Our secluded estate house in Mendocino County is surrounded by nature. We are equidistant, (40 minutes drive), between the towns of Mendocino Village and Ukiah.
A scenic drive through towering redwoods brings you to our enchanting country estate. We offer exclusive private rental of a quiet place suitable for artists and writers, family and professional groups, exercise, dance, yoga, and spiritual retreats. This secluded off the grid, solar-powered venue offers uncommon ambiance, tranquility, and unspoiled beauty. Our natural setting is host to myriad wildlife and birds.
Our spacious house has 6 bedrooms and multiple sleeping spaces, including a large Dorm. There is also a Sunroom with a queen-sized futon, 5 Baths. a luxurious multi-bed master suite, and nearby pet-friendly annex suite that has a small refrigerator and microwave. Our sleeping porch, which sleeps up to 3, is available during the warmer months. Our standard rental comfortably accommodates groups of up to 20 overnight guests. Options for somewhat larger groups available.
Dine in our spacious garden offering vegetables and herbs (Seasonal), or on one of several large deck areas. There is a library bedroom, a computer for your exclusive use, a well-stocked commercial kitchen, and a swimmable pond with a canoe, a hot tub with soothing jets, two sizable fireplaces, free WIFI (full coverage/several zones), a large multi-purpose Meeting Room/workshop/yoga studio/disco, a Media Room including Roku, Netflix, and video collection, sound system (speakers all with adjustable volume controls throughout), hiking trails, and river access. All linens and firewood are provided.
Less than 5 miles away from Montgomery Redwoods State Park and local Hot Springs. Located less than 3 hours north of San Francisco Bay, a world away in untamed majesty!

Tara is from London and Stuart is from New York City. We have been married for many years and we share many interests such as native plants and herbs, organic gardening, green living, solar energy, and holistic massage. These pursuits are reflected in the off the grid estate we are listing, which has been our labor of love. Tara has over 20 years of extensive experience in various types of body therapies and is certified in therapeutic massage, Aroma Therapy, Shamanic Stone therapy, Rosen Method bodywork and Rosen Movement.

Our rural setting is a special place. We strive to function in harmony with the natural environment. Many native plants have been used for landscaping and natural materials have been used for buildings. We care about preserving the pristine quality of the land and the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood.
What makes this property unique
Our exclusive quiet, private and secluded location is ideal for communing with nature, bird watching, hiking, mushrooming, swimming, star gazing, and Summer berry picking. The local wildlife is astounding. We often have deer that come right onto the lawn, kingfishers, many varieties of ducks, occasional herons, egrets, cormorants and families of river otters who visit our lake-pond.
We are nearby world-famous Montgomery Woods State Park and hot springs and less than an hour from the Mendocino Coast. We are also less than an hour from lovely Anderson Valley and wine tasting.
We are completely off-the-grid so our natural setting is unmarred by power lines. Our power needs are supplied by 42 large solar panels. (We also have a backup generator just down a private access road which is very promptly employed when needed.) We have staff on hand on a separate parcel who are always just a phone call away.
We have a large Workshop Room, two fireplaces and a comfy Media Room. Our enormous kitchen is well stocked with dinnerware, pots, pans, utensils and other gadgets. It has a Wolf stove with two ovens and a substantial island with a butcher block top that is the envy of cooking enthusiasts. If you prefer to not do your own cooking, we have long-term relationships with some excellent local caterers to whom we can refer you. They offer organic, vegetarian, vegan, conventional cooking as well as menus geared to your specific dietary needs.
Our luxurious Master Suite has a trundle/day bed that converts into two singles in addition to the comfy king bed. We have a Dorm room that sleeps four and includes a semi-private sleeping area. Two of the upstairs bedrooms share a private deck with tables and chairs. We have a pet-friendly suite, just across the driveway, in our Annex building. There is also a sleeping porch for use during the warmer months and a Sun Room with a queen-sized futon.
