This was our second time staying in this unit. We got the best surprise, upon arrival we found a refrigerator magnet that my grandson had left behind last year. Will definitely stay again

Overall, the property stay was great! Close to everything. Two things they need to change the late in 4 pm and the early check out 9 am also having to have to pick up envelope from another location and drop back off.

Great place to stay!
Location is perfect for everything Destin has to offer. The condo is great, with a view you can not get enough of! The semi private elevator is a big plus. Washing machine needs replacing or repair, and as in most places the kitchen cookware was cheap quality. The internet connection worked perfectly! The lay-out of the condo is very good and it is spacious and with nice decor. I will book this place again!

July visit.
Property was nice. Very few towels and toiletries for party of 6. Had to buy supplies and wash towels by 2nd day.
Used to sign in at location. Each year Silver Shells seems to use different partner and distance to hotel is farther away. Very time consuming at 4pm sign in time.
Condo was very clean. View was beautiful. Furniture somewhat outdated. Cabana AC was out. Reported this Monday, left Friday and it was still broken. Maintenance man took one of our keys that Monday night to be able to repair AC and upon leaving still didnt have this key back. Pools were beautiful! Was expecting more from cost on unit but was still a nice vacation.

It was ok.
The condo was nice. Had to clean up a few things but nothing major. Had problems with manager though. Just needed one extra wrist band so everyone could sit at pool without getting kicked out. Took manager two days to get it to us, even though we were told we’d get it first thing in the morning after our arrival. Not a bad place employees are nice and it’s a great view.

Great view. Condo was not clean! Filthy! Disappointed!
We love Silver Shells, Have been staying there for 30 years. The resort is great! The view was great! The condo was a disappointment. Floors were filthy. Sad when you have to rewatch your feet before bed! The kitchen smelled horrible when we arrived. Finally realized there was bad old food in garbage disposal. We put a dishwasher tab in it and turned it on. It finally cleared up. It needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. Doors, walls and floors filthy. We brought friends from NC to stay that had never been there before. What a disappointment! Worse condo we’ve ever had at SS.

When we arrived the dish in one room did not work, this was reported as soon as we arrived. Nothing was done to correct the issue all week. Floors were dirty to the point our feet were black on the bottom. Water was turned off without any notice when we were taking showers, jacuzzi tub would not work in Master-bath. We are a family who loves to cook, kitchen was not stocked well to do so. Also wanted to grill and the grills at St Marrten are broken. All and all worst condon we have ever stayed at being in Silver Shells.

Not worth the price!
Upon arrival, we noticed that it was 76 degrees in our condo. I contacted Southern Vacation Rentals and they were quick to reply. They sent 4 box fans and stated they would contact a repair service. This took a day or two for the repair company to come. It was found that a part was broken. They offered to send us to a different unit. However, the unit was not at Silver Shells. It was a mile down the road and we would Not have access to Silver Shells. We traveled from Ohio with 6 other families who were all staying at SS. Leaving the resort was NOT an option for us. The unit did not get repaired until the last day of our stay. This caused the unit to smell terribly because of the lack of air flow. We were compensated a small portion of the amount but we truly felt that we deserved to be compensated more for the inconvenience we experienced. Also, the room was not clean. We found fake eyelashes on the bedroom floor, blue soap in the shower (which led us to believe that they were not cleaned, and our feet were dirty almost immediately. I hate to complain but please read all of the reviews before you book this condo! Compared to the other condos at SS, ours was very outdated and we paid more than they did. I will say the view was amazing and Southern Vacation was quick to respond.

Good stay, manager was responsive to several issues, cabana less than fabulous
We rented this property for a week for 1/2 of our large family to stay in for a 50th anniversary celebration. Our party in this condo consisted of a family of 5 + 2 grandparents.
Check in was super easy and just as described, no issues at all. Checkout was equally easy & cleanup requirements less strenuous than other properties we have stayed at which was nice.
Instructions on how to use the elevator would be nice. But once we figured it out, no issues, except the kids fighting over who got to swipe the card. When we first arrived there were piles of sand in the foyer as soon as we got off the elevator. But we contacted the management company and they sent two lovely ladies to clean it as soon as possible. Our second issue was a very loud, very wobbly ceiling fan in the second bedroom (queen) but again management was very responsive and sent a handyman to replace it the next day.
The condo was furnished as described and the kitchen was fairly well supplied. The views were beautiful and the property was well maintained.
Since we had a large group staying on the property we had high hopes for the cabana as a meeting/lunch area for our family. There had been a leak in the sprinkler system in the cabana. So the bathroom door and the drywall had visible mold & the cabana had a very musty odor. The handyman who replaced the ceiling fan up in the unit said that was a HOA issue and was being addressed, so hopefully this will be resolved soon.
About halfway through the trip the toilet in the master bath began running sporadically. We did not report to management since we had reported multiple issues already and our stay was almost over.
Over all it was a good stay, we enjoyed the property, but we prefer a little more out of the hustle and bustle of Destin proper.

The renting process was fine. But the condo was not properly cleaned before our stay. The air conditioning did not work for the first day and night of our stay. It was very uncomfortable trying to do anything or sleeping for the first night. The floors were so dirty that you can to wear socks to keep your feet from being black. I would highly recommend that Southern Vacation Rentals investigate their cleaning service and make changes. It was a big disappointment!

Great resort, average condo unit
We've been staying at Silver Shells Resort for 15 years, this condo was one of our least favorites and not up to the normal standards we're used to at this resort. The A/C was out most of our stay and floors had not been cleaned well so everyone's feet were dirty after just one day. The furniture and décor were outdated and overall quality of the condo amenities was average, most of the closets did not have hangers so we had to buy some. The furniture was overly broken down along with the beds so we were a bit disappointed, I'd say this has turned into more of a rental than an owner using it for personal use. It did appear the appliances were newer. The view was great being higher up and the one perk with this condo was having a cabana, was nice to have that for getting out of the sun for a bit or using the restroom. In comparison to other condo's we've stayed in at Silver Shells...I'd give this one a 2.5.

Many broken or failing appliances. Old itchy “bedspreads”, only 2 key fobs for a 3 BR is not enough.
Very disappointed in This rental. Very 1st day Kitchen sink stopped up on disposal side. Took 2 days for repairman to come. Vent hood on stove does not work—-which was a big stink when cooking for 8. Washing machine sounds like a jet taking off and smells like a sewer. Repairman looked at it and said he was reporting it needed to be replaced by owner. Queen bedroom mattress was a complete brick!!! And the bathtub for that bedroom held at least 2 inches of water when showering. Master Bath toilet stopped up many times during the week. My husband had to buy a plunger!!! The curtains in the Master had one section down and we found it in the closet. Had to try to hang it with 3 clips we found. The back door to the unit was open when we arrived and would not close. Repairman had to hammer the plate to get the door to shut so we could lock it.
2 Key fobs for this unit is not enough especially because you need a key fob to get to the beach and to get through the gate returning from beach. This was a big aggravation with 8 people!
Noticed that a fire extinguisher has been used in the fuse box!!! Lots of debris from the extinguisher was still there—-making us question the integrity of the fuse box.
Furniture is old, master bedroom headboard is loose and noisy when you turn over. Screen was broken on twin bedroom door.
Beach view was beautiful but this Condo was a true disappointment I’m sorry to say.

Great view, beds very comfortable, beach and pool wonderfully close.
We enjoyed our stay at the condo. However I called Southern rental about a curtain that was broke and a screen that needed fixed on the day we arrived and it was not fixed when we left. Furniture starting to show wear. Overall it was a very quiet and pleasant place to stay. I recommend it.

Outstanding place to stay
Our stay was great, the overall property was really nice. We loved the proximity to the beach, pool and tiki bar. Our top floor unit was very spacious. The negatives are that most of the furniture is in well need of replacing especially for the price you pay to rent this until during peak season. The patio furniture was falling apart to the point you couldn’t sit in a couple of the chairs. A few minor maintenance repairs to the toilet and cabinets and the needed furniture upgrade would have warranted a 5 star review in my opinion. We definitely would rent in this building again.

disappointed
This is the first time I have ever reviewed anything good or bad but I was so disappointed in this rental that I felt I needed too. I was very disappointed in our stay at this condo. On the day we checked in they provided us with only one key to the room. We had a party of 8 and this made is very inconvenient and also stressful because at this property you need key for everything, for the room, elevator, parking garage, access to and from the beach, etc. Although I appreciate the security, if you don't have enough keys your are trapped until someone with a key can come and get you. After calling the rental company they did provide us one more key but that still was not enough. We asked other guests staying at Silver Shells how many keys they received and were told they received 5 keys.
When we got to the condo on the first day my daughter sat in a bar stool and it completely crumbled under her. I can not believe that someone knowing the bar stool was broke would put it back to be used knowing someone would sit in it. The washing machine was so loud that it sounded like a train was coming through the condo. The pull out mattress was a joke. No one could sleep on it because so bad. Basically you were sleeping on springs. But with all the complaints about the condo by far the worst thing was being only provided 2 keys. It was not relaxing vacation at all. Also it would have been helpful if the people working at the rental office had some knowledge of the properties they rent. They couldn't answer
questions that we had regarding our condo or parking etc, because they had never seen the property and were not familiar with it.
