Home was very cozy and we had all the amenities we needed. Location is fantastic and communication with host was great! Thanks again for a lovely stay!
The property was just as advertised and pictured -- very cute and very clean. The location was great. Our family had a wonderful stay and would book this again!
We loved our stay at The Happy Place. It had everything we needed to enjoy our time in Sellwood. The kitchen was so well-appointed, the bathrooms were lovely, the beds were comfortable. Our hosts were super responsive and helpful too. Overall excellent stay!
It was one of the easiest check-ins I've ever experienced while staying in a VRBO. Communication with our hosts was excellent, and the property is beautiful and spotless. Sellwood is a vibrant neighborhood, and it is very convenient to have shops and restaurants within walking distance. I would stay in this property again without hesitation. Thankyou Marianne
This place was perfect for us. This neighborhood is walking distance to food, nature and interesting shops to browse in. We had coffee at a different place every day. Nature is not far away and we enjoyed a daily walk by the river, in Sellwood Park or even around the block. Driving anywhere in the city was quick and easy too. The host was super friendly and the place was clean and cozy. Would 10/10 recommend a stay here.
This 2 bdrm / 2 bath basement unit was a joy to stay in. The rooms were very comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Check-in/out was very easy and Kim was excellent in communication. Midway in our stay, Kim inquired about how our stay. I mentioned squeaky doors and voila, there was a can of WD40 at the front door the next day! How caring and attentive is that! There is a binder that provides all the information you need for your stay including names of your unit cleaner and her cats. There was also a welcoming basket for us to enjoy which I thought was a great touch! Although located on a well trafficked street, the unit was remarkably quiet. I highly recommend this unit and hope to stay there again!
Here are some things we liked:1) The owner Kim was really sweet and helpful.2) The location was great, walking distance to 13th Ave. with all the cafes and restaurants. Easy access to the river and driving to downtown. 3) The place felt happy, fun, was super creative, definitely not cookie cutter. It was never boring looking at how they decorated. And the unit was pretty large.4) Good hot water and showers. 5) Kitchen well equipped.Things we didn't like so much:1) The owners lived above in this beautiful old house, and we could hear them walking around a lot, probably on wood floors. And in the evening too up to about 10 pm, which was annoying and got old. It was already hard enough living in a basement unit. Maybe they could wear soft slippers and walk more carefully?2) More importantly, there are outside areas on all four sides of the house, and on two of them they have set up work spaces for photography and other things. They were outside often, building "catios" (cat patios, very Portlandia, don't ask!), and they were right outside the windows of the main bedroom, often in the afternoons and early evenings, right when we wanted to be home and relaxing (we are in our 60s and 70s). So... it seems to us that if they are renting their lovely but pricey unit for a few days they might hold off with their outdoor usages and construction projects, or at least consult with the tenants before banging away. Thanx!
The Happy Place was absolutely lovely. The space was roomy and comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. It was in a nice neighborhood with a great downtown area.
