The rooms was clean and quaint. Extra bedding for the third person in the armoire. Bathroom set up was nicely done, plenty of room. Nice to have a coffee maker and refrigerater in the room, but the shared kitchen was a great addition. The futon for the third person could have been a bit more comfortable, but overall it all worked out fine.
My stay was brief but was pleased to arrive to beautiful building and a room that was huge, well decorated/furnished, well heated, and super cozy. I would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Chester House and would definitely come back! It was quaint, comfy, and clean, and the check-in and check-out process was simple.
Our stay was outstanding. The room was spacious, comfy and clean. The Inn was very quiet during our stay. We made friends with the local chipmunk who is extremely tame. We love having a place so cozy to stay when we are in the area.
Nice place for a short stay.
Need a better mattress for the 4 post bed.

Old Inn room
The room was fine. Bright night lights outside require eye masks for dark sleeping. The shower unit was a bit odd… not a conventional shower stall. The bottom fitted sheet did not stay on the mattress.
At first it was difficult to get in touch with the owners, as the number listed on some sights is the older number. Once I did they were wonderful. They took their time to think of everything to make your stay comfortable. So many little details! The town is so lovely - old victorian style and the house is walkable to a few restaurants. Great to have a mini kitchen available to use, with a big fridge to store items, while also a mini fridge in the room. Look forward to staying here again next year!
I loved the room we stayed in. It was such a comfortable bed as well as the pillows. The bathroom was large and just about everything in our room was like a storybook. Loved skimming through some of the old books...so informative. The only thing I wished we knew is it was difficult to find a place to eat as we were there Monday thru Wednesday morning and no eateries on Main Street was opened. We drove a half our to eat breakfast. Perhaps it was the wrong season to go but the foliage was beyond spectacular which is why we visited when we did. But nothing opened Monday and Tuesday in that area at all to eat any meals.
We spent a couple nights here and had a lovely stay! It was a last minute trip so we were grateful to find a place and thrilled when the owner offered us a larger room than we booked. It was very comfortable for the three of us and the room even had a mini fridge. There seemed to be complimentary coffee, tea & hot chocolate downstairs as well as a coffee pot w/ supplies in the room. No food was offered as far as we could see but we had great breakfast sandwiches at a cafe across the street. The town is cute and we really enjoyed the Sunday pop-up market. It was a wonderful break from the other traditional hotel places we stayed and we would happily visit again!
Lovely, spacious room. Chester is pretty and has nearby restaurants and shops.
This is a totally self-catering property requiring a key code to enter, which we were not provided. There was no phone/txt/email to reach the owner. After a half hour knocking and waiting at the door, we ran into a person renting an apartment on the property who told us the owners were not in town and should have sent us the code with the reservation confirmation. Our VRBO confirmation did not include a key code or any check-in instructions. We had no communication whatever from the owner. Fortunately, the neighbor happened to know the key code and got us in the front door. The room key was in the room. From there, we were fine and enjoyed our stay. But it would have been a different story if we had not had a chance encounter with a neighbor who had no responsibility for taking care of inn guests. The next day, we had to assist another party the same way. We just happened to be there for a brief stop while sightseeing around the area, otherwise they might have been stuck as well. Very sloppy management! Some on-scene assistance or at least an emergency contact number should be available.
