About this property

Historic Cottage with Private Pool, Firepit, Walk to Village

Enjoy the best of Pinehurst in a beautifully restored 1915 Cottage. Set in the heart of the village, located in the National Parks Historic Landmark District, steps from the Spa and restaurants and an easy stroll to everything historic Pinehurst has to offer including the Resort and Pinehurst No 2 Golf Course yet completely tucked away on a quiet charming street.

Idlewilde Cottage was built in 1915 by Pinehurst founder James Walker Tufts' Carpenter, Rassie Wicker. The cottage has undergone a complete renovation while maintaining all the original charm. You can enjoy having a cocktail on the porch with the recently installed gas lamps and outdoor fan while gazing onto the street where Annie Oakley used to live or go for a dip in the salt pool. Enjoy your favorite sporting events at the new pool house bar with indoor and outdoor TVs complete with a kitchenette, bbq and outdoor shower.

Enjoy an evening roasting marshmallows around the outdoor built-in stone fireplace or a gourmet meal in the fully stocked kitchen. There is ample parking in the driveway and additional parking behind the carriage house.

We offer laundry detergent, a fully stocked kitchen including spices and pantry items, hand soap, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and toilet paper and paper towels. The new salt pool is not heated. PLEASE NOTE the pool is not open in December, January and February and the first half of March and is priced accordingly during this period.

In the kitchen and dining room of idlewilde Cottage you will have the flexibility to host sit-down meals in the well-appointed kitchen / dining room in the main house kitchen or poolside in the large beautifully landscaped backyard. The pool house is complete with indoor and outdoor smart televisions, a bar top, 1/2 bath and changing room and outdoor shower. Inside you will find a refrigerator, microwave, sink, dishwasher and a stackable washer/dryer. The pool house french doors open up to a large deck, bbq and large table that is capable of accommodating your entire group for dining poolside.

The kitchen amenities include: a Coffee Maker (ground coffee provided), Nespresso Vertuo (pods/capsules not provided), dishes & utensils, dishwasher, microwave, paper towels, large gas cook top and full size oven, refrigerator/ ice maker with built in water, spices and a stocked pantry, toaster / blender and crockpots.

OUTDOOR SPACE: From the Adirondacks around the fire pit, watching your favorite sporting event bar or poolside or preparing an amazing meal to enjoy at the large table on the pool deck, or perhaps a rousing game of cornhole, and of course a cannonball into the deep end, this is where every member of your group will find themselves. This is where your memories are going to be made!

Amenities include: Adirondack chairs, dining table/chairs, chaise lounges/cushions, private salt pool, fire pit, grill / grill tools. Parking available in the large private driveway and behind the carriage house. Carbon monoxide detectors, deadbolt lock, security safe. Pinehurst offers a charming small-town atmosphere, complete with Southern hospitality. Those interested in golf and equestrian activities will find this area particularly engaging. But there is plenty more to love about Pinehurst like shopping, antiquing, or best yet, a day at the Pinehurst Resort Spa! The wide variety of restaurants available is enough to satisfy any palate and some of our particular favorites are the Roast Office, the Pine Scone Cafe, the Agora Bakery & Cafe, the Pinehurst Brewery, the Drum & Quill Pub and Lisi Italian Restaurant. Some of our favorite things to do in the area include The Village Arboretum, Rassie Wicker Park, Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, Harness Racing at the Fair Barn, the Aloha Safari, Camelot Playground and of course Pinehurst Resort, The Spa at Pinehurst and the Village Shops at Pinehurst

Just a note for our guests – there are several public golf courses within 5 miles of the cottage. The Village is less than half a mile, and Pinehurst Lake is only a mile and a half away.

This home is meant to be a quiet escape to relax and get away from it all with your favorite family and/or friends. We strive to be good neighbors and pride ourselves on attracting respectful guests that will love the property as much as we do and will also be considerate neighbors during their stay. We will consider your 4 legged canine family members on a case by case basis. Please tell us about your pup. We will consider up to 2 dogs and kindly ask that no dogs be allowed in or on any of the beds. We strive to provide a high level of service and accommodations. If you have a specific request, we will do what we can to accommodate you.
