A large rear entry to the cottage with ample space for coats and boots, plus a laundry area with washer/dryer and sink is certainly a handy feature. The ground level also includes a guest/3rd bedroom perfect for family members who do not want to tackle stairs. A sunroom also features a pull out futon.
Relaxing in the living room you can enjoy natural sunlight all day long (southwest exposure) with panoramic views of the lake and pretty creek which runs parallel to the cottage. OUTDOORS:
The lot is level with a sandy beach for small children. Sun all day. Take the paddle boat for a ride around the quiet bay (must be accompanied by an adult with life jackets) - no heavy boat traffic here. A large dock is located beside the beach with room for lawn chairs - OR just simply catch that big fish off the dock. A hammock at the waters edge for that afternoon nap. The screened in porch is ideal for bug season and lower tiered deck offers ample space for entertaining or just enjoying the views - even when its raining or snowing you can stay dry and still experience the outdoors! The deck features a patio set for six four muskoka chairs and of course the porch would not be complete without the swinging bench.
The property has 268 feet of water frontage. 1.7 acres of mature forest, towering white pines and plenty of muskoka rock. A fire pit is located at the waters edge perfect for evening roasting of the marshmallows. Enjoy the amazing stars and on some occasions the northern lights. Outdoor lighting
A short walk to basketball courts and tennis courts is just down the road.
The lake offers plenty to do - from visiting the 2 local marinas for sundries, bait, movie rentals and of course ice cream for the kids, - you are located centrally on the lake to access both Marinas. A public boat launch is located across the lake. Six Mile Lake Marina rent boats.
Six Mile Lake is by far one of the prettiest lakes in Muskoka - dotted with islands and white pines as far as the eye can see. Plenty of rocks in the water so watch when you are maneuvering a boat - although they are marked with buoys. The Six Mile Provincial Park is also located at the south end of the lake. Pretty Channel offers a scenic waterfall which if you are adventurous you can ride down on your bottoms - a favorite amongst the locals. Enjoy outstanding boating upon pristine and very scenic waters.
The stream that runs along side the cottage enters from the marsh at the rear of the property - once a large blue heron nesting area. The bay often features lily pads. We maintain a natural shoreline so you often see Canada geese, loons, herons, small fish, crayfish, frogs and painted turtles.
WINTER RENTALS - SNOW SKIING:
35 minute drive to ski hills Moonstone and Horseshoe Valley!
The cottage was designed for year round use. A forced air heating system will handle the coldest winter night while the wood burning fireplace may be all you need on those cold evenings. Plenty of wood in the woodshed.

About the host
Hosted by James Lamont
We built this property in 2001 - a long time dream to own a beautiful rustic cottage in a private setting - we found the ideal lot southwest exposure on a year round round - perfect for our 4 children - especially the little one who was only 3 when we began building. I love to paint to unwind at the cottage so you will see my paintings around the cottage of cottage scenes, wildlife, sunsets and dawn of cottage country. Believe it everyone can paint - I only started painting when when we built the cottage - so hopefully you will get that paintbrush out too and try your hand at it!
We hope you enjoy our little piece of paradise and unwind too with your family!
