About this property
Magnolia Mountain Getaway
This rustic, bohemian style mountain home, with amazing views of Boulder and Boulder Canyon, is just ten minutes from bustling Pearl Street and downtown Boulder, but feels a million miles away.
If you're looking for more space or want to have a family reunion, we have another guest house on the property. Check it out here: https://www.vrbo.com/2605052?noDates=true
The space: The cabin is located on 10 acres of pristine private property in the Roosevelt National Forest. With the mountain air blowing through the pines, you'll forget you're only 10 minutes from the city. An engineer rents the attached walkout basement with a completely separate exterior entrance and no interior access. Extremely quiet and usually only around 3-4 days/week.
Guest access: There are 2 additional houses on the property and guests are welcome to access every inch of the 10 acres. In addition to the 2 acres of developed land, there are 8 acres of trails surrounding the property, several of which switchback down to Boulder Creek. Guests are encouraged to hike and adventure out directly from the property.
Other things to note Directions from downtown Boulder:
- Head WEST on Canyon Blvd/CO 119 - LEFT onto Magnolia Dr (also known as Magnolia Rd) - Our place is just 3/4 of a mile up Magnolia Dr.
You will be staying in the cabin on the right side of the driveway. Parking is just past the first house on the left side of the driveway, next to the canopy carport. You can enter the cabin from either door on the upper level.
The main source of heat is a thermostat-controlled forced air unit. Area heaters are stored in the closets if additional heat is needed. There's also a wood burning fireplace, so we suggest bringing some wood bundles if you want to keep it extra cozy.
During winter, a vehicle with AWD or 4x4 is recommended. If you don't have that, please make sure you have snow chains for your tires.
Have a blast and we look forward to meeting you!

Cabin was clean and as advertised and hosts were very nice. Views from deck were pretty yet still close to downtown Boulder. Only downside was beds could have been more comfortable.
Was a great stay close to Boulder, we took day trips to Ft Collins, Denver and Longmont. The cabin is comfortable and quiet. The hosts were great to communicate with.
Joe, the host, was super friendly and very helpful with local recommendations. The property is quiet and has incredible views from the deck. Would definitely stay again!
The cabin was ideal for our girls trip. Loved the cute interior and comfortable beds. The porch was perfect for morning coffee, watching the sunrise, and a little stargazing. Great location to get to hikes in the Indian Peaks and to Boulder for a nice to dinner. Communication with the host was prompt and helpful. Would highly recommend!
This is an outstanding place to stay, just out of town and natural, yet close to all the happenings of Boulder. My wife and I stayed with our 6 and 3 year old sons and found this to be a lovely place for our family!
We made a quick trip to Boulder and loved our stay. The perfect location. Easy trip to Boulder and Nederland. The house was lovely and Joseph was super helpful and quick to respond. I would stay there again!
We had an incredible stay with even better views. The location was great, you’re about ten minutes from downtown which gives you plenty to do. Watching the sunrise in the morning over the mountains was breathtaking, and the deck gives you a great spot to sit and enjoy your coffee in the morning.
We had a wonderful stay on Magnolia drive. The setting is absolutely stunning. The house was spotless and had everything you need. I would highly recommend the property. Many thanks to Joe and Rosie.
The location is only a short drive from Boulder. It's a really beautiful drive up the canyon. The check-in/check-out was easy and there the property was clean and cozy. Would stay again.

Thanks for the great review, Tyler. Hope to host you again someday!
This was the perfect place to stay for CU graduation weekend. 15 minutes from Boulder. Spacious living and dining to host 5 for dinner. Wonderful communication with host.
Rustic little cabin in great location for easy access to Boulder. Beautiful to be in nature and to see the stars at night. The only negative is that we were there in July and there is no air conditioning or ceiling fans in the bedrooms - so it was extremely hot and we all struggled to sleep for the 3 nights we were there. Would definitely recommend during the cooler months.

Thanks for the 5 star review, Tanya. Sorry to hear the heat made sleeping rough. Were you unable to get the evaporative cooler working? That beast does a great job up here in our dry climate! We also provide area fans for both bedrooms and ceiling fan in the living room. Wish I knew you were having a tough time. I always try to be available to help or have someone on call that can if I’m unavailable. Take care!
For a remote setting this cabin has quick and easy access to Boulder and other points of interest. The cabin has modern amenities but retains a nice rustic feel. We loved the beautiful view from the deck.
Phenomenal location with great views. Clean, well- maintained, and close to Boulder and plenty of trails. We got our fill of strenuous hikes and then spent the evenings relaxing and looking at the stars from the porch. Great trip!
I didn't see the host during my visit but everything went smoothly so that didn't matter. The cabin is lovely but this time of year the angle of the sun showed how much the windows needed to be cleaned. That spoiled the view somewhat. The only real issue was the height of the bed in the master bedroom as no steps are provided. It was good I am tall and was able to get into it.
I absolutely loved everything about my stay. Views were beyond my expectations. The property was so charming. The hosts are incredible. I want to go back again and again.

Thank you Jennifer! We’d love to have you back anytime. Please let us know how your memoirs turn out!
Cozy house perfect for a family or 2 to 3 couples. Views off of the balcony were amazing. Enjoyed the sunrise with my coffee on the first morning. Driveway is dirt with some ruts so the Jeep we had came in handy.

About the host
Hosted by Joseph Cartlidge
We're James, Olive, Rosie and Joe - son, daughter, mom and dad. Native Californians, we moved to Colorado in 2016 and going from beaches to boulders has been eye opening in that we now truly experience seasons. Sometimes glorious, other times defeating but always fun and we love every new memory made.
