The large deck is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee while you greet the sun, and it's a beautiful, shady oasis in the evenings. Perfect for escaping the blazing afternoon heat of July and August. Walk upriver, jump in and enjoy the cool and refreshing water of the Blackfoot River and float back down to the house for the perfect afternoon cool-down. If you're here in the fall, winter, or spring, the two wood stoves inside the house create a cozy, cabin like serenity. Wildlife is abundant, with sightings of deer, elk, bear, otters, beavers, eagles, osprey, songbirds, owls, and many others, remind you that this is a wild and scenic place. This is a unique piece of property with just the right amount of privacy, yet quick and easy access to lively Missoula. I am here to help. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out. I store my boats and occasionally occupy the trailer which is located on the property. Rest assured, there is plenty of space here and your privacy will be respected.

About the host

Host profile image
I have been guiding fly fishing trips on the rivers of western Montana since 2009. After a successful career as owner and co-founder of Eclipse Engineering, Inc., I left the confines of the office to live out my dream on the river. In 2014 I took that one step further and purchased my dream home on the bank of the famous Blackfoot River, where I offer full and half day guided fly fishing trips.

Originally from Billings, Montana, I moved to the Missoula area in 1986 to attend the University of Montana. I decided early on that Missoula would be my home. The rivers and mountains of western Montana are like no other. Within minutes you can escape the confines of the city and be in the wilderness and there are over 300 miles of float-able rivers within an hour of town. It was love at first sight.

I have been hosting since 2010 when the original Trout Bungalow came online in Bonner, Montana. After a short hiatus from hosting, I decided to list my property on the Blackfoot in 2022. I absolutely love to share this space with my friends and guests and hope that you will come visit. And while you're at it book a day or two of fly fishing with me...You won't regret it!

Cheers! Mark

Why they chose this property

There is no other property like it on the lower Blackfoot River. Float in or float out from the property. Short 13 mile drive to downtown Missoula. The view of the river is stunning and the house is located on a dead-end lane, well-away from the busy highway...which is something the other vacation rentals on the lower Blackfoot river can not offer. If you love fishing you'll love this property. If you love outdoor activity, you will love this property. If you love to experience downtown Missoula, with all its shops, restaurants, and bars, you will love this property.

What makes this property unique

The Blackfoot River is just steps outside your door! I fell in love with this property 35 years ago when floating the Blackfoot River and was lucky to have purchased it in 2014. It's the perfect space to enjoy a leisurely vacation and yet have the amenities of the city nearby.

Access to Missoula is via the busy Highway 200. Most, if not all of the other vacation rentals on the lower 10 miles of the Blackfoot river are situated right next to this very busy highway. This property is unique in that regard...it is located on a dead end lane and is secluded from the highway.

Another very unique benefit of this property is the direct access to thousands of acres of public land and wilderness. People don't realize just how close we are to some really great back-country snowmobiling and skiing.

Full and half day floats are possible from and to the property. There's a swimming hole just directly up-river from the house and it's such a great way to cool off in the summer heat...jump in and float down to the house!

There are so many amenities nearby. The renowned Kettlelhouse Amphitheater is 8 miles away. Golf at the beautiful Canyon River Golf Course just 12 miles away. Lake boating and fishing are just 30 minutes from the house at Salmon and Seeley Lakes. Downtown Missoula is a short 15 minute drive where you'll find shopping, fine dining, galleries, and a vibrant nightlife.

I feel like there really is no other property like this one. Please book a stay and enjoy all that it has to offer!
