The room was very clean, AC worked very well, the shower was good too! The host was super kind and friendly. The beds were fairly comfortable but we tend to be kind of picky about that. One was very soft and the pull out was more firm so it worked out well! As advertised, the place is ancient and that’s part of the experience. We were grateful to have a place to stay out in the middle of nowhere! One thing to note that may be important for non-smokers is there was a heavy odor of cigarette smoke throughout the building. The room is non-smoking so it wasn’t as strong in there but it was still present. Theres probably not much to be done about it (it used to be a brothel after all), but there are folks out there with severe sensitivities, so thought I should mention.

Thank you for rhe review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay overall. As for the smoke smell, we share a common wall with the bar/restaurant next door, which does allow smoking, both inside and outside in the front and back of their building. Therefore the smoke enters our building. We have tried to mitigate the smoke odor by a barrier in the front and a barrier on the door between the buildings, asking guests not to open windows to prevent smoke from entering rooms, and using smoke ender spray and solid air fresheners in the rooms. However, the smoke still gets in under the front door if the bar/restaurant is open. We wish you safe and pleasant travels.

We love history, and loved traveling to historical places. After retiring, and not traveling as much, we decided to have the travellers come to us. So when we had the opportunity to purchase a building from 1864, we did it. The building had no plumbing, and no windows, so we had a project on our hands. After 3 years, we had rooms with modern conveniences to rent. We really enjoy hearing where guests are coming from and going to, and sharing experiences.
