About this property
Lake front Cabin on beautiful private 60-acre property and 80-acre Lake.
The Cabin or berm house (partially underground - acts as A/C) is on our 60-acre magical park like setting property on Chain Lake, an 80-acre lake. You can paddle to the water fall on the other side of the lake or fish for rainbow trout, largemouth bass and perch, hike, walk, run, read or nap under a tree, listen to music, meditate, birdwatch…and if you like to road bike up hilly roads - I am happy to share my favorite routes. We also like to go to Newport or Deer Park to golf.
We are 30 minutes to Priest River (for dinner) 20 minutes to Newport (to shop for groceries, farmers market and one of my favorite clothes store-Shanty) and about 50 minutes to the South Hill in Spokane.
The cabin is a berm house that can comfortably host 4 adults. It stays cool during the summer and cozy warm in the winter. We enjoyed many weekends, summer vacations and holidays in the berm house when our kids were young. Eventually we built a place next door so now we can have company and can share our special place with others.
Our property is in Enchantment Valley where there are 6 other families who own separate properties.
The whole group will be comfortable in this spacious and unique space. 4 guests (5 if you use the living room), 2 bedrooms 2 beds (King and Queen), living room, den/office/sunroom, kitchen, laundry and full bath. Access to lake shore to launch your boat (motorless), or swim (water is deep) as well as hiking trails along the lake on the old railroad bed.
The Great Northern railroad line ran through our valley from 1891 for 100 years. In 1906 the train derailed at the exit of the tunnel into the lake and 12 people died. The train was pulled out of the lake and a new train tunnel was built. We take long hikes along the lake where the railroad line used to travel.

Love coming to this property. We enjoy the quiet, secluded house. The lake is the best! Swimming, fishing, kayaking all day. The water is refreshing and peaceful. We are making thus a rearly trip!
This property was exactly what we needed for a long girl’s weekend. So peaceful and relaxing with limited wifi (at the house only) and a feeling of being shut off from the world. We paddleboarded each day and saw beaver, bald eagles, deer including a baby, turtles, blue heron and even a skunk (from a good distance). This was just what we needed.

We will sort through the WiFi issue. You two were perfect guests.
The owner was so accommodating to the needs of this weekend retreat. The deer near the lake was a bonus. The home and beautiful surroundings were so calming and peaceful. We highly reccomend this getaway.
Hidden gem tucked away. Great for families or couples. Lake was amazing for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. House was older but well taken care of by owners. Wonderful sunlight and peaceful setting. Hosts were gracious and friendly.

I am working on the bathroom ceiling and laundry room wall.
My daughters engagement party is this week so we have a lot of company coming to the lake.
Take care!
Even though there are surrounding properties it’s very quiet. If you pack well you won’t have to go into town much it’s far from the busy town. Plenty of nature and adventure around. We went with our two little ones under 3 and dog.
Beautiful lake side property located in cozy community. Berm was clean, well stocked. The beds were clean and comfortable. We loved the peaceful lake as well as the wild animals that visited. The owners were very prompt with replies, and the family members living on the property were very kind and helpful.

Thank you Cindy, You and your family are perfect guests. I am so happy you enjoyed your time here and we could share it with you.
The cabin is located on beautiful Chain Lake which is great for kayaking and/or fishing without the noise of motorized watercraft. We watched fish jumping, eagles soaring, a variety of birds coming to the feeder and deer meandering through the grasses. Have an evening fire at the fire pit close to the water’s edge ~ wood is provided and you won’t be disappointed. Renee was very accommodating and I’m already looking forward to returning one day.

The berm house is cool, literally and figuratively. It is totally worth the short walk to see the railroad tunnels!!! We caught some baby perch fishing from shore. We didn’t take the canoe out but probably should have. The lake is beautiful. The hosts were excellent. Overall very happy with our stay

Not for us
The home is located in a very lovely setting. It is quiet and tree filled and during the short time we were there we saw a lot of wild life.
The house is well appointed and the king size bed was super comfortable. It is very dark inside and you may need to bring task lighting.
We stayed only one night of our stay because the house needed a deep cleaning.

Thank you for your feedback, Marilee.
It is important to hear feedback so we can improve. It was unfortunate that you and your partner decided to leave after one night without giving us an opportunity to remedy any cleanliness issues you had. The policy with VRBO is that if a guest is not happy with something in the place, they are staying they give the host an opportunity to fix it.
We have not received feedback about cleanliness over the two years we have rented the berm house. Everything is cleaned before each guest arrives. I will make sure to double and triple check the areas you identified.
Thank you,
Renee
It was the perfect spot for my dog and me! Why? Because after an all-day drive from the Coast we were greeted by our welcoming hosts, beautiful scenery, and rustic charm.
We spent our 3-night stay enjoying the beauty of the place: the quiet, the peacefulness, and the serenity.
Spending time at the lake and taking a short walk to the remains of the tunnel where we sat and enjoyed the view were our Nature moments which we enjoyed daily.
The berm house was a great experience, especially for its indoor coolness when the temperatures were so high outside.
It's a fun adventure. I suggest you take it!
This is a beautiful place to stay. The property is beautiful and has nature all over. The berm house stays cool all day and night. There is beautiful deer that come by each morning and evening in front of the house entry. We advised bringing mosquito and spider repellent. As well as some type of fly catch device. Please also bring house slippers because shoes are not allowed inside and the floor is hardwood or tile. Being so close to nature dust is a continual concern and you have to clean up after yourself. We have no issue with this because it’s nature. :-)We really appreciate the opportunity to stay here and the privacy the homeowners provided. Thank you

Thank you!

We were looking for a quiet place on water to just sit back and relax. This place was perfect!
As we got further and further from town the road got smaller and smaller until it was just a steep drive down towards the lake. We came around the final bend and weren't sure what to expect. The drive was definitely worth it.
This rustic cabin built into the berm had everything you could want, fully furnished, towels, bedding, microwave, stove... a fully functioning house. Since the temperatures were hovering around 90F there was some concerns about there not being AC. Totally unfounded! It was noticeably cooler inside even in the heat of the day. Berm really is cool!!
Although the helpful hosts, Renee and Jeff, made us aware of many things to do we just wanted to sit around and relax. We did take time out to watch the deer and geese play, use the handy BBQ to cook, and go sit by the lake and enjoy the stunning views. They have two small dogs that came to say hi a couple of times a day but were quiet and well behaved, not bothering us one bit. Jeff even walked me around the property showing me the fruit tress he's growing and let sample the fruit fresh off the trees.
We supplied our food and beverage, everything else was available for us.
A great, relaxing holiday is what we wanted and that's exactly what we got.
Again, many thanks Renee and Jeff.

Gina did not stay at our cabin. She rented it w/o telling us about her dog. There is a clear write up in our listing. Since she did not read the information or tell us about her dog they left. We did not review her because she didn’t stay.

Why they chose this property
Our property is magical. Our friends come here and find it amazing and wish that they had found a property like ours. We do not have motorized boats on our lake because it is only 80 acres. We love to paddle around and find new treasures along the shoreline. It is so peaceful here. We are an integral part of our property and enjoy the natural beauty and environment. We are environmentalists and love to share our place with other like minded people.
What makes this property unique
Quiet and beautiful a way to get away from busy lives.
