About this property
Le Refuge - RATTE - Gîte
Owners of horses (paddocks nearby, visits possible), Martine & Éric welcome you to a charming traditional Bresse farmhouse, built in the 19th century with brick and half-timbering, carefully restored, nestled peacefully in a small rural hamlet, in a tranquil setting of wooded meadows, at the edge of a small wood. In the heart of the unspoiled Louhans countryside (largely protected as a ZNIEFF for its rich fauna and flora), a stone's throw from the banks of the Seille, a remarkable ecosystem appreciated by anglers and nature lovers alike, protected as a "Natura 2000" site (a reserve for migratory birds, rare plant species, numerous fish including the famous wels catfish, and other wildlife), not far from the foothills of the Jura Mountains. A bucolic, gently rolling landscape, blending agriculture and unspoiled nature, between fields, hedged meadows dotted with ponds and rivers, and beautiful wild forests (perfect for relaxing walks or mountain biking). This spacious and very comfortable cottage boasts a warm, rustic charm with contemporary touches, harmonizing with the unique character of an old rural home (original beams and timber frame) and a carefully curated, unusual "ethnic" decor. It exudes charm and character, and is ultra-cozy and inviting. The bedrooms are nestled under the eaves, creating a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere. A pleasant, enclosed garden, planted with greenery and flowers, is partially shaded by a lovely linden tree. Enjoy beautiful, unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. Composition: Detached house. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Electric heating + wood-burning stove. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. Ground floor: living room/kitchen, living room (with a 160x200cm sofa bed for two), shower room, separate WC. First floor: living room/games room, 2 bedrooms (one with a 160x200cm double bed and the other with a 140x190cm double bed and two 90x200cm single beds). Enclosed garden (150m² with covered walkways) + bicycle storage + private parking. All amenities including supermarkets 7 km away. A peaceful little corner of the countryside on the edge of fields and wooded meadows, at the gateway to the Jura mountains and their Natural Park! A charming traditional 19th-century Bresse farmhouse, carefully renovated into an ultra-comfortable and charming holiday home, nestled in the peace and quiet of a small rural hamlet - on a pleasant enclosed garden of 150m² - 7 km from Louhans, the capital of Bresse, famous for its iconic medieval shopping street with "157 arcades" (one of the most remarkable of its kind in France and Europe) as well as for its highly regarded "Monday market" labeled "Remarkable Site of Taste", and 20 km from Lons-le-Saunier, the capital of the Jura (a spa town, birthplace of Rouget de Lisle, author of the national anthem "La Marseillaise"!). In the heart of the gentle, preserved Bresse countryside of Louhans (largely protected as a ZNIEFF), a bucolic rural and natural setting combining agriculture and the great outdoors, between vast bocage plains dotted with ponds and rivers and beautiful wild forests, nestled between Bresse and Revermont, a stone's throw from the banks of the Seille (a rare natural area classified as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its remarkable ecosystems), not far from the mountain foothills of the nearby Jura massif and its vineyards. Located close to numerous footpaths, including a marked "green walk" (a vast network of identical hiking trails to explore on foot or by mountain bike), 2 km from the "Voie Bressane" Green Way (connected to the Voie Bleue along the Saône River and to the Grande Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud Green Way), 3.5 km from the "Cycloroute71" (Saône-et-Loire cycling tour), 17 km from the Bresse Jurassienne Green Way, 24 km from the renowned GRP "Bresse Comtoise" trail adjacent to the GR59, approximately 20 km from the Romanesque church circuit, approximately 40 km from the Côtes Mâconnaises, approximately 50 km from the Côtes Chalonnaises, and approximately 60 km from the prestigious, world-renowned vineyards of the Côtes de Beaune and Hautes Côtes de Beaune (various wine routes to explore, including the "Burgundy Wine Route" & the "Great Wines Route" extended by the illustrious "Great Crus Route"). In the heart of the Bresse Bourguignonne - cradle of the famous AOC of Bresse poultry - at the crossroads of the departments of Ain & Jura, at the crossroads of the Chalonnais, the Bresse of Jura, the Mâconnais, the Tournugeois-Clunisois (labeled "Land of Art and History") as well as the Bresse of Ain. Ideally located for exploring the region (A39 motorway 9 km away): 13 km from the renowned Bresse racetrack (multi-activity car, motorcycle, and karting track on 48 hectares), 22 km from Cuiseaux ("the Village of Painters"), 31 km from Pierre-de-Bresse, a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté", 27 km from the medieval town of Romenay, 28 km from Cuisery, one of the very exclusive 8 "Book Villages" in France, 35 km from the rare Truchère Nature Reserve (a remarkable protected ecosystem), 36 km from Tournus, 43 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (designated a "City of Art & History"), 46 km from Seurre, and 62 km from Beaune. A truly inspiring haven, brimming with charm and serenity, close to amenities, for a relaxing "green getaway" with family or friends!
