Our family of 4 had the absolute best vacation thanks to this beautiful home, large dock and perfect South Torch Lake location. The property was so cozy, nicely appointed and had everything we needed with easy access to Traverse City, Elk Rapids, Alden, Bellaire and all of our favorite “up North” destinations. We’re grateful for the family memories we made and will definitely be back!
The host was extremely responsive, and the house was clean and inviting. The only issue we had was the front door. Lock was a little difficult to lock from the outside otherwise a great location to stay on torch lake
The property and the lake were very nice. We spent a lot of time on the dock. The sunsets are beautiful! The house was very well equipped. Alisa was quick to respond to us.
Alisa was great. Provided all the information we needed for our stay. Cottage is located on the beautiful south shore. Amazing views of the lake. The cottage is comfortable and had everything we needed. The dock/deck was outstanding for sunbathing and incredible sunset views. Plenty of outdoor seating was available. We will definitely stay again.
The home was well stocked and we absolutely loved the view of the lake. Wish there was a fire pit in the back yard. Also, there were three ladies that needed more space for toiletries in the bathroom. Thank you so much

Torch Lake "Family Fun" in the Sun!❤️🌞
Our family enjoyed our stay at this property! The views in each room are spectacular. Beautiful sunrises & sunsets. The sandy bottom beach and shallow water 💦 makes for so much family fun in the sun! 🌞
Thank you for opening up your home and allowing us the opportunity to build more happy memories on amazing Torch Lake! 😊
The house was in the perfect location for the sand bar. This house is at the quiet end of the sand bar. So if you like piece this is your place. However if you want to be in the crowd its a short boat ride or paddleboard ride.
This is a cute little house that was perfect for our family. Very clean and had everything we needed. Response time was very fast for the one issue we had (coffee maker broken, no big deal). The lake is so clean and nice and not as busy as we dreaded. Really close nice market and cute town of Alden. We loved it here!
Our family absolutely loved staying here. Everything was better than expected. We had two littles with us (2 yr old & 3 yr old) and the water toys and bin of toys in the house were a huge hit. You can't get much better than Torch Lake and this house was fantastic. We can't say enough good things about it. Alisa was so quick to respond with my random questions and was so kind.
We had a lovely week on Torch Lake. With kids ranging from 12-5, the shallow waters directly in front of the property were perfect for our family. The home itself was perfectly sized for our family of five, giving everyone their own space while also providing nicely sized family spots. The house is incredibly quaint with many charming decorative touches. It brought back many memories of lake vacations from my own childhood. It’s also important to mention that this house comes incredibly well stocked for a rental. Every kitchen tool you could possibly need, and then-some, was available to us. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking to enjoy Torch Lake!
This was our first trip to Torch Lake, and staying on the beach was our top priority. This home is on the south end of the lake and the lake is absolutely amazing. We swam each day in the clear water. Beach towels, water floats, and a paddle board were available too which was nice.
The owner was helpful and responsive for our entire trip. When we could not access NBC to watch the Olympics, she signed up for Sling the same day to help.
We visited the last week in July which happened to be the hottest of the summer. The lack of air conditioning was a drawback as the house was very hot, even with the fans. This would likely not be a problem if the temperatures were in the 70s.
Also, the house has not been updated, so expect the feel of a cottage that hasn't changed much in decades. Updated towels and linens would be a good idea. It was clean and did have all the supplies we needed.
We were so excited to visit torch lake! Rented a boat for the week and drove 8 hours to vacation here. Arrived on a Saturday to mouse poop all over the kitchen counter, on dish-ware, along the floor in bedroom off the kitchen. Immediately reached out to the homeowner . No response from her until 8 hours later. Had to clean all of this up before we could use anything or even put our groceries away. The owner did text us at 2 AM letting us know she would have an exterminator come out on Monday… in the meantime we bought traps placed them in the kitchen and garage where they were coming in. After catching several mice, we decided to pack up and leave. We took the financial loss on our boat rental because unfortunately there were no other properties available to rent on the entire lake. The owner was far from polite or considerate. Stating that she had no control over there being mice in the house and acted like getting an exterminator 2 days later was acceptable. She only refunded us because VRBO finally stepped in as this was a health amd safety concern.

This was an isolated occurrence and we addressed it as soon as possible. I'm happy to say, the exterminator didn't see any mice when he arrived there the next day and there have been no reports from prior or subsequent renters this summer. Perhaps the little guy just sneaked in when you were heading out to the lake . . .
Rustic cottage with beautiful views and quiet location. Has updated living room furniture. Bedrooms in general could use an update but overall has what you need. No AC but fans throughout, still brought our own but has nice breeze from lake. Outstanding access to Torch lake, no stairs and somewhat of a slope to small beach and dock. Beautiful clear water, shallow, and sandy bottom with few rocks. Dock, mooring buoy, and boat hoist a definite plus for lake activities. On arrival, had issues with housekeeping chores not completed and previous renters did not take care of recyclables or put out trash and left items in frig which we had to deal with but housekeeping should have caught. Owner quickly responded to issues. Got chigger bites from the well known sandbar, as son didn’t go with us there and does not have one bite. Would consider renting again.
We had a wonderful week at this property. Clean (but could use some updated linen), beds were comfortable, and plenty of fans (no AC!). The beach was great, but watch out for swimmer's itch. Do your homework before you go so you don't itch all week. The living room cabinet was stocked with puzzles and games. We rented a kayak and paddle board from Alden Marine & Sport. They were great!
Absolutely loved this property. The check in/out was easy. There were plenty of toys around for kids, easy login for the tv, and awesome patio to relax on. The sandy beach was perfect for sitting and readying withy your feet in the sand. The lake was perfect on a hot day. Beautiful
We really enjoyed our time at the property. It had a rustic feel and smelled of pine trees. I was very impressed with how clean it was when we arrived (with exception of one of the bedroom fans). We enjoyed all the changing conditions of the water and watching the sunset every night. It was too cold to swim when we came but we still enjoyed hanging out by the shore looking for rocks. The house was in the perfect location to be a home base to venture out to other places we wanted to explore such as Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, Cheboygan, and Mackinac Island. We would definitely recommend this house.
We loved our stay! House is perfectly located and had everything we could need. House was clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed having a yard big enough to play catch and volleyball. The water was perfect: sandy bottom and shallow super far out. It was like being at the sandbar but without the crowds.

I grew up in Southfield, MI and now live with my husband and son in Washington state. We love the outdoors, camping and hiking, and our summer visits to Torch. There is nothing like Torch Lake anywhere that I've ever been in the world. My family has had a place on the lake since the 1960s, starting with my grandmother whose log cabin was just west of the cottage on Ladd Drive.
Why they chose this property
I spent every summer of my childhood on Torch and, though I have traveled to many places in my life, I have never found a place as beautiful as Torch Lake. The water is clear and the sand is sugary and firm. You can walk out for half a mile before it is over your head and it's great for kids because of the shallow water near the beach. The cottage is a perfect place for a couple or family with its comfortable rooms and amenities.
What makes this property unique
Crystal clear water and a sandy bottom are great for kids, for playing and swimming. Beautiful view all the way down the lake with glorious sunrise and sunsets. Awesome for swimming, boating, sunning, and lounging.
