Our holiday flat is located around 150 metres above the lake in the popular holiday resort of Vira (Gambarogno) at the eastern end of Lake Maggiore, just before the border with Italy. The famous Swiss holiday resorts of Locarno and Ascona are within sight and only a stone's throw away by car. The idyllic villages of the Riviera del Gambarogno with romantic Ticino houses in winding alleyways and numerous beautiful beaches are also right on the doorstep. Since 2021, there have even been free sun loungers and parasols on the beaches run by the municipality of Gambarogno. SUP boarders will also find ideal conditions here.
The flat in Casa Aurelia is part of a well-maintained holiday residence. Six houses are generously spread out on a lushly planted hillside plot of around 16,000 square metres. As the holiday flat is on the ground floor, you can also sit on the large terrace surrounded by greenery, directly between palm trees and flowering shrubs. Under the cosy round arches, you can enjoy the lake and mountain panorama from outside in almost any weather. And in summer, the evening sun shines on our terrace for a long time while the opposite side of the lake with Locarno and Ascona is already in the shadow of the mountains. This is how you live:
The spacious apartment has an area of approx. 48 square metres including the covered terrace and thus offers more than enough space for 2 adults and 1 child (maximum 2 small children). The furnishings are predominantly in Italian country house style, complemented by some modern furnishings. If you are travelling with a baby, we will be happy to provide you with a foldable baby travel cot at no extra charge. Please let us know in good time.
- For guests who like to cook for themselves, we have had a new kitchen with a convenient induction hob, oven, microwave, energy-saving dishwasher and refrigerator since summer 2023.
- In summer 2022, we improved the sun protection on the terrace with side curtains, which provide additional shade on hot days, and
- equipped the flat with a new large-screen TV and a DVD/BlueRay player.
- The hot water and underfloor heating have been heated by an environmentally friendly heat pump since 2021.
- From 2018, a newly built bicycle garage will be available for mountain bikers to use free of charge.
- Since 2017, all walls and ceilings have been repainted with non-hazardous and odourless lime paint.
- Most of the furniture and furnishings were renewed in 2017.
- The double bed has a high-quality pocket spring mattress of medium firmness.
- There is an easy-to-use sofa bed for children.
- From the start of the 2017 season, there will also be an additional electric wall-mounted radiator in case the weather doesn't play along outside the heating period.

So if you wish, you can cook on the spot on your first evening and enjoy your dinner with a panoramic view.
