About this property

Gorgeous Retreat with Hot Tub

Welcome to Grey Havens, a unique and peaceful house in Oregon's wine country, owned and personally managed by a local couple. We are less than a half mile to beautiful downtown McMinnville, and just blocks from the north end of historic City Park. Enjoy our tasteful but fun decor and architecture, our comfy common areas, private backyard (with hot tub, fire pit, and several decks), and our well-appointed kitchen. Our house is perfect for anything from a wine-themed vacation with friends to a family trip.

You will have the whole house to yourselves, as well as the front and back yards, decks, and patio. This is a split-level house, with one bedroom on the main (2nd) level, one small bedroom down on the first level, the master on the third level, and a fourth bedroom on the fourth level, which is accessed by a secret stairway, via the garage. There are two sitting rooms (one with a small kitchenette) downstairs, to create a master suite. There is a dining room, and plenty of beautiful outdoor living space, including a hot tub.

You have room for three vehicles in the driveway, and the street parking in front of the house is almost always available. This is a good neighborhood for walking, riding bikes, or driving.

Other things to note:
Lots of original and/or local art, fun mid-century and other eclectic furniture styles. The house is pleasantly unexpected and fun to explore.

Perfect Valley getaway
This property and property owner/manager were great!! The house is a fun, comfortable, well stocked house. We loved how the house had space for everything from game night to some quiet time. Walkable to parks and town. Easy drive to wineries. Sally was fantastic, very quick to communicate and very welcoming. Loved this place and felt cared for

Just as described
Five adults on an annual bicycling adventure enjoyed this McMinnville house. The layout allowed for privacy and gathering, whether it be outside or inside. The welcome flowers and coffee were enjoyed throughout the stay. Host Sally was responsive and helpful. We enjoyed walking the neighborhoods and downtown where everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The seating inside and out was accommodating and comfortable. While not an issue for us, three bedrooms and one bathroom are accessed via a flight of stairs. We would stay here again if needing a big place. And yes, we did find the hidden room. ;-)

Highly Recommended - great base for Willamette Valley
Beautiful interior design, extremely comfortable, Hot tub is wonderful. The host was very responsive to all communications. This property is private and secluded despite being in a residential neighborhood. We spent many pleasant hours on the deck and in the hot tub. The kitchen is well-equipped. The house is an easy walk from downtown McMinnville, which abounds with good restaurants and wine-tasting rooms. There are several grocery stores within 2-3 miles. This house is a good reason to plan trips to McMinnville. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in the area.

Perfect Getaway
We recently rented this home for a birthday celebration with 6 women for a getaway in wine country. The location was excellent, easy walk to restaurants for dinner. The house itself was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. We loved the nice touches throughout, especially the locally sourced coffee for both French press and drop coffee maker. The hot tub was the perfect way unwind and became one of our favorite spots in the evening. The combination of great location, cleanliness, and details make our celebration unforgettable. We will definitely return in the future!

We are Dave and Sally. We are artists (music, poetry, and visual arts) and travelers. We have loved getting our first vacation rental ready for guests. Sharing our beloved house and Yamhill County with you is something we enjoy greatly.

Why they chose this property

We started looking for a house to make into a short term rental this past summer, and bought this house in October, 2021. We knew as soon as we stepped into this house that it is a special place--it is so comfortable and lovely, yet the quirky labyrinthine nature of the layout really struck our fancy. When you enter the property, you do enter a haven from the outside world--a place to make and eat food, hang around, talk, soak in the hot tub, play games, make art, play music--and a place to come back to, after exploring the wineries, shops, hiking, berry picking, etc that McMinnville and surroundings have to offer.

What makes this property unique

Several common areas to enjoy each other's company, yet the four bedrooms are at opposite corners of the house, and it is totally possible to be a hermit if you want to.
Managed by Sally and Dave, who live nearby. This house is our labor of love, not a cog in the wheel of a large management company.
