The Space:

Snow-dusted trees line the private road as you pull up to Forest Haven, and the crisp mountain air greets you with a quiet promise of rest. Tall east‑facing windows spill soft winter light across the loft‑style chalet, while the scent of pine lingers in every breath. After a day of trail‑side exploration, steam rises from the private hot tub and the fire pit glows, inviting you to unwind under a canopy of stars.

Sleeping arrangements

Two bedrooms each hold a queen bed, dressed with fresh linens, extra pillows, and blankets for cozy mountain nights. The shared bathroom offers a clean, functional space for your group of up to four guests.

Kitchen & dining

A full kitchen provides everything you need for a relaxed breakfast before a hike or a hearty dinner after a day outdoors. A dining area opens onto the spacious deck, making it easy to keep conversation flowing while meals are prepared.

Outdoor living

Step onto the deck to feel the forest surround you. A BBQ grill stands ready for casual meals, and a collection of yard games invites friendly competition for kids and adults alike. The private hot tub offers soothing warmth, and the fire pit creates a perfect gathering spot for winter evenings. The backyard is open and not fully fenced, so keep an eye on pets and children. Free on‑site parking is available.

Work & comfort

A dedicated workspace in a separate room with its own door lets you focus when needed, while fast WiFi and a Roku‑enabled TV keep you connected and entertained. Heating maintains a comfortable temperature during colder months, and window AC is available for warmer days.

Location

Forest Haven sits in Gerrardstown, a short drive from Berkeley Springs’ shops and restaurants, the historic river adventures of Harpers Ferry, and Winchester’s breweries and wineries. Nearby hiking trails provide year‑round access to the surrounding landscape, whether you seek a brisk winter trek or a gentle spring walk.

Perfect for

Pet‑friendly families, couples, or small groups of friends who want a quiet mountain retreat with space to relax, work, and play. Dogs are welcome; cats are not allowed due to allergies.

Notes

An indoor fireplace is present but currently decorative only. Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, though you may still notice leaves, pollen, or similar natural traces during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature leaves its gentle mark.

Returning home to VA

Just an overnight stay. On our way back home from northern New York. The place was nice. It is peaceful sitting on the deck. The check in process was a little tedious with various emails and downloads required. The Backstep is a little sketchy. Be careful walking in. Overall the place was nice

beautiful treetop setting

The property was immaculate with new furnishings. I was able to access the house an hour early on the day of arrival, thanks to great communication from owner. He checked in to make sure I didn't have any questions later that day. I booked the property for some peace and quiet and it certainly met my expectations. Stairs to loft room, where TV is located, are quite steep but my 10-year old dog and I got used to it.

Serene beauty

Words cannot express the experience we had at this beautiful cabin. They just would not do it justice, but I am going to try. Driving to the cabin, in the neighborhood, you feel a sense of serenity and peace. The neighborhood seems like a family place. Full of love and joy. Ample parking is provided at the cabin. The excitement amplified as we see a fire pit and what our view will be from the porch. We open the door to an absolutely clean and fresh smelling cabin. We arrived at dusk, which made our view out the large windows even more beautiful than the pictures on the site portrayed. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every second of our time in the cabin. We went grocery shopping at the food lion 14 min away, and just had a perfectly quiet retreat in the home. My two complaints, I couldn’t stay longer…and I couldn’t find a pen to sign the guest book. I am almost wary of writing a good review… because soon enough I won’t be able to afford to come back again. We are already planning our return trip with our kids and fur babies.

Beautiful Cabin in the woods

The house has been newly furnished and looks out over wooded valley. You're far enough away from everyone else, but it's a quick 15 minute ride to the Food Lion. Only limitation: the TV is in the bedroom in the loft.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Forest Haven in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
