About the host
Hosted by Greg
We are a family-owned and operated vacation rental. We are not a nameless/faceless corporation, only concerned with maximizing profit margins. Our top priority is providing a comfortable and fun stay for our guests. We love sharing our home where families and friends can get together in a comfortable space. Black Bear Holler offers plenty of activities from hiking and fishing to cornhole, ping pong, and poker, to doing absolutely nothing but sitting and enjoying the views and wildlife! Food is an integral part of any family/friends gathering, so we've stocked the kitchen with every appliance, dish, pot/pan, and utensil you could imagine. There's a beautiful wooden, hand-carved, live-edge table with chairs and bench seating for 8, so there's plenty of room for gathering together. While we're a pet-free property, we do love dogs! We donate 1% of our gross revenue (before taxes and expenses) to the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office to fund a new kennel shelter for unhoused dogs.
Why they chose this property
In 2022, we stayed at a VRBO in Cambridge. We had a great weekend and loved the area. As we drove home, we looked to see if there were any properties for sale that we could turn into a vacation home for ourselves. This property had just gone on the market the Friday before. Based on the pictures, we knew we'd love it here. A few months later and we were the proud owners of this beautiful home! We still love staying here ourselves, and do so whenever we can. This gives us a unique perspective as a guest, and helps us identify opportunities for improvement. We welcome your ideas from your own experience and look forward to hearing from you!
What makes this property unique
We love nature and the outdoors, and this log cabin is the perfect place for both! There are 10.5 acres to wander around on, two fishing ponds, and this beautifully comfortable home to hunker down inside when the weather is bad. The views from the deck and the sunroom are fantastic. You can sit for hours, listening to the birds and the bullfrogs, and watching the wildlife move through the holler. We regularly see deer and turkey, and have also seen foxes. There are binoculars near the door to help you get that "up close and personal" experience. During football season, there's no better place to watch the Buckeyes play than in the Buckeye Cave!
