Are you ready for some fun in the sun? This mini-resort has everything for all ages; and it's <2 miles from the beach.

Here are some highlights:
OUTDOORS: heated pool + spa with poolside basketball hoop and water polo nets; beach volleyball court - that’s almost regulation size (42ft x 22ft) - and beach badminton court, proper outdoor ping pong table on a purpose-built patio, bocce ball court (with glow-in-the-dark balls), giant jenga, day bed and picnic table, 6+ poolside loungers with parasol plus shaded casual seating; shaded dining (comfortably seats 8) right next to the outdoor kitchen area that includes: top-of-the-line, 6 burner, Mont Alpi grille with searing station, infrared heating and plenty of counter space for grilling prep; ice maker, fridge and sink + blender for poolside drinks.
In the evenings, the outside fun can keep going with: glow-in-the-dark: badminton, volleyball and bocce ball (adult and kid size balls) plus the pool and spa have mood lighting too! Because the house is on a corner lot you'll not just have more outdoor space, you'll have an extra level of privacy with no neighbors on one side. And, the home that adjoins the back yard is set way back (>40ft) from our property line - you can barely see it - so, instead of feeling 'hemmed in', you'll be able to enjoy the sunset through the coconut palms that run along the fence line.
For INSIDE fun: there's a pro-size (8.5ft) Brunswick pool table, with a 2 inch slate bed, in a full-size pool room (without cueing restrictions) and 4 high-top bar stools for the spectators. [Most other pool tables you'll see are 5 or 6ft (maybe 7ft), and most of them have thin wooden beds which means you'll have a small and wonky playing surface.] In the separate, adjoining, games room you'll love the dual player, side-by-side, Pop-a-Shot basketball arcade game and glow-in-the dark foosball. The open plan layout from living room, to pool room to games room enjoins everyone in the fun and laughter - and of course there are 65 inch OLED TVs in all 3 rooms - so you can watch what you want on DirecTV (a different channel in every room if you choose) or stream to the screens via our mesh wifi network!
With over 4,000 sq ft, you'll feel like everyone has their own space.
There are 5 over-sized bedrooms and 3.5 baths. This includes 3 master suites with king-beds and ensuites - the upstairs master even has a jacuzzi tub! 1 of the master suites shares a jack-and-jill bathroom with the 4th bedroom that has 2 x double beds. The 5th bedroom has twin bunk beds and a twinXL bed. (Upstairs has a master suite plus the 5th bedroom. The other 3 bedrooms are downstairs.) All the beds have new, memory foam mattresses and most of them include cooling gel for an even better night's sleep. All pillows and comforters are foam (no feathers).
We have a pack-and-play as well as a standard crib as well as a baby bed (with a 50lb weight limit and linens provided). So we can sleep a total of 12: 11 adults/children in beds + at least 1 infant <50lbs in the pack and play, crib or baby bed. We also have a high chair.
The kitchen, yes you guessed it, is enormous - with granite counter tops, induction stove and all the utensils you could possibly need. It also has 2 coffee makers - regular and a Keurig. The open plan layout is in full effect here too - there's a breakfast bar that seats 4 comfortably and it opens onto the dining area with a table that seats 6 and, with a simple swivel of the tempered glass top, expands to seat 8 in style.
The neighborhood is one of the safest, prettiest and quietest! Because it runs alongside the Atlantic there's no through traffic - only locals. It's just over 2 square miles but the city of Lighthouse Point has its own police department. The officers scan the license plates of everyone entering the community and there are multiple police cars patrolling 24/7. The 25mph speed limit is strictly enforced. There are canals throughout the neighborhood and a majority of homes are in the multimillion dollar range. The streets are tree-lined and shaded by their overhangs. The community parks are first rate. Within a mile there are tennis and racket ball courts a full-length bocce ball court and specialized playgrounds for tiny tots and toddlers. Also <1 mile from the house, you'll find a marina with a waterside restaurant - a great place for a sunset cocktail; some nights they have live music and you might catch the sounds of some steel drums for that ultimate Caribbean calypso vibe! Finally, there's also a small beach on the intracoastal waterway that's a 5 minute walk.
The Atlantic beaches are <2 miles away (8 minute drive) and a 10 minute stroll along the beach will bring you to the Hillsboro inlet and lighthouse. In the opposite direction (south along the beach) you'll find resorts where you can hire jet skis and the like. A mile or so down the beach you'll come to Pompano Beach pier where you'll have multiple options for beach front dining/drinks. You also have the same a couple of miles north of the house at Deerfield Beach pier.
The house is just 10 miles north of Fort Lauderdale where you'll find super high-end dining and nightlife along Las Olas Boulevard.
We appreciate guests who are conscious of their carbon footprint. As such we have minimum A/C temperature settings to help reduce energy consumption. These are low enough to provide a very pleasant environment for everyone except those who like to crank the AC as low as it will go and leave it there for the duration of their stay. If that's what you like to do, please don't book with us. We have dual AC units - one for each floor - so that you can customize your setting.
The residents of Lighthouse Point are almost exclusively year-round homeowners and the average home value exceeds $1 million. Consequently, you will be able to enjoy the kind of peaceful, relaxing vacation that you'll struggle to find elsewhere in densely populated and highly trafficked south Florida! This is a very different community than the surrounding cities - like Pompano/Deerfield Beach.
In order to safeguard this tranquil ambiance, the city has a noise ordinance. So if you like to make the kind of noise that will disturb neighbors, including but not limited to playing music loudly, then this is absolutely NOT the property/neighborhood for you. You should choose a home in Pompano/Deerfield Beach instead.
Here is the noise ordinance that, by renting Placid Paradise, you agree to comply with:
"Any sound shall not be plainly audible for a period of one (I) minute or longer at a distance of twenty-five (25) feet or more when measured from the source property line between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. daily and at a distance of fifty (50) feet or more when measured from the source property line between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily."
So, after 10pm you can continue to enjoy the outside areas of the house, you can also play music (quietly). You just can not have music that's loud enough that it will disturb the neighbors.
If you fail to comply with it after one warning, then your party's legal designation changes from guests to trespassers and I will instruct the LHP police department to remove you from the property immediately. Failure to comply leaves you liable to arrest, and subsequent prosecution, for trespassing.
This city imposes additional rules that you have to comply with:
- Maximum 4 cars on the driveway
- No street parking
- Maximum of 12 persons staying at the house
- Maximum of 16 people at the house at any time (subject to host approval) - this includes those staying as well as any visitors/guests
- Trash bins must be wheeled back *behind* the fence by end of day Mon & Thur
Our base price is set for 8 guests. We charge an additional $49 per night per guest up to 12. Your guest count includes all persons in your group, regardless of age. In other words there are no age-based exemptions. So when booking please include infants as children.
We have security cameras around the outside of the house. There are no cameras inside the house.
Once your booking request is accepted you will receive a PDF from VRBO that includes the full house rules and a liability waiver. If there's anything that you do not agree to, or do not want to comply with, you have 24hrs to withdraw your booking at no cost to you. After 24hrs you will be considered to have signed the waiver and agreed to the rules.
We will consider 1 pet.
If you can not guarantee your pet won't mark inside the house, then do not ask to bring it.
Furthermore, for your family’s health (and that of subsequent guests), our sand volleyball/badminton court and our bocce ball court can not be used as pet latrines.
These courts are not gated, so a pet, let loose on the property, can not be stopped from relieving itself in the giant sand pit or on the bocce ball court.
So if that also does not work for you (i.e. you will not restrict the pet whilst outside the house, yet on the property), then do not ask to bring it.
If your pet is accepted, we charge $50 per night.

I have two FL properties listed on VRBO - one on the west coast (CocoHut) and one on the East coast (Placid Paradise). I have lived in both homes with my family, so you'll find them to be generously appointed and comfortable. These are not houses that investors have crammed full with beds to maximize their rental income. These are homes that we've completely renovated and updated and taken great care in doing so. The majority of listings these days are not owner-operated; in other words, owners contract with agencies to manage their properties. My parents taught me that if you want something done properly, do it yourself. So I personally, proactively manage ours - to ensure that your stay will go smoothly. In the rare event that something arises, I’ll be the one to address it - as swiftly as I can. You won't be dealing with a management agency that may/may not address your concerns in a timely fashion. That's why, when we choose properties for our travels, we look for owner-operated homes. You can find us on IG at cocosbeachhousefl_ & placid_paradise if you're interested in avoiding fees. We want our guests to feel like they have plenty of space - so although the homes could easily accommodate more guests, we have capped the maximum number of guests we allow per stay. We try to keep everything in working order - which is a continual effort. We provide a comprehensive planning package (including a guide to each house) to every guest prior to their arrival. Those packages allow our guests to 'hit-the-ground-running' on arrival - understanding how everything works so they can, instead, maximize their time with their loved ones. They also answer 99.99% of all questions that could possibly arise during a stay - so we respectfully ask our guests to read them.
Why they chose this property
Exclusive, placid residential community with its own police department. Multiple squad cars/officers patrol the 'city's' 5 square miles. On the coast so there's no through traffic - minimal road noise - and the 25mph speed limit is strictly enforced by the PD. Only 2 miles by car to the Atlantic beaches via the Causeway bridge. Less than a half mile walk to the marina where you can sit at the water and enjoy live music and food at the Nauti Dog cafe.
What makes this property unique
Why not choose a property where you can do so much more than just sleep and hang out? At ours you can have fun and games, and so can the kids - they'll be off their screens and out from under your feet - so you can can relax or choose to join in when you want!
