Excellent log cabin in woods. 10 min from Booth Bay

Jamie was an excellent host and had a fully equipped and comfortable log cabin. The beds were comfortable memory foam and he even helped our dog when he was injured. All 5 of us fully enjoyed it. We ate breakfast outside in the deck each day overlooking the beautiful valley. Would stay here again.

Great stay!

The cabin was just what we needed. Secluded, but close enough drive to anything we wanted. Came with all the amenities needed for our weeklong stay. Grill, outdoor fire pit, AC, hiking trails, dog friendly, the list goes on!

Log cabin in the woods

We enjoyed the peaceful setting, the gas grill on the deck, the full-service kitchen, the presence of commercial grade washer and dryer and the whimsical Knick Knacks decorating the place.

Perfect vacation spot

I visited this property for a week with my 12 year old son and our black lab. We absolutely loved it. It is secluded with beautiful woods and trails in the back which we loved hiking through. It was quiet and relaxing but still an easy drive to many of the places we wanted to visit. We were fishing, went to the botanical gardens, walked around town in a few different places and all of these this were an easy drive. It was so nice to come home to a woodsy and relaxing place at the end of the day. Jamie was helpful, communicative, and friendly and always nearby but not intrusive. I highly recommend Jamie and this location. I will be booking it consistently in the future for my son and I.

Peaceful setting , close to boothbay.

My husband and I stayed at this cabin for 4 nights. Our two daughters and son in law stayed with us for one night. The cabin was situated in a quiet wooden area. The cooking options were limited to a microwave and an outdoor gas grill, which we didn't end up using. Our last night there our son in law built a cozy outdoor fire. The property was very close to Boothbay and we would stay there again.

Excellent base to explore the entire region

First off, I want to recommend Boothbay and this rental in particular for anyone wanting to explore the Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bath, etc. region. This is a perfect base; I wish we'd stayed longer than 3 nights before moving north. The house has so much charm. It is in a great location in a lovely town, close to everything, yet in a super-quiet, beautiful, and secluded residential area. We have stayed in vacation rental homes across the U. S. and Europe. The house was quite clean, was well-furnished, and the beds were awesome. There are beds for 6 and seating in the living area for 4. The owner, Jamie, was very easy to work with. My AT&T phone didn't work there, but my Verizon phone did. (That's pretty typical when traveling to small towns; I had the same problem an hour north.) The internet was sketchy, but so what, we were on vacation. (It works fine if you step out on the porch.) I highly recommend this rental. I hope we make it back to this gem in the future.

small family vacation

Our family gathered here the last week of August, and we're surprised at how wonderful it was being away from the crowds of Booth bay Harbor, but we're so very close to town, and Newcastle, and all of the wonderful attractions in the area. Azure Teal was so comfortable, and very clean. We were especially impressed with how well equipped it was. The owner is very accommodating....We highly recommend this home.

Gem in the Woods

Quaint log cabin, perfect location for exploring Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Bath areas (check out the great yarn shop in Bath- Halcyon yarn). Very comfortable for our family of four plus a small dog. Owner is a local, very helpful, and gave us great tips on exploring. Property in great condition, well maintained. Owners description is accurate. We spent a lot of time on the large deck and enjoyed dining outside. We were pleasantly surprised that bugs were not a problem at all during our visit. Barely used the bug spray. Kids enjoyed catching frogs in the tiny brook. Great hiking trails everywhere. Enjoyed a fishing trip/lobster catch with Sweet Action Charters in Boothbay (owner is Dan and tailored our trip to our kids- very reasonable prices). We enjoyed nearby high school tennis courts and 2 indoor courts at really nice Boothbay YMCA- great indoor pools there too. Fun finding lots of sea glass on the rocky shores. Try the Vietnamese restaurants spring rolls when you get tired of lobster!!

Artsy getaway very private

Azure Teal was a charming place for staying near Boothbay Harbor. We live in the mountains and there was lots of woods around us, so we felt right at home. There was even a nice trail that our host created in the woods behind the house. This was a pet friendly rental that was great for our dog Tanner, he loved exploring and we loved having him with us on vacation. Our host had some great art work and touches that really connected to the earth, and we would definitely vacation there again if we come back to the area. The only complaint is that the house wasn't spotless, I believe we left it cleaner than when we arrived, but all in all, a great place to stay!

Beyond Expectations

My family stayed At Azure Teal Lodge and were all pleasantly surprised at the immediate feeling of home away from home. We were able to explore the area, both in town and tucked away in the woods. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and some shopping during the day, then relaxed in comfort in the evening. My kids kept themselves entertained by examining the many photos and rocks on display throughout the lodge and openly expressed their disappointment when we packed up for home. My wife enjoyed the grill while I napped in the hammock alongside a trickling brook. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Great secluded cabin and close to the fun

We had a great stay in the lodge with our one year old daughter. The home is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and the large deck in great shape. The owner was nearby and able to answer questions and was very friendly and warm. He takes great care of the home as well as the surrounding area. This lodge is great because it's totally secluded (our daughter slept better here than in Brooklyn!) yet it's only about a 10 minute ride from all that Boothbay has to offer. The only upgrade we could think of would be a bigger comfy couch that we could all curl up on together to watch a movie.

Property complaint

I had rented this property for my family of 5-7 people. The website said sleeps 6-8 comfortably. When we arrived we saw there was no mattress in the third bedroom. He knew I had 7 people as I offered to pay the x- tra 10.00 per night. When I called I was informed the mattress was on back order? At this point I asked what I was supposed to do. He offered a blow up mattress. We went for supplies and came back ands saw he left a blow up pool float for one. Seriously? At this point we scrambled and got the couch cushion and some outdoor chair pads and made do for two nights. We left a day early. The comforters were worn and musty smelling. I had to wash the bedding before my girls would use them. There were no dish towels, not enough sheets, not enough bedding. He should advertise sleeps 2-5 and I would not have brought my family. It was miserable.

You will enjoy this rustic, natural location within minutes to everything that is quintessential coastal Maine.

About the host

Host profile image
The owner of Mossy Glen Lodge has been a Teacher, a Boat Captain, Coast Guard Veteran and a home builder. Now retired... This home was hand built by myself and now ready to share with you.

Why they chose this property

This is one of the magical coastal jewels of the Northeastern corner of North America. I also grew up here from age 6-18. Activities abound in the day and night in the harbor 3 miles away while the quiet of the woods await you on your return in the evening - I love it for its peace and quiet of seclusion in the woods with a campfire and to be close to the ocean shores which leave me cooled by sea breezes. -- It is within an hour from here to Camden or Portland along the coast and only about 10-15 minutes to the coast locally. The mountains of Maine are within a 2 hour drive. It's pretty special and I'M grateful I chose here to retire.

What makes this property unique

1. Living in a unique home graced with beautiful photos of an Award winning Photographer
2. Returning from a day at the ocean or town to the forested seclusion of a Log cabin to a fire inside or outside for cool coastal evenings.
3. To just relax on the deck under the trees with sunshine or stars.
4. Spending time in one of Maine's delights along the coast with new adventures to await each new day with many smiles.
