An La Jolla village oceanfront landmark home downstair designed by a renowned architect, recently remodeled with upgraded windows and new flooring (May 2025). Ideally located next to the iconic La Jolla Cove, this rent only downstair part is just steps from restaurants, museums, beaches, galleries, and shops in La Jolla Village—arguably the best location in La Jolla.
This unique property is divided into two fully independent parts, each with its own entrance and privacy. The only shared spaces are the garage, laundry room (with one washer and two dryers), and central A/C control. Each part has one garage space suitable for a standard vehicle or SUV. Both can be booked together—perfect for family reunions or small weddings. The upstairs unit (Unit 2) can be found under VRBO ID: 2786466.
To reduce noise, soundproofing materials and new flooring have been added to the upstairs unit. Please note: parties are not allowed unless upper stair is vacant.
Since this is an older oceanfront house , it may have ocean smell. When you open the window, smell will gone. It is landmark house, but sound approve is not that great, you may hear the upper stair noise and laundry noise.
Due to the ocean braze, the patios may not be cleaned as you expected even we clean it.
Being right on the ocean, you’ll enjoy fresh sea air and the soothing sound of waves. This isn’t a luxury five-star hotel, but you can cook, grill, and dine with stunning ocean views—an experience hotels can’t match.
About Downstairs part: This lower-level of the house has exclusive use of the main entrance and includes: • A spacious living room with a futon bed • A kitchen and dining room • A large master bedroom (Bedroom 1) with a king bed, full en-suite bath, a connected den with a futon sofa bed, and access to a private ocean-view deck with BBQ • Bedroom 2 with a king bed and ocean-view balcony •. A small room (hallway with lockable doors on each side) with two twin beds, ideal for kids, facing the side yard

Perfect location for relaxing and people watching- close to everything- shops-restaurants etc - immaculately clean- softest sheets and i am a “linen snob” quiet as a tomb- fabulous tub in master- great kitchen for cooking- host could notBe more accommodating with check in and check out- and quick responses to questions
The location was unparalleled. The property was extremely nice. The beds and pillows were great. They had maintenance there almost daily to work on a very nice electric toilet. For the cost, I would have expected better pots and pans and utensils to cook with. People who stay for a few days want to cook onsite. The skillet was unacceptable.
The beach house was perfect for our trip to La Jolla! The house had every possible thing we needed: extra towels, appliances, serving trays, beach accessories, and space for all! The beds, bedding, and pillows were perfect and we were all very comfortable. The location was amazing.... just steps from the ocean, and a brisk walk to a delicious brunch at The Kitchen at the museum. The host was so gracious, accommodating, and very quick with responding. We will have to stay here again soon.
We loved our stay in this fabulous location right along the water. The comfortable three bedrooms (one small) worked well for our group of five. We enjoyed making coffee in the kitchen, sitting inside or at the round outdoor table, and looking out over the ocean. It was also a great place to walk to La Jolla Cove, shops and restaurants downtown or other locations along the water. Really a wonderful place
By far one of the nicest locations, situated along the the beach with stunning views of the ocean and easy access to tide pools and the beach. Walkable dining!

The house was beautiful and clean is very accommodating. There are gorgeous views of the ocean from the back patio and it's only a short walk to the beach. The location is great.
I want to start by saying that is one of the best beach houses I have ever stayed at. It has all the amenities needed to make you feel at home. The view of the ocean is breathtaking and the whole house is spotless. 10/10 would recommend!!

Location of this unit makes walking the village very easy. Simply said the beautiful views fr every room was wonderful. The garage space was a big plus.

One of it’s kind. Iconic Lampshade House - Panoramic Ocean/Coastal Views! - Constructed in 1923, this iconic landmark of La Jolla has attracted visitors from around the world. A permanent fixture on the La Jolla Historical Society's "Gems of the Jewel" acclaimed walking tour, the house has a long and prosperous history in the area.
Coined the "Lampshade House", due to the property's distinctive and one-of-a-kind design, the home is a trinity of cottages (Beach, English, and Craftsman) combined in an eclectic manner and constructed along the gorgeous Whale View Point with panoramic ocean and coastal views. Located steps north of the La Jolla Tide Pools and a short walk south from Seal Rock, this home has an exclusive location directly in the heart of the city.
The main level is highlighted by an elegant octagonal-shaped living room featuring a gorgeous chandelier and stunning views, a large formal dining area, the second master with an attached luxury bathroom and oceanfront patio, third bedrooms, two dens, a fully equipped kitchen with an attached garden patio, plus additional patios off the bedrooms for enjoying a surreal view, especially at sunset.
Next, the second level contains a spectacular master bedroom. The second octagonal-style room in the property, it features a stunning lofted ceiling design, accentuated with another beautiful chandelier, much like the living room.
