You'll love the quiet of the country with modern charm. The Honeymoon Cabin is one of the 5 Cabins of Lakeview by Sue Barn Venue. With its own lake view porch too, it holds a maximum of 3 guests (including the ladder accessible loft for one). When not being rented along with a wedding/event, it is offered here for a quiet stay.

Along with a grill and firepit (fuel provided), it comes with all the kitchen accessories you may need, comfy bedding, and plush towels. It has a TV and Wifi. The little lake is steps from your front door where you can enjoy a little fishing or a peaceful stroll. Bring your kayak too. No Swimming allowed and boats with motors are not allowed on this lake.

1.2 miles down a dirt road but only 3.5 miles total from a very small town, you'll have access to a great little grocery store and other lovely shops, but often they close earlier than most expect. Come prepared with food if you are arriving late.

What a gem!

We were in the area from out of town visiting family and this place was perfect. Very clean, well appointed, and charming as could be. We enjoyed waking up to the lake view every morning and the peace & quiet was welcomed after a long days of visiting family. We will definitely stay here again.

Quaint, cozy, quiet

This cabin is the perfect place to get away from it all, but in comfy conditions. We enjoyed breakfast and evenings looking at the lake and seeing turtles, birds, cranes, a bald eagle, and fish! The cabin has everything you need for a comfy stay. You are only a few mies from town, but it seems like you are further than that. Definitely pick up groceries in town because you will not want to leave to shop. I wish we had time to eat / shop at the Rustic Duck beside it, but time just not permit it. The locals raved about the food there! The owner of this wonderful hideaway also has teepees to stay in! It’s such a neat place! The host couldn’t be any nicer! We are hoping to come back to the area next year, but planning to stay a little longer just to enjoy the scenery! Don’t miss this GEM!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We reserved the smallest cabin (Honeymoon Cabin) for the weekend just to get away and enjoy the "quiet" for our Valentines gift to each other. The location was easily found and the scenery and property is very beautiful and well laid out. Upon arrival there was a slight mix up but we were able to easily reach someone who had someone come within 10-15 mins to let us in. Not only were they friendly and helpful, they upgraded our cabin to a larger cabin at no cost due to the mix up. The cabin was super clean, amazing decor, and almost everything and anything you needed was provided. We stopped at the local grocery store and were able to use the firepit to cook our steaks next to the lake. Although too cold to fish during our stay, the lake has so many areas to fish and there is even boats you can use and take out. Will definitely return to this location, highly recommend for a quiet getaway or family fun weekend!

In 2020, we finished the Lakeview by Sue barn wedding venue and have added beautiful country cabins since. Having decorated weddings for years, it was my dream to have a big, beautiful barn venue next to this charming country lake. When the cabins are not reserved for wedding guests, we have them available here for the weary traveler looking for a quiet country escape.

Why they chose this property

Appleton City lake does not allow swimming nor does it allow boats with motors. The lake was originally created to be a water source for the railroad that was the origin and center of what is now Appleton City. There is public access on another part of the lake. We are 1.2 miles down a dirt road and about 3 total miles from the small town of Appleton City. We have a great little grocery store, a Caseys, Dollar General, beautiful coffee shop, restaurant, and more. But some folks can be surprised the stores close early. Please come prepared by picking up food or supplies along the way if planning to arrive late.
