Host Kelli happens to be a co-owner of a large tour company with over 20 shore excursions throughout Alaska, mostly in Southeast Alaska. She offers a 10% discount on all tours offered by Alaska Travel Adventures to her vacation rental guests. Unfortunately, Alaska Travel Adventures doesn't currently offer any day tours in the area. If you are going on an Alaska cruise, this offer may be of interest to you. Popular tours in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, Jeep tours, and more. Ask us for the details.
This property has an Alaska-themed mural on the bottom level, which is the concrete block foundation. The cabin was built in 1964, and it was raised in 1978 when a concrete slab was poured and a block foundation installed, creating a gift shop where tour buses would bring people on their way to and from the sites. Later, the lower level housed "the bike shop". When the bike shop outgrew the space, it was converted to a two-bedroom dwelling unit, but we decided to retain the mural, which features a malamute that was owned by the local librarian. We will strive to provide the best customer service and improve as we go with feedback from our guests. We hope to earn your five-star review! Please enjoy your stay with us!

Very accommodating hosts. It was just a quick stay for four of us and the dog. Would recommend to anyone that's looking for a quick and easy stay in Girdwood.

not what we expected
The place is tired and needs refreshing. The yard area is very unkept. No screens on the windows so no way to let fresh air in without letting in the mosquitos.
Hate to be so negative but we were extremely disappointed. If I wasn’t so tired we would have picked up and left! Dead bug on my bedside table was only topped but the live one crawling behind it! There was major work being done on the road ways next to our bedroom windows that was something the owners were notified of. We were not told about it and they work until 10-1030pm at night. We talked to the workers. It was very noisy!! We should have been informed about this when the owners were, for options. We were there to sleep and on our body’s time line that was 230 in the morning!there were cards for notifications about the work, all the doors, except ours. When I reached out they said they had no control. They had control of choosing to not be being an dishonest rental agent!!

We had no idea this road work was being done. There was no door hangars left on the doors that we know if. Prior guests did not let us know if they did see ay door hangars. We have never experienced a situation where city roads were being worked on outside of normal business hours. They must have hired a contractor to do whatever work they were doing there. This is definitely an anomaly.
We arrived at 4:26, check-in was at 4 pm and the cleaner was still inside. I called and texted the number on my email confirmation and received a text back 15 min later asking me to text another number. Texted that number and another 15 minutes passed before they advised me to “go on in, she will leave” but I obviously didn’t want her to leave before finishing. She left at 4:55 and we entered the property, I immediately noticed there was dirt all over the left side of the entry next to the fridge and the whole place smelled dirty and stale. It appeared the floors had maybe been vacuumed but definitely not mopped. Interior was very shabby and outdated, much more so than the pictures indicated. We did not stay, we left the property and went to a friends house.

It's too bad that you didn't got to the door. The cleaner didn't realize that you had arrived. She said that you didn't even drive into the driveway until 5pm. The building is a duplex so the cleaner was still there doing other activities, even though she had completed cleaning of that particular unit. While there is a separate outside door to access the laundry room and our inventory closet, it was easier for her to continue using the door from your unit until your arrival. I have instructed the cleaner to leave the property before 4pm moving forward since this was a problem for you. The cleaner didn't mention that people didn't stay in the unit, but she did charge me for 3 hours of cleaning the unit for your checkout clean. There is no space between the entry mat and the refrigerator, so I don't understand where this dirt is. The cleaner did check off that she mopped the floors on her cleaning report. The pictures for the unit were taken this spring, so they aren't old. We have done some painting in the unit this summer, but otherwise, everything should be the same as the photos. I'm sorry the unit didn't meet your expectations. It was a strange situation for us, too.
