About this property
Hidden country house on the edge of the forest - Holstein Switzerland - 15 min. Baltic Sea
The thatched roof, mid-19th Built in the 19th century, it was owned by the Duke of Oldenburg until about 20 years ago and is located on the edge of the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park on an idyllic property, surrounded by forest and a meadow. Neighbors are neither heard nor seen. The eastern border of the garden is bordered by a babbling brook. A play paradise for children.
During renovation work, care was taken to preserve or restore the old building structure from 1860 as far as possible. For example, the old doors with iron fittings are still there. Visible half-timbered beams, wooden floorboards, original rung windows and interior walls with clay plaster emphasize the character. The spacious dining room is the focal point of the house. With a ceiling height of just under 3 meters, which is generous for this type of cat, and the wonderfully bright morning sun, it is the perfect place to relax at the large table with guests and family. The piano is happy about young and old musicians. Immediately afterwards is the kitchen with access to a spacious sun terrace paved with old granite stones. On a total living space of approx. 140 sqm there is also a cozy living room with a fireplace and two large and two small bedrooms, whereby one of the small bedrooms is intended as a retreat for the little ones and is therefore equipped with a cot and a farm bed (180x95 cm) is. A family with several children or 4 adults with or without children can easily be accommodated. Also up to 7 adults who have no problem with three of the bedrooms being connected to each other (i.e. two through rooms - see floor plan). A friendly, modern bathroom with bathtub and underfloor heating is accessible from two sides.
You will look in vain for media entertainment via TV or WiFi, instead you can enjoy birdsong and babbling from early to late. Cell phone reception can also be weak in some places. Here you can simply not be reachable with a clear conscience.
If you approach the house from the north or south, you will find a scene that is unusual for northern Germany. The house is located in the middle of the most beautiful end moraine landscape on a hillside plot in the immediate vicinity of a mixed beech forest, which invites you to stroll. From the east, the property is flanked by a babbling brook, the Kremper Au, which feeds the Neustadt inland water between Altenkrempe and Neustadt. From the north, a pasture borders on the property like from a picture book. Farm horses from Demeter's Hollergraben farm can graze here with relish.
The hilly landscape of East Holstein, to which the Holstein Switzerland Nature Park belongs, is characterized by hills, valleys, forests, swamps, lakes, swamps and small rivers. It is more forested here than in the Schleswig-Holstein region further west. There is an extensive network of bike paths and little-used district and country roads. Schönwalde am Bungsberg, which is 168 m above sea level. NN highest peak in Schleswig Holstein, lies almost in the middle of the Wagrien peninsula. Numerous beaches and swimming lakes, natural or guarded, can thus be reached quickly in all directions.
Even today there are centuries-old nobility in the area, with stately estates and estates, which makes its contribution to culture and agriculture. Many of these goods can be viewed or are the setting for cultural events, including a. as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
There are numerous shops in the area. Schönwalde (4 km): small supermarket, bakery, butchery, pharmacy. Lensahn (7 km): supermarkets, weekly market, fish shop. Neustadt (11 km): various supermarkets, a well-stocked organic shop, weekly market and much more.
For excursions there are:
Baltic Sea resorts: Grömitz (13 km), Rettin (12 km), Hohwacht (24 km), Sierksdorf (17 km)
Swimming lakes: Griebeler See, Stendorfer See, Eutiner See
Distances: Eutin 17 km, Hamburg 100 km, Lübeck 40 km, Plön 32 km, Fehmarn 38 km; Denmark: 80 km, Copenhagen: 226 km
Free time activities:
Cycling (bike rental with delivery service possible from approx. 7.- Euro / day), swimming, surfing, sailing, fishing, hunting. Golf course: Golf club Brodauer Mühle, 18-hole course, 10 km.
