If you do not like spending your time in the museums you can visit Signoria Square, the Old Bridge, the Lungarno, Boboli garden's etc. etc. .A very original event to see is old Florence football's, which is not a football match but an old way to train boys in the art of fight. Today you can see this event, in S. Croce Square, on June 16th, 24th and 30th to celebrate the Patron Saint S. Giovanni. On 30th June there is the final match and then a fireworks show.

It is a wonderful city where you can admire the Mangia' s tower in the Del Campo' s Square and many other interesting places. Del Campo Square is well know for two horse races: on 2nd July 'Provenzano horse-race' and on 16th August the more important & famous 'Assunta horse-race'. Nine of the city districts take part in the race. The horses run around the...
..shell for 3 times & the winner which ranks first wins, even without its jockey! The prize is called 'Drappellone' and it is made by a different artist each year. The prize is then jealously kept in the district museum. Do not forget to visit the old Lucca's Villas, where can admire the most beautiful old residences furnish with a their original furniture, and surrounded by delightful parks. In less than 6 Km there is Collodi,'Pinocchio's' village. Here the children can spend an afternoon in the ricreation ground, while the adults can visit both the park of the Garzoni Villa's where there is a Butterfly House and the Villa. In Montecarlo,a charming and fortified little village on the hills, the traditional harvest feast is held the second week of September. In a few words, this area is for those people who love the countryside and sports activities but it is also for those who want to relax, visit art cities and enjoy themselves at night in the many restaurant and bar scattered in the area.

Thanks Ben.
It was a pleasure hosting you and your family.
I'm sorry there was something you didn't like. Could you let me know what we could improve?
Thanks.
We had a great time in this very clean hillside Tuscan house. The property was well equipped and very clean. Kiara was so helpful in helping us find it - we were very late due to flight issues. Good sized bedrooms with more than enough room for at least 6 adults. The steep incline to reschedule the propert may be preclusive to those of a nervous disposition and a few more towels would have been nice plus some welcome basics like milk & bread. But lovely stay overall.

I'm really glad you enjoyed our property and I hope you loved my city.
I'm sorry that three towels each (one for the face, one for the bidet and the other for the shower) seemed few to you, no one in all these years has ever complained. I would not like you to have mistakenly used the bath towels for the pool because otherwise I don't understand.
For the welcome we usually prepared a dinner but with the covid we had to give up.

UNEDUCATED PEOPLE WITH NO RESPECT FOR OTHERS OR HOUSE RULES.
I am making this response after a few days because I can’t deny that this family have disappointed me and made me very angry.
For the first time I have had guests so irresponsible towards others and with no respect for the house rules, but I suppose there is always a first time. Obviously they cannot write about all of the things that they found wrong with the house because they have already written “ your house is amazing”, “everything is perfect”, “everything is fine”, and they never once complained about anything broken or missing.
You arrive to the house via a communal road which is maintained by the local council and this year they have been running behind but they have promised to repair and improve the road at the end of the summer. Also it is a country lane and immersed within woodland and nature.
The house is equipped with everything and the only part that is damaged are some paving stones on part of the pavement surrounding the house. These have cracked for a third time since the house was built. I contacted the construction company when it first happened to check that it was safe. They confirmed that it is and advised me to wait a few years for the terrain to settle before making definite repairs.
Let’s begin:
They asked to check in early because they had small children, We aim to always please our guests (whenever it is possible) and our gardener and cleaner jumped through hoops to please them and then they arrived an hour late.
When they arrived I gave them special permission to enter into the grounds with the car to unpack their luggage but I pointed out that this was only to unload the car and at all times afterwards it must be parked outside in our small
private parking area in front of the gate because the lawn has an automated irrigation system.(Therefore the car cannot remain on the lawn to prevent damage to this system).
They arrived on Saturday and by Wednesday they had already torn three laces on four of the curtains on the gazebo. They were also held with green rubber ties (which we cannot now find) because the day before we had experienced a lot of wind and we had secured them as much as possible to prevent damage. They did not even consider this.
At the time of checkout, the cleaning lady and I carried out our usual control to make sure they had not left anything behind or damaged anything. Unfortunately we noticed that they had torn the upholstery and padding on the main sofa (circa 1830), also they had broken some glasses and a couple of plates. I called them into the house to explain the damage to the sofa and the woman said that they hadn’t used it and it was in that condition when they arrived. The stuffing was on the floor and the cleaner said she saw the three children jumping on the sofa upon arrival (She said nothing at the time as she doesn’t speak English). I have not asked for a single euro from them and know this is just an excuse but they stuck with their story that it was already torn and they hadn’t touched it. At this point I started a list of all the damage that I could see that they had done. They continued to say about everything “We didn’t use it, it was already like that”. At this point the man placed his hand on my shoulder and turned me around and said “In this house everything is broken”. Obviously after he touched me by laying his hand on me, I lost my temper and rudely told him to go away.
When they’d finally gone we also saw that they had scratched the dining room table (the table is also antique, circa 1809), they’d twisted three deck chairs and left a lot of disorder in the bedrooms.
I AM NOT REQUESTING ONE EURO BUT ONLY TO TELL YOU THE EXCUSES MADE FOR YOUR MISUSE AND LACK OF RESPECT FOR THINGS THAT ARE NOT YOURS.
I will not ask for reimbursement for the sofa because the cloth had some wear and tear but it was not ripped or broken, therefore I will have to substitute it. However I thank you very much that now I have to have it reupholstered. Also I had to explain all the damage to the sofa, the missing deckchairs and all the other combined things
to the new family who arrived that afternoon. Luckily I was able to find matching new deckchairs and they were successfully delivered within a few days. The sofa and table had to be left as you’d left them until the end of the season, when they have to be repaired.
A couple of things to consider: If you really want to rent another house (the poor owners), choose a house that isn’t filled with antiques but a house filled with furniture like IKEA which can be changed after 365 days each year. Above all learn to educate yourselves to respect items that belong to others. It’s a shame I can’t attach photographs of what you’ve done. I forgot to mention the chicken coop. Behind the house there is a coop and you complained when leaving but in fact when you arrived you said how sweet it was for the children. It is carefully placed in a position that is not near a bedroom window, only the bathroom.

Beautiful Villa with Outstanding View
Our family of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this beautiful Villa. The pool and grounds are meticulous. Kiara and Anna, the owners, are lovely people. They catered a dinner for us one evening that was superb and a highlight of our trip. The road up the mountain is not for the faint of heart, but the beautiful view was worth the ride. You will not be disappointed.

We are happy that you all had a good holiday at our house.
Well, what about the road, definitely for you Americans (accustomed to huge streets) it was really small, but in our country the roads are more or less like this !!
You're some really lovely people and I hope to see you again.
You will be always in our hearts !!

I highly highly recommend this holiday rent and we
Buca Del Tasso is a beautiful house in a stunning location run and owned by extremely friendly people who will go out of their way to be helpful and make your stay even more enjoyable. The house itself is built from reclaimed stone from the original Tuscan farm building and so it has maintained the authentic Italian look that as visitor to this part of the country we were keen to find. The traditional exterior is complemented by the interior–beautiful Luccan furniture and cloth is just what you would expect. The great thing about the house itself is that not only does it look good, it all works! The showers are hot and powerful and the bathrooms clean and bright while the kitchen works perfectly. There’s a great mix of old meets new–tradition meets function– that makes the actual stay a real pleasure. The master bedroom–a four poster extravagance– has the same view as the sitting area downstairs. Both these rooms look straight out over the hill edge onto a beautiful valley which tumbles down into Collodi, the Pinnocchio city.Photos rarely do views particularly and so I’m not sure how they come out on the website, but the view really is what this property is all about. Well, that and the pool, which shares the same view. The grounds are great–just what you need to make secluded even more private. There are a dozen or so old olive trees that produce the finest olive oil i’ve ever had.If you ask Kiara, she might give you some to try.The tranquillity and the beauty is obvious on arrival, but its the help that went with it that made it so special for us.Kiara wanted to show us Lucca;tell us where to eat;what to do;how to do it.The villa is about 20 mins up a hill, which is again about 20 mins from Lucca on the way to Pescia. Its a great place to explore the rest of Northern Tuscany from–but you can check all this out on travel website. To be honest, while we liked Lucca and its history and walls etc, there’s only so many ice creams you can eat and Renaissance you can look at.And when the alternative is lying in your own pool overlooking an amazing view without any noise at all,the idea of leaving to do anything else isn’t very attractive. So, the location is amazing, the house is just right, the grounds and pool beautiful, the things that you want to be functional, functional, the owners wonderful and the area stunning. There’s nothing not to like about Buca Del Tasso.I highly highly recommend this holiday rent and we will definitely come back soon.
