Had a wonderful first visit to Lubec

For us, the large, securely fenced yard made all the difference for our Jack Russell. Beautiful views of the bay from the porch, the living area, and the upstairs bed room. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable although the stairs are a little steep. Our host was quick to respond to any of our questions and the house is an easy drive to a well stocked IGA grocery store. I recommend bringing your passport and going to Campobello Island. See Liberty Point for some beautiful cliff views.

Lobster Lair

Great yard for dogs. Beautiful view from house. Stairway to bedroom not the easiest for older people or those with even slight mobility problems. View from upstairs bedroom was beautiful. Bed was comfortable but had a strong odor that was very unpleasant. Very charming little place, maybe just needs a little more TLC.

Exactly what we are looking for in a get away. Close to town, hiking, birding, etc., or just watching the sunset over the water. A great home away from home.

Great location and views

The location and views were amazing. Beautiful sunsets. My dog loved the yard and I’m not sure why but she also loved the sleeping cottage (Lobster Lair) which was adorable. The bedroom in the main house was large with a very comfortable bed, stunning views. The house was clean and comfortable, better than pictures depict in my opinion. This has been our favorite vacation so far, loved the town and the stay. Highly recommend.

Perfect location in Lubec!

We have stayed at Halibut House twice. It is a great spot to explore Lubec and the area. Walking distance to downtown. Easy access to Canada. 10 minutes from the Roosevelt House and Park in Campobello. An hour and 20 minutes to St. Andrews. The cabin has everything we needed. Clean and neat. nice king bed with an amazing view to wake up to! Our pup loves the fenced in yard - a great perk!

Slice of relaxed heaven

You can’t beat the view and the sunsets. The proximity to the pier is amazing. Everything is within one hour to see. So wonderful fisherman’s war restaurant we found a little town about 45 minutes away with a nice little shops. Great yard for dogs absolutely loved it.

Vacation as it should be

We spent a peaceful week at the Halibut House and Lobster Lair. The house was clean and very well organized. Check in was smooth. We were amazed by the absolute beauty of the views from the house's living room and bedroom windows. Our dogs had a blast in the big fenced yard. Although Lubec is a sleepy town with not much happening past 8pm, we had a week filled with activities. Whether you enjoy hiking, boating, bird watching, walking the shore hunting sea glass, antiquing or exploring, there's something for you in this area. We made many of our meals at the cabin and the kitchen was stocked with everything I needed to prepare meals. The cabin is convenient to grocery stores, gas station and seafood shops. Only a quick walk from town, you can have your morning coffee on the harbor. I appreciated Angela's thorough and timely responses for my many questions before our stay. She was avaliable to ensure we had all we needed and were enjoying our stay. It was hard to say goodbye to the relaxation and family connection we enjoyed at Halibut House when our week came to an end. We were already planning our return to Maine on our drive home.

We LOVE the Halibut House!

We had a fantastic stay at the Halibut House and exploring the Lubec, ME area. This place is everything we needed and the description was spot on. Best feature - the view of Johnson Bay and the fenced in dog yard! We couldn't have asked for anything better. One of the best vacations ever. We will return someday and when that day comes, we will definitely stay at the Halibut House again. Thank you, Angela, for everything!

Great location in Lubec

Best part is the location, a large deck overlooking Johnson Bay--seals, loons, scoters, and other birds. Close to downtown Lubec, Campobello Island, West Quoddy lighthouse and trails, and the amazing network of trails developed by Cobscook Shores and other land trusts. We had a few snafus checking in and getting the wi-fi set-up, but our host Angela was very responsive and prompt in getting things fixed up and provided us lots of information of things to do. Great yard for dogs - thanks! The cottage would be small for more than 2 people and the stairs to the bedroom are narrow and steep, and the bathroom small, but otherwise the cottage is well-appointed, Everything you need.

Anniversary Stay at The Halibut House

My wife and I stayed at the Halibut House for 5 days to celebrate our anniversary and get away from the hustle and bustle for a little while. From the start Angela was very good with communication. Whenever I had a question she was quick to reply which was very helpful. The town is a quaint fishing port on Johnson bay. There’s lots of things to do in the area. We went digging for soft shell clams, went on a whale watch, explored the lighthouses of the area, plus more. We loved the Halibut House. The fenced in yard was amazing for our 5# puppy. He had a blast running free!!! The views of the western horizon are amazing at sunset. The house was stocked with just about everything you need. We bought local lobsters and brought our own meats and veggies to make a clam/lobster boil which was awesome!!! Overall the stay was great!!! Thank you to Angela and Sophie for all the information and work that is put into making sure our stay was great!!! We’ll be back!!!

Cozy Cottage

Quaint little cottage right on the bay. Spectacular views including sunsets. Lovely, large deck with comfortable seating. Beautiful bay view from inside also. Two comfortable chairs allow you to enjoy the views! The queen size bed is in a cozy loft. The stairs could be a bit challenging for an elderly guest. Bathroom is a bit tiny. Everything you need for the kitchen is supplied. Large enclosed yard for pets or kids. Several nice restaurants in the town center. Lovely breeze at night. Very relaxing time away!

Wonderful dog-friendly accommodations with AMAZING view!

We loved Halibut House! We went with friends and brought our dogs. The house is adorable with a wonderful waterfront location. The yard is large and fully fenced in, which was great for the dogs. The town has a few restaurants and a brewery, which we enjoyed. Everything Lubec has to offer is a mile or less from the rental. The town itself is a bit sleepy, but it was nice being forced to slow down and relax. The owner and the caretaker are wonderful to deal with and extremely responsive. I would highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful waterfront property, great cottage

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Lubec gem. The cottage was super close to everything in town. We loved having the main bedroom upstairs and the “bunkhouse” next door for the kids. It was a relaxing low key space and a great property for dogs (fully fenced in). We highly recommend, thank you!

Amazing Views!

We had a lovely four nights at The Halibut House in early June. The property was as described. Perfect cute cottage for the two of us and our pup. Loved the decor and it had everything we needed. The deck is perfect for drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The view was AMAZING! The sunsets were beautiful and the view of Johnson Bay was spectacular. Loved the fenced yard for the dog and it was much larger than we expected. Loved the Lubec area. We are looking forward to another visit and will stay here again!

Pet friendly, our two dogs had a blast. Small cottage but came with all the amenities needed. We enjoyed our stay in spite of the rainy weather. Lots of hiking trails around the area and a chocolate shop just down the road. What more could you ask for? Scenic area with lots to explore. Only a short distance to Campobello Island.

Great location and view!

Cozy little place right on the water. Would definitely return and we truly loved our stay. Stairs would be a difficult to navigate for someone older or with limited mobility. Only one improvement that I can think of even suggesting would be to recommend a new mattress soon. But not a deal breaker! All other positives about the cabin offset. The owner was wonderful to work with and this is truly one of those places we hope to return too often. We loved it so much!
