We could not have asked for more. To wake up each morning and lie in bed looking out over one of the most beautiful beaches you'll ever see was such a privilege. That, and feeling a warm sun in February, made this the perfect winter break.
We didn't meet the owners as they were in Germany, but communication was friendly and efficient. Their friend Marco met us on site to check us in and out. He was lovely and gave us all of the information we needed.
The apartment was comfortable, clean and equipped with everything you might need. The downstairs area had more than enough room for our family of 3 and the bedrooms were roomy enough.
El Cotillo is a really laid back town. We loved it. Not too developed, so it feels like a Spanish town more than a tourist resort. It has many lovely restaurants and bars - we didn't have a bad meal the whole week we were there. The beach to the south of El Cotillo is a long, gorgeous stretch of sand and much loved by the surfer dudes whose rusty camper vans populate the town. To the south the beaches are calmer and beautiful and, if you like bird spotting, there are even mud flats a little further up the coast (still walking distance).
The north of the island has much to see (Calderon Hondo, Corralejo Dunes and Betancuria are all worth a visit), but really it's the beaches here that take the top prize!
It was a great week. Thank you.
