It is cosy and comfortably furnished, featuring 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies, and a living-dining area with a kitchenette, as well as a 50" Smart TV and Wi-Fi. Start your day with breakfast on the balcony and enjoy the treehouse vibe. The second large balcony is furnished and ideal for enjoying the evening sun with a “sundowner.”
In the garden, we’ve set up a barbecue area for our guests with a beer table and benches. There are also a few lounge chairs and a ping-pong table here.
Parking is available right in front of the house.
The town features a bakery, butcher shop, supermarket, café, doctor’s office, lace-making museum, artists’ house, toy store, natural swimming pool, horse ranch, art trail, a vintage train with weekend rides, a fitness trail, a church, a chapel, an auto repair shop, 3 restaurants, and at Bondi am Bad, there’s not only a beer garden but also very tasty and affordable pizza. (Takeaway available too.) Within a 5 km to 15 km radius, there are 4 Italian restaurants (one organic Italian restaurant), 1 Greek restaurant, and additional beer gardens.
The thermal baths in Bad Steben, 12 km away, are absolutely fantastic, featuring water attractions, a sauna area, and a wellness dome—as is the thermal bath in Bad Lobenstein, also 12 km away.
The ski lift and ski lodge are located just 100 metres behind the house and offer cosy evenings in the winter with mulled wine and singing. Various hiking trails and cross-country ski trails also lead through the forests from here (hiking maps are available).
At the end of April, the “Kronach Leuchtet” light festival takes place for two weeks. There’s plenty to enjoy here—culinary delights and visual spectacles—as well as several live bands on stage for music lovers.
Ideal for outdoor activities!
Our area is heavily forested and offers various beautiful hiking trails, including a panoramic trail stretching for many kilometres—a delight for all Nordic walkers and mountain bikers (maps are available in the holiday rental). Brand-new: guided e-bike tours with rentals are now available!
Particularly attractive is the 11-km-long, paved recreational trail around the dam (4 km from our house) or the Bleilochtal Dam with its beach in Saaldorf (approx. 20 km away). Surrounded by mountains and forests, inline skating and biking are especially fun here! Some bicycles are available for rent. The wild and romantic landscape of the Rodach Valley also offers other activities, such as canoeing, rafting, and fishing.
The newly built nature adventure pool delights children and adults alike, as does the ride on the old steam locomotive on weekends. The village is home to a gliding club, and many venture into the skies under expert guidance. For horse lovers, there’s the Stone Ranch, which offers horseback riding and a pub. A national-level bowling alley and a tennis court are located in our Nordwaldhalle, where concerts and dances (including the Christmas dance on the second day of Christmas) are also held. The amateur theatre group puts on performances from time to time, and the Nordwald Spectacle in June takes you back to the Middle Ages.
In winter, groomed cross-country trails and a ski tow complement the offerings in Nordhalben, along with three additional ski runs within a 25-kilometer radius. For kids, the summer toboggan run and the climbing park in Saaldorf are a welcome treat. The railway museum, the iron foundry, numerous castles and palaces, the tropical house, and the glass museum in Tettau... all within easy reach.
At our bobbin lace school, you can learn one of the oldest crafts and visit the museum. The Künstlerhaus is located in the town centre, where you’ll find many works of art to discover. The region also boasts numerous castles and palaces, such as Europe’s largest fortress complex, Rosenberg Fortress in Kronach, and Plassenburg Castle in Kulmbach.
