Water's edge, gated community, private dock with toys, community pool, hot tub
No detail was spared in outfitting this space, all with breathtaking lake views from nearly every window. The double slip dock is steps away, complete with SUPs, kayaks, an inflatable lily pad, plus a lift for your boat! Perfectly located within a gated, private hamlet with access to the hilltop community pool and clubhouse. Dockside delivery with pontoon rentals, Level 2 EV charger. Come see why we were featured in Architectural Digest, Birmingham Home & Garden and The Lakeside Life magazines!
The steps to the house descend between two massive boulders to the front door. The custom craftsmanship and attention to detail are immediately evident upon entering, as are the designer furnishings and decor. From the spacious living area, the double doors invite you to take in the incredible view from the covered porch. Next to the kitchen and living area, the keeping room is perhaps the most stunning room in the house, with two walls of windows to take in the lake on one side and the hillside on the other. The kitchen is also walled in counter to ceiling windows, as well as beautiful concrete countertops, a full-size freezer in addition to the refrigerator, and a separate ice maker in the butler's pantry. This floor, as well as the master suite, feature a Sonos audio system and support mobile Sonos speakers as well.
The upper level has two guest rooms, each with a queen bed, with views that make you feel like you're on top of the water! There is also a full bathroom on this level with plenty of shelf space and a huge shower (both showers in the house have Kohler shower heads with wands to make it easier to bathe kiddos). From this level, the adventurous ones in your party can climb the ladder access for the finished loft, which has four built-in twin beds and a couple of bean bags, along with a TV/soundbar setup that has an HDMI input for gaming devices. There is a removable ladder guard to keep little ones from ascending the ladder.
The secluded lower level is where you'll find the master suite, with a gorgeous king bed and a private access to the lower deck overlooking the lake. The master bath has a full-size tub and large walk-in shower. The washer and dryer are also found on this level, as well as access to the lower outdoor living area, complete with adjoining fireplace.
The lower deck, illuminated at night by string lights, has a large table for outdoor dining, a gas grill, a swing and a private outdoor shower. From here you'll access the 6-person hot tub, set in amongst the huge boulders, as well as the fire pit with a large Solo Stove. The walkway to the private dock, also illuminated with an assortment of lighting options and nearly level with the lower deck during summer months, leads to the double slip dock with lots of water toys, a Hydrohoist boat lift, shaded seating area, and a bunch of Adirondack chairs in the sun.

A few things to note:
For those unfamiliar with Smith Lake, please understand that the lake is located in a rural and somewhat remote area of Alabama; the same qualities that make it so serene and peaceful also lead to it having a bit of an "out there" feel. The roads coming in, especially the last 3/4 mile drive down the hill to our community's gate, are narrow, twisty and most lack stripes. Once inside our gate, the road is a paved one-way loop that's a bit steep and curvy but completely navigable with a 2-wheel drive (unlike some areas of the lake). There aren't street lights here, although we did install landscape lighting to illuminate the pathway and house after dark. The terrain at Point William, like much of Smith Lake, is rugged and steep; our houses here were uniquely positioned at the bottom of the slope right on the water, unlike many homes on the lake on top of bluffs with long walks down to the water. With that said, there are 25 steps from our parking pad to our front door; as mentioned, they are lit and we have handrails along most. You will find that AT&T works wonderfully here, but any other carrier doesn't work once you come down the hill from the pool and clubhouse. The home does offer wifi (via 300 mbps fiber optic), so we suggest guests utilize wifi calling when needed. We do have three outdoor cameras, all motion-detected and provide on-demand viewing by us (Ring system). They view the dock, the front door area, and the parking pad (all outdoor).

Thank you for staying with us and a positive review! I was unaware of any issues during your stay; had I been made aware I certainly would've remedied it immediately! The microwave was replaced immediately after your stay. We hope to see you and your family again!
We loved our family trip to this adorable house on Smith Lake! It is on a cove which makes it such a great spot on the lake. There are great views of the lake from the house. The dock was very close to the house which was very easy and convenient! The property manager was so helpful and easy to communicate with. We can't wait to go back!

Thank you Paige for the awesome review! Looking forward to having y'all back next summer!
We had an awesome time at Water’s Edge for the second year in a row. Jason is an amazing host who responds quickly and is constantly making upgrades to the house. Our two families fit comfortably and the house and dock offer so much to do that I never hear an “I’m bored” even from the teenagers. We’ve made it a annual tradition!

This is the best lake house we have visited! Clean, comfortable, amazing neighborhood, and the best part is it's located in a quiet cove where you can safely swim without heavy boat traffic. Everything is as pictured and listed. The owners were immediately responsive to any questions. We can't wait to come back!

Thanks Debbee, we're so glad y'all enjoyed your stay! What a hidden gem this time of year. We'll see you next time!
House is beautiful, water and dock are right out the back door and has amazing access to the lake. We had 2 families: (5 kids under 10, & 4 adults) the kayaks and close access to the water was amazing. The lilly pad was so great to swim from with the low dock. The part of the lake is perfect, not a lot a boat traffic, felt very private. The hosts were available and wonderful to work with. The title of this property certainly fits it is perfect in every way.

Absolutely serene setting and beautiful accommodations
Our family will be booking this home again! It’s a beautiful and well appointed home with enough space for everyone. The outdoor porches are perfect for morning coffee and evening drinks! Great outdoor table for doing alfresco style! The owner even provides SUP and Kayaks. I couldn’t be more impressed with the home or the management of the property. Book it before it’s gone!

The entire place was truly spectacular! The house was very clean and it’s a diamond on the lake. We had met family with kids and we truly had an incredible weekend. The owner is all over it. He was such an incredible help and didn’t miss a detail. Hoping to be back this summer.

We loved our stay at this lake house. The house and dock are absolutely beautiful. It was nice to have several kayak's and stand up paddle boards to add to the fun. Having access to the salt water pool was perfect for young children that are not yet comfortable in the lake. Jason was very helpful and answered any and all questions quickly. Highly recommend.

Thank you Lillie, we appreciate the positive feedback! We pride ourselves on staying on top of our guests' needs; glad we were able to meet our own expectation here!
This home is located in a quiet cove with amazing views of the lake. The best part of the home is thr dock - it’s perfectly situated and has all the best lake toys - kayaks, paddle boards, lily pad, chairs and covered seating. We rented a boat and were able to tie up to the dock nicely.
The home is well appointed and decorated. While the listing says the home sleeps 12, pay attention to the bedroom/bathroom layout if you have more than 6 adults with kids.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention Maria! Vrbo inexplicably counted our two couches as "beds" and changed our max guest count from 10 to 12. I've since changed it back to 10. Teens and other kids LOVE the loft space, but most adults for sure won't want to climb the ladder for bed! We appreciate the review and look forward to seeing y'all again next summer!
We were lucky enough to get Labor Day weekend at this amazing home. The home was well represented in the listing and pictures. The host jason over communicated, was very easy to get ahold of and responded quickly to questions. We brought our boat and Jason allowed us to use the boat lift which was a great perk to keep our boat covered and out of the weather. The way the dock sits in relation to the main channel of the lake also allowed the boat to be shielded from any boat wakes when not on the lift. Overall, the home had everything we needed for a quiet, relaxing weekend with family. We will be back again next year.

Awesome Chris, we're so glad you trusted us with your Labor Day weekend! See ya next year!
Clean comfortable house with plenty ofroom for everyone. Jason was extremely nice and easy to communicate with. Any questions I had were quickly handled.. no delays.. that is always so important to me. He was building add-on to his lower deck that will have a hot tub and shower. Not quite finished when we were there, but it will look great once done. It is close!!only suggestion I might give, would be to add maybe one more tv somewhere.. master or maybe held by moose horns in great private outdoor seating area.. Not a huge deal for us since we had an ipad for the 2 year old.. but others might want to have more than one tv for a family. overall, great location, great stay, great house. lots of paddle boards and kayaks for everyone to use... Thanks Jason!!

Thanks for the great review Matthew, it was a pleasure hosting you and your family and friends! We're just as excited to get the new amenities finished up to make the place that much more enjoyable and unique. We do have plans to add a TV up in the teen loft; once we get the logistics sorted out we'll do so. We'll see you on the next visit!
About the host
Hosted by Jason Smith
After nearly a decade of experiencing private rentals from a guest perspective, our family decided to buy our favorite property we've frequented for years and become hosts! Our family of four practically live on the water most days near our home in Georgia, but with family in the Smith Lake area, owning here just made sense. A keen familiarity doesn't hurt, as I spent most of my youth on Smith Lake, so I consider myself a bit of a local expert. Tiffany and I have tons of experiences to draw from and have tried to incorporate all those good things we've picked up from traveling all into our lake home.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property from the moment we saw it; it's truly a special place, both inside and out. We've never experienced a residence with such stylish detail and charm, and the layout is absolutely perfect for our large family, offering tons of space to entertain! We love being only steps from the water and having so few vertical steps to it, and the way the dock is situated just inside the protected cove. There's a reason this home was once the cover feature for Birmingham Homes and Garden magazine!
What makes this property unique
We truly believe this to be the best lake house on Smith and couldn't be in a better location than Point William. The community has such a cool vibe and it's conveniently located in the "triple creek" area, which we believe is the most scenic of all the lake. We've paid such attention to detail and it's our hope to make repeat guests out of those we meet; this house certainly had that affect on us!
