About the host
Hosted by Chris Colvin
Chris and Bea are longtime Marietta residents; 25+ years for him, 11 for her. As an Architect, Chris has been working on painstakingly restoring this gem of a home since he acquired some 26 years ago. Chris is an avid cyclist and Bea is into roller skating...two hobbies they love to enjoy year 'round in this perfect seasons-blessed, gorgeous part of the world they call home: Marietta!
Why they chose this property
Built in 1938 (+/-) by the Hill family, it was the home for many girls who were fostered out of the original Kennesaw Hospital system - many of whom are still around the Marietta area. The house sat abandoned for over 10 years in the 1980-90's on a stone foundation that was collapsed and sliding the house into the street~ needless to say it was restored from the bottom up. Located on top of Lawrence St, you will be looking over the Square and have an unobstructed view of the 3 ridges of Kennesaw Mountain. Some of our favorite things about the house are the original wood floors, stained doors and trim and largely the original floor plan. The deep porches are a Georgia hallmark that will be sure to please. No detail has been overlooked and the numerous amenities create a comfortable ambiance while staying true to the cozy feel of the home. Warm in the winter and cool and breezy in the summer, it is the perfect quiet escape within close proximity to the vibrant Marietta Square.
What makes this property unique
Location, Location, Location! Just a few blocks from the Square, it's a pleasant and short walk. Ample and private parking. Very quiet and secure home. Great for families, as there is a picnic table on the front porch as well as a lovely outdoor "perch" with an idyllic view of the sunset every night. The large back yard is fenced and private.
