The cabin was clean and well stocked. It truly felt like a home away from home. Communication with the host was wonderful. We hope to come back one day!
We loved our short stay at Sheltowee Cabin, the place was clean, comfortable and private, with great proximity to just about anything you’d want to do in RRG. The host is exceptional—responsive and helpful, generous with advise, and thoughtfully provides all kinds of area reference resources for guests so they can get as much out of their time as they’d like without having to do a lot of research an trial-and-error exploring. We will definitely be back!
This was a great location to stay in. The host has a really helpful binder with all the hikes and food places etc. Made it easy to choose hikes. Very clean and quiet
Wonderful place to stay while visiting the Red River Gorge. Geof was an amazing host and the place had everything you need. We loved the deck and we would stay again!
Place was very clean and well set up. We are Seniors and found the place easy to move around in and comfortable without confusing instructions and the like
Check-in was very easy. The owner also went above and beyond by providing trail recommendations ahead of time. The location was perfect - close to Natural Bridge and Daniel Boone National Forest. This was a cozy place to relax after a day of hiking.
We really enjoyed our stay. The evenings were relaxing hanging out on the porch listening to the rain and nature. Very clean and had everything we needed. Nice and close to a lot of trails and natural attractions.
A little out of the way, but in red river gorge everything seems far. It was a nice converted trailer that has been taken care of and even stocked with lots of things like food and toiletries if needed.
It was a perfect long weekend. The home was just what we needed to have a long girl's weekend and we really enjoyed everything about the accommodations. We will definitely be staying again.
We were very impressed with the property and how Geof communicated. We had no issues with check-in or check-out, and all of the amenities listed were just as advertised. We would definitely recommend this property to others who want a good experience

About the host
Hosted by Geof
I’m a long-time distance runner and backpacker, and the Red River Gorge completely stole my heart the first time I explored its trails. The quiet forests, the sandstone cliffs, the sense of peace you can only find out here—it all just clicked for me. I ended up buying this little getaway on a whim in 2021, and it’s become my personal retreat whenever I need to reset, breathe, and reconnect with nature. I’ve been slowly upgrading the place with the same care I put into planning a great trail day—thoughtfully, intentionally, and with the goal of making it a spot where people can truly unwind. Sharing it with guests feels natural, because I want others to experience the same calm, beauty, and adventure that made me fall in love with the Gorge in the first place. I hope your time here gives you the same sense of peace and wonder that keeps me coming back.
Why they chose this property
This is a hill runner's paradise and as I clean up the back bluffs and build trails it can be fun for the rock climbers and hikers. This place is no more than 30 minutes from almost all the trailheads and closer to much more. It is easily accessed by a paved county road, yet there are no other cabins or houses in sight.
What makes this property unique
The cabin offers a rare mix of true seclusion and easy access to the Red River Gorge - all while having the full comforts of home—high‑speed Wi‑Fi, a full kitchen, a full‑size washer and dryer, and more.
