We had a great stay at this beautiful and cozy home. It had everything we needed, they really thought of everything. Very clean. The outdoors around it were majestic. Perfect place to relax!
We loved our stay at L-Wood Acres. The location was perfect with lots of wildlife and easy access to Elephant Rocks and Johnsons Shut ins. One of the features we enjoyed the most was the fire pit.
Great private cabin! Easy drive to Elephant Rock, Johnson Shut Ins, and Taum Sauk. We loved the fire pits. Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed.
Nice peaceful place to stay! Great location, close to Johnson Shut-Ins and Elephant Rock State Park. The house was supper clean and nicely laid out! Thanks to the host for sharing such a nice piece of property!
Super cute and clean. Perfect for our family of 4. It was in a great proximity to the Johnson Shut Ins and Elephant Rock. We also floated down the Black River. Great place to stay.
This place is comfortable and impeccably clean. It’s a nice rental. However, I contacted the host about a problem and never heard back from him. Nothing all weekend. Not even at check-out time. I have never had this happen so would not rent this place again.
Secluded home on a spacious property in the incredibly scenic Arcadia valley. It was very clean and well kept. It is conveniently located within a 30 minute drive to both Elephant Rocks and Johnsons-Shut-Ins State parks. The host's instructions were clear and easy to follow. Our family of five were comfortable and we all had an excellent time! I'd consider booking it again if we're ever back in that area.
What a nice house on a nice piece of property! House is clean and tidy, comfortable. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay -- we hope to return in warmer weather so we can enjoy more of the grounds.
Peaceful and beautiful, and so much wildlife! Deer visited every day and a raccoon peered into the living room window one evening. In less than an hour on the deck, we saw pileated woodpecker, eastern bluebird, red-bellied woodpecker, white-breasted nuthatch, dark-eyed junco, carolina wren, and blue jay, and heard barred owl, red-shouldered hawk, cardinal, carolina chickadee, downy woodpecker, white-throated sparrow, and tufted titmouse. The house is organized, clean, and decorated with taste. Its location is perfect for exploring nearby Elephant Rocks State Park and Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, both of which we loved.
This was the perfect location for us. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and the short drive to Elephant Rocks and Johnson’s Shut-ins. The property was very well-maintained inside and out. Thank you for a very comfortable stay.
What you see is not what you get. Guests considering this property should be aware many amenities shown may not be available to you. The wood-burning stove is not available to guests, the wood-burning fire pit was not available to us, the gas fire pit was not available to us, and the grill was not available to us. The unit is remodeled very well and was clean, but unfortunately the smell of rotten eggs filled the room when you washed your hands or took a shower. Guests should also be aware you will be dealing with multiple individuals on the hosting side. This causes a lot of confusion if there are issues, and some of the hosts don’t seem interested in providing a quality experience. This is a high price point for this area, and I’m not sure the experience is equivalent.

For accuracy, we would like to clarify several statements in this review.
The gas fire pit and outdoor seating were winterized at the time of this stay. Wood-burning stoves carry significant safety and liability considerations- for this reason the stove has never been listed as an amenity. We responded promptly to these questions during the stay and would have provided the propane and seating for the gas fire pit and the wood burning pit- no request was made. There are two outdoor folding chairs available for guest use anytime- listed in the house manual and stored in the hall closet.
The grill was also not listed as an included amenity due to winter weather. It is stored on-site and can be made available upon request, though no request was made to have it brought out.
The only functional issue reported was a coffee maker stopping mid-brew. An alternative machine was immediately suggested, and we offered to come by in person to assist.
The property was inspected shortly after checkout, and no water odor or system issue was found.
All communication through VRBO goes to the property manager, Jeff Ayers. Messaging may appear to go to Josh (one of the owners), but it will always be a guarantee that you will be communicating with Jeff. Further information for communication is clearly listed in the house manual if you are unsure of who you are communicating with or if the VRBO platform is not working.
The Property Manager, Jeff tried repetitively to get the clients input and and even offered to stop by the house to help correct any potential concerns the client had. These offers were never taken advantage of by the client.
We stand behind this cabin and the experience it provides. Our 50 prior 10-star reviews reflect what the overwhelming majority of guests consistently experience.
We encourage future guests to review listing details carefully and to communicate concerns during their stay so they can be addressed in real time, which we are always committed to doing.
Everything last detail is thoughtful and leaves you wanting for nothing during your stay. So peaceful and quiet and secluded while also being close to town and so many state parks. This was our second stay in the cabin this summer and we’ll definite be back soon!
