Host Kelli is a co-owner of a large tour company offering over 20 shore excursions throughout Alaska, primarily in the Southeast region. She offers a 10% discount on all tours offered by Alaska Travel Adventures to her vacation rental guests. Unfortunately, Alaska Travel Adventures doesn't currently offer any day tours in the area. If you are going on an Alaska cruise or are interested in RV travel, this offer may be of interest to you. Popular tours in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, Jeep tours, Alaska RV and Cruise tour packages, and more. Ask Kelli for the details.
This is a cool place with some historical references. In 1998, Kelli bought the place to live in and considered painting over the Alaska-themed mural. Still, some of the Girdwood residents lobbied against it, including the librarian, who stated that it was her dog painted on the property. She never painted over the mural, and now it seems appropriate to keep it that way. The cabin was built in 1964, and it was raised in 1978 when a concrete slab was poured and a block foundation installed, creating a gift shop where tour buses would bring people on their way to and from the sites. Later, the lower level housed "the bike shop". When the bike shop outgrew the space, it was converted to a two-bedroom dwelling unit.
Pets are welcome, upon approval. If you feel that the extra animal/person fee is too expensive, and the value isn't there for you, please don't book this place.
The lower unit may also have guests staying during your stay. Please be cognizant of the noise level to be courteous to the downstairs guests, and please make sure there is at least one parking spot available for those guests, should you arrive with no cars in the driveway, to prevent being blocked in by the lower unit guests.

Would love to come back again
This house is roomy, with plenty of distance between rooms. We loved the spacious outside deck as well. It's well-located and just off the main road. We just walked across the road to Girdwood Brewing Company! We'd love to stay again someday.

Was a bit too rustic for me! was clean, just not very updated and no supplies as listed. Screens on window absent, buggy, noisy with highway right next to property. Too expensive for what was offered. checked out day early, not even a credit. No paperwork inside as to what instructions for property, was coin operated laundry outside of living area, no soap no coins. internet was spotty and sorry my email wasn't too accesible to look up the vrbo site.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations, Jennifer. We have 13 new windows scheduled to be installed for the property and they come with screens so this will be taken care of soon. I asked the cleaner about the supplies, soap, etc.. and she sent me pictures of all the items there. We send out details for the property with your lock box code. You were able to get in so you must have received that information so there should not have been a need for you to log onto the VRBO site for property information.
The place was clean and took care of basic needs. Linens were clean, and beds were comfortable. The listing gave the impression there was gold panning nearby or on the property, though that wasn’t the case. Also, it clearly used to be a multi-group property that got converted, but the signage and policies haven’t really been updated. Laundry on the facility wasn’t maintained well and cost additional money on top of the already high price tag of the place. The property manager was very responsive, and I appreciated her prompt responses.
Communication with host was clear and concise. This is a pretty typical bungalow with lots of years of usage , ok it has character. We felt the overall experience was good and wouldn’t be afraid to book again.
The location was great to Alyeska, The Sitz and Jack Spratt. The rooms were much larger than the pictures show and the entire unit was clean and spacious. The surrounding mountain views on the balcony were also a great addition and communication with property team was awesome, very quick to respond. Would love to stay again!
This was such a cute cabin. Enjoyed our stay. Was able to accommodate last minute. Would definitely stay here again. Location is perfect. Was able to walk to the brewery across the street! Very close to alyeska. Great views and cute neighborhood
