Hello my name is Caroline and I am from The Netherlands. A number of years ago I decided to come to Ireland on my own on a cycling holiday. I had read a number of travelling books about Ireland especially the West of Ireland. One of the books claimed that Maam Valley is one of the loneliest places in Europe and I felt I had to go there. It was an amazing experience coming from the Netherlands when I found myself surrounded by these giant mountains, while cycling on the small winding road passing sheep and the cows grazing on the roadside. I sat there on my own for hours on a rock by the roadside absorbing this magnificent nature and I just didn’t want to leave. A number of years later I decided to go back to Ireland for another cycling trip. I met Marty an Irish man who owns a sheep farm just outside Clifden town. We became friends and some years later I decided to pack my bags leave The Netherlands and move to the West of Ireland. Art and interior design are two of my passions and Connemara is the ideal place for inspiration. I feel so lucky to live in Connemara surrounded by lovely people and stunning landscapes and nature. I now feel Connemara is my new home
