This unique villa has been lovingly renovated according to the latest German standards (2017) and is quietly located in a blind street in the Urb. Calypso / Calahonda is just 3-5 minutes walk from the shopping center Los Olivos / El Zoco, family friendly restaurants, bars, shops and the beautiful sandy beach. In the back only nature and with a colorful garden with fruit trees, water elements, large pool; This property is ideal for a relaxing holiday for the family, but also for golfers or young people. The villa has a private covered south-facing terrace with barbecue area and summer kitchen, the garden with 6 sun loungers is not visible (elevated position) and has a wonderful sea view. Due to the south orientation they enjoy the sun all day, but also shady places! The house has 3 large bedrooms with spacious closets. Bright and welcoming entrance with spacious living / dining area (6) with fireplace and fully equipped terrace, fully equipped kitchen and laundry room, 1 en-suite bedroom with double bed (90x200) and shower, towel warmer, dressing area and access to the terrace, 1 guest toilet , 1. Floor with gallery, which serves as a library and flooded the WZ with natural light. The master bedroom with large double bed (2x90x200), security door and sea view, main bathroom with shower and bidet, 2. Guest bedroom (2x single beds90x190) overlooking the pool.
The comfortable and innovative decor offers 6 people optimal living quality (There is a sofa bed available for children 6 + 2) and privacy. The dining area has direct access to the glazed kitchen. A comfortable lounge sofa and armchair invite you to linger. Of course there is also satellite TV international / national and Wifi internet available. The equipment is high quality, marble floors. There is an air conditioning hot / cold, Zentralheizg., Underfloor heating (bathrooms). The villa is cool in summer by shutters, mosquito windows and awnings and meets all holiday requirements. Carport (1 place) A haven of peace, Within walking distance to a large selection of beach restaurants (family friendly) and the new beach promenade, commercial center with supermarkets, bars, post office, pharmacy, cafes. Fuengirola / Torremolinos Water Parks, Selwo Safari Park in Estepona, Sealife - Selwo Marina in Benalmadena, the Wakeboard / Waterskiing Park in San Pedro or tree climbing in the Amazon Adventure Park in Elviria (just 5 minutes in the car). Excellent Villa and location

Beautiful villa inside and out, great pool and dining area outside. Very quiet location but still only five minutes walk from a number of supermarkets and restaurants. We had a day trip to Gibraltar which is just over an hour away. The host was fantastic, very quick to answer any queries and give us recommendations for restaurants and local markets. The only thing I would add for a two week stay is a cleaner after the first week to change the beds. We will definitely be back.

Excellent Villa can’t wait to return

We booked for my daughter-in-laws 30th birthday and we wanted something special and this Villa did not disappoint we have stayed in many villas over the years but this was by far the best close to all amenities good restaurants and supermarket and everything was within walking distance wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again in fact cannot wait for the next time.

Great Villa

Beautiful Villa in a location close to much on the Costa Del Sol. All facilities catered for, kids loved the pool, we had a great time. Martina (host) extremely efficient and informative. Property felt safe and friendly will go again.

Lovely relaxing holiday. Villa is in a quiet residential area within short walking distance to supermarkets, bars & restaurants.We didn’t venture to the local beach but went to La Cala (10 min drive away) which never failed to disappoint. Check in was easy and Martina gave us a good tour of the villa relaying essential rules, e.g. use of additional towels.There was plenty of plastic dinnerware & cups for round the pool.The pool was a little small when everyone was in, but fine for just the children.The only issue we had were with ants. We couldn’t hang damp towels in the bathrooms as this seemed to be a magnet for them, as well as toothpaste (??who knew??). Other than that, it was regimental cleaning & tidying that kept them to a minimum, not ideal when you want to relax with the kids but a small price to pay for an otherwise perfect villa.

Beautiful villa in Sitio de Calahonda.

Myself and my husband stayed in this villa for 11 nights to celebrate my 60th birthday. We'd been let down with the villa we'd previously booked, and searched for a while to find a suitable alternative, and we chose this villa. We were not disappointed! This is a large villa in a lovely, quiet residential area. It is spacious, clean, and very well equipped. It also has air conditioning which we needed on occasion as the weather was very hot! The pool area is beautiful, and the pool and garden area are very well maintained. The villa is a short walk away from 2 large supermarkets, and lots of bars and restaurants. Martina our host was really great, very welcoming and helpful, and very knowledgeable about the area, providing lots of ideas of places to try. We would highly recommend this villa for anyone wanting a relaxing, peaceful holiday, but near to all amenities when required. Thankyou to the villa owners, and thankyou to Martina for your help during our stay!

Lovely villa

The villa and pool were lovely, very well equipped and a great location for the beach. We enjoyed a lovely 5 days there. On arrival, the letting agent Martina met us and showed us how everything worked so that we could enjoy all the facilities and take care of the villa. As requested, we left a damage deposit in cash in Euros, which was later returned via bacs transfer in sterling - which wasn’t our understanding. This was very disappointing as we lost money due to bank charges and exchange rate fluctuations.

Was exactly what it said on the tin !!....I have lived in Marbella and rented numerous properties over the last 15 years all along the coast, from apartments in Altos Los Monteros to villas in Estepona and our stay at villa Sierra Magina was one of the most peaceful and relaxing my partner and I have enjoyed for a long time. The property, although a last minute booking, was perfectly located to allow us to chill, but close enough to visit friends and for them to visit us, as well as day trips to Gibraltar and surrounding areas it is also convenient for bars and restaurants so any taxi fares were more than reasonable... don't drink and drive. The property itself was immaculate in presentation and all "mod cons" you would expect, the pool area perfectly located to take advantage of the mid-day to evening sun and the covered terrace to escape the same, when the mercury hits the 40 degree mark. Overall, villa Sierra Magina rates a 10/10, however don't take my word for it..book and find out for yourself !!

Nice but not recommended for UK travellers

The villa was very nice but is quite obviously a family home being rented out with a lot of personal features present. The pool area was as described and although the location was not in the best part of Calahonda we liked to walk - despite the heat - to find the better places to eat and drink. Having said that the Carrefour is on the doorstep and the restaurant by the supermarket and the Da Vince cafe (serving breakfast and lunch) were both excellent. The TV is described as international. It's not, it's German, very German which is a little disappointing in 2022 (and given it was being updated in response to similar reviews given in 2019). The internet was also weak particularly when we all wanted to use it to make up for the non-existent television we could watch and/ or understand. However, the issue that took the shine off the whole experience down was the host. She insisted on us paying a five hundred euro damage deposit either in cash or by way of bank transfer outside of the VRBO payment systems. I did question this with VRBO who told me this was not supposed to happen (but it would appear that Martina wants the marketing benefits of utilising VRBO but not to follow their rules when it suits). While we did receive the deposit back, we received significantly less than we paid for the euros. Martina did not seem to understand that there is a cost for any non-EU traveller to buy/ sell (in cash or by way of bank transfer) euros for something which could have been done by simply holding credit card details on file (costing nothing like one does when renting a car). A good experience let down by a host whose processes/ ways of working belong to the last century which is a real pity, a shame and so unnecessary for the property owners who obviously take great pride in their home.

Hello, Paul, thanks for your feedback and I want to clarify a few things for you and the future guests. I am sorry to hear that you couldn’t find the right restaurants as there are plenty national /international gastronomic options in the el Zoco commercial area close by and at the beach. In the description of the property its said clearly some national/international TV channels, as English news channels BBC, CNN , Eurosport. If we would offer the full sky package for our English guests, we would have announced it in VBRO. Most of our guests are from the UK and never complaint about it as mostly they use their tablets or phones and are not interested in TV as you also mentioned to me at the arrival. I informed you that we don’t have the high-speed internet in that street and the WIFI- signal can be sometimes a bit slowly when 6 people are using it at the same time to watch movies. We are now working on a solution to amplify the signal. Regarding the damage deposit I work as an agent with this option during the past 28 years and as I had problems with the platform with refunds in case of damages by the guest, THE OWNER decided to ask for it. Most of the agencies ask for it separately. Particularly for my UK guests I offer the option to pay by credit card, cash, or bank transfer with 7 days notice upfront. All my guests got back the full amount. For my Spanish guests I have established the BIZUM transfer by phone. I am working very hard with my team to offer a carefree stay and always updating our services. Martina Meister

Fin villa, men lidt skuffede over udsigten

Fin villa med fin pool. Dog er der ikke den havudsigt som billederne viser (der er bygget på grunden overfor og man har valgt ikke at opdatere billeder), så der er kun lidt havudsigt fra det ene værelse ovenpå. Der er kun mulighed for at sidde ude ved bord/bænke ved hoveddøren, ikke helt optimalt og så bekvemmeligt, men hyggeligt nok. Dejligt med 6 liggestole ved poolen. Dog blev alt vores lyse badetøj gult efter at have været i poolvandet. Udlejers manager kom et kvarter for sent ved ankomst og overdragelsen bar præg af at hun havde travlt. Meget forvirrende. Vi blev bedt om at købe batterier til aircondition fjernbetjeningerne, da de ikke virkede, og så ville vi få refunderet beløbet sammen med tilbagebetalingen af depositum, det fik vi så ikke, trods batterier og kvittering var lagt der som aftalt. Vi fik at vide ved ankomst, at vi ville blive trukket i depositum, hvis vi brugte for meget aircondition, så vi forsøgte virkelig at spare, selvom det var hedebølge udenfor. Vi blev heldigvis ikke trukket for yderligere. Vi skulle rykke for at få vores depositum tilbage. Internet er ikke særlig godt, heller ikke til bare alm. brug. Kort afstand til supermarked og restauranter, men en bil er at foretrække. Naboer (ved ikke om de er fastboende) lukkede hunde ud i haven hver morgen og aften, og specielt om aftenen gøede de voldsomt hele aftenen. Myrer på køkkenbordet. Vi havde en fin ferie på 10 dage, men vi regner ikke med at komme igen.

Superbe Maison très spacieuse et calme

La maison est très grande et très bien organisée. Elle est propre. Toute la cuisine est neuve et très fonctionnelle. Il ne manque rien. La piscine est bien mais pourrait être mieux éclairée la nuit. La literie est correcte et les nuits sont douces. Nous avons passé le plus de temps dehors car il y a une grande table de jardin pour 6 personnes avec des sièges confortables. 6 transats permettent un repos confortable après un bon verre de sangria dans ka piscine. Martina a été d'une grande serviabilité ce qui est crucial. Disponible et reactive, les petits "bobos" ont vite été pris en charge. Bravo Martina.

La maison est super bien équipée. Il y a un super marché 3min à pied, un resto et un coiffeur

Par contre nous avons du donner une caution. Ils nous ont accusé d'abord d avoir perdu une prise, puis finalement ils nous ont dit que c'était pas nous mais la famille juste avant, et nous on retirer des sous pour le plan de travail de cuisine qui était abîmé, alors que c'était déjà comme ça. J'ai trouver ça mal honnête, je trouve que c'est du vol. Donc je conseil de prendre en photos tout les dégâts avant même de vous installer.

Shocking service from management company

The manager is not interested in guests having a relaxing enjoyable holiday at all it’s just about the money. The manager said as the cost of the villa is so low (which is insulting) can we only use the air conditioning for 1 hour a day and if we use too much we will be charged extra. She has now accused our family of 'loosing keys' which were never shown to us by the manager, we never saw the keys in the property, we were never given an inventory about them. She has told me she is sending an invoice for an extortionate amount to replace them. Do not stay here!

Hello Emma, we are sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay but we have never Mentioned to charge anything for air conditioning , this is always included in the rental price and unlimited . What you said isn’t true.At the check in you got a set of security keys to the villa and were introduced to the locking system of the terrace doors with security keys in each bedroom . After you departure there was one set missing and the tenant is responsible for that. We searched for them and you couldn’t remember where they were . Things can get lost . Can happen. Simple fact . That’s why the damage deposit is for. I am working In the rental business for 25 years and we never had any complaints. All our guests of Sierra Magína had always a pleasant stay. I am taking my job seriously and for me, the management company , the most important thing is that our guests are feeling well. Our Family Holiday in Villa Sierra Magina

Our family group, comprising five adults, and two young children aged five and one stayed for a week at the Villa over the period 29th July - 5th August. On arrival at the villa we were met by Martina (property manager) who provided the handover and talked us through the necessary details re the villa, all of which was very comprehensive and helpful. The interior of the villa was excellent, extremely clean and all furnishings, appliances etc of high quality throughout. Bedrooms were spacious and the beds particularly comfortable, and there is also plenty of wardrobe space. For families with young children, bear in mind that there is no bath in the property, only showers . The kitchen area was fine for all our needs with every appliance crockery / cuttlery you could want provided, and as previously mentioned extremely clean throughout. Just one area of disappointment was with the TV and Wifi. TV channels are almost all German, and we could only find one channel, Sky News speaking English. It would have been really helpful to have a couple of English speaking cartoon channels for the children to help them unwind at the end of the day. Wifi, was very poor throughout the building, and you cannot rely on it, you will be heavily reliant upon your data allowance if you want to get on to the internet, etc. The exterior of the villa provides good views from the front towards the sea, at the rear there is open land/ scrub, but this is generally well hidden by well thought through landscaping too the gardens etc. The swimming pool was great, not really suited to swimming up and down as a little too small but perfect for family with kids. The surrounding sunbathing area was clean and nicely laid out and a great sun trap throughout the day.. Unfortunately it is not permitted to barbecue out side, due to local govt restrictions (fire hazard) in this area of Spain, that was a real shame, as for many people the family barbecue is a regular feature of a villa holiday. A portable electric hotplate was made available for outside use , but regrettably did not work. Location wise, I would say you would almost certainly benefit from renting a car, we did not and with hindsight this was a mistake. Most of the nice beaches, and shops etc will need a taxi ride / bus to get too. Hope this review helps you.

Hello, Simon, thanks for the review. As we are working with international clients we provide international TV channels, we will soon get the fiber optic cable to offer even more selected TV programs. Wifi- Internet works perfectly, sometimes it is a bit slow because of saturation (3-4 devices downloading games). The hot plate was broken during your stay and we have now replaced it for a new one. The beaches and restaurants are in walking distance (5-10 mins). See you soon in Marbella. Martina

Excellent property inside and out, extremely clean, full of all home comforts and very safe.

My family stayed at the property for a week in August 2018. We were greeted by Martina who runs the property lettings from the German owners. She is a fountain of knowledge of the area and the villa which helped as we settled in. The villa has everything you would desire for a relaxing stay inside or out, throughout every room.. High quality kitchen products, roomy and powerful showers, comfortable beds, even more comfortable sun loungers plus all beach towels, superb air conditioning, wifi, clean and adequately sized pool, high level of security, the list goes on... It is also based 2 mins walk from the supermarket, coffee shop, newsagent, hairdressers which is very handy should you need to use them. The beach(s) is also within walking distance but to drive is 5 mins which I would recommend (although leave early to get a parking spot). You are also 1 min in the car from the main A7 road which takes you in either direction to other beaches, towns, places etc so quite handy. It's not essential but I would recommend having a car should you want to travel around being based from this villa.. There is construction work going on to the front of the property currently which will be finished in 2019 and will only add value and contentment to this villa and location. We weren't disappointed so I am sure those who book in the future will feel the same.

A lovely spacious and well equipped villa with a great pool area and in a good location!

We had such a lovely stay at this fantastic villa. It has lots of space and is in a good location with a supermarket and some bars and restaurants only a short walk away. The house has a lovely home from home feeling and has everything you need, all to a very high standard. The downstairs ensuite bedroom leading directly on to the pool terrace was such a nice bonus. The elevated position of the house allows privacy and gives a nice feeling of space when outdoors. The garden and pool area are lovely and the pool is a good size. To have the off street parking and garage was good and reassuring for us with our rental car as we knew it was safely parked. The security of the house is also very good. There is some construction going on directly opposite the house but this looks fairly close to completion. We loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to return to this villa if visiting this area again!
