Stayed here for 4 nights and loved it! 1st of all, Kate is an amazing host. She's was very attentive and quick to respond to anything we needed or questions we had.The place is so comfortable and had everything we needed. I appreciated all the small details in place to make our stay enjoyable. Parking is very easy. And the apartment was nice and quiet. There's no a/c, but we didn't need it at all. The temps drop so much at night and we used the fan and it was enough. I highly recommend renting this place if you're in the area. We liked that it was outside of Durango but felt centrally located to traveling to Ouray and other places.

This is the cleanest rental I’ve ever stayed at! Everything about this spot was so thought out and pretty! I appreciated the small framed notes throughout and the fact that you provided makeup washcloths. The parking situation was super ideal and the location was so pretty. I have never seen a marmot until I pulled in front of the complex and a cute little guy was standing in the grass!! This spot was extra convenient for our plans at Purgatory Ski Resort, a very quick drive. I would consider staying at properties by this same host just for how well they communicated and how clean it was, great attention to detail. There is no AC, but it’s overall a perfect temperature in the evenings (and we knew before we came that there would be no AC). Maybe bring a little fan if you get warm easy.

First of all, our host was great. She sent my girlfriend & I detailed information about our stay from the day we booked it, the day of, and throughout our entire stay. We never had an issue or needed to contact her, but she definitely made us feel 100% confident that if we ever needed her assistance she would be readily available.Second, the Bear Cave is super cozy. Exactly what you see in the pictures and even better in person. We entered the room and both said "Wow!". We were pleasantly surprised on sight and every day of our stay we looked forward to returning to the Bear Cave to rest.Third, the amenities really are great. We were provided with several towels, plates & silverware (Both washable and disposable), paper towels, etc. The Bear Cave is definitely well stocked and we never felt like we were missing anything.Fourth, the scenery and aesthetic of the grounds. On several mornings we'd slide the curtain open to the back window and it was textbook winter wonderland. The trees out back are very cute and look amazing with thick snow on their branches and a flurry around them. Even the parking garage is scenic. Park facing the mountains and it looks like a framed picture. The Bear Cave faces the parking area and that made it very convenient to unload and load our car, because we could just enter and exit through the back when bringing stuff in. Though we always locked that door and went around when leaving. Overall, this is an excellent place and 10/10 recommend.

Bear Cave Review

I highly recommend the Bear Cave - it is very cozy for 1-2 people. The kitchen is perfect for having breakfast and preparing meals if you don’t feel like going out. Short drive to Main Street of Durango and close to Silverton and Ouray and lots of outdoor activities. The community has a pool and hot tub on-site and there is a nice restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.

Hi! I’m Kate, and I’m so happy to share our cozy mountain getaway with you. My husband and I live nearby with our two young boys, and we spend a lot of time exploring the outdoors, hiking, and soaking in the peaceful mountain air.

We created this space as a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and make lasting memories—and we truly love being able to share that experience with others.

I want every guest to feel relaxed, welcomed, and completely at home.

Thank you for considering our place for your stay!

Why they chose this property

We chose Cascade Village because it offers the perfect balance of peaceful seclusion and easy access to outdoor adventure. Surrounded by towering trees, breathtaking mountain views, and quiet starry nights, it’s a true retreat from the hustle and bustle.

We love how it feels tucked away, yet it's still close to hiking trails, alpine lakes, and charming local spots. Whether you're here to explore or simply relax and recharge, this neighborhood truly captures the beauty and calm of mountain living.

What makes this property unique

What makes our condo special is the way it blends the cozy charm of a mountain retreat with the convenience of a great location. Nestled in a quiet area with beautiful forest views, it's still just minutes from trails, ski areas, and local favorites.

We’ve added warm, thoughtful touches throughout to make it feel like a true home away from home—whether you're curled up by the fireplace, sipping your morning coffee on the balcony, or simply unwinding after a day outdoors.

It’s simple, comfortable, and the perfect base for your mountain adventures.
