About this property
Lazy 8 is a remodeled historical farmhouse in the countryside of Snyder Co., PA
Nestled in the backwoods of Amish country, the Lazy 8 is a historic farmhouse on a peaceful estate with all the accommodations of country living, located in Snyder County, Pennsylvania.
Rich in history, the Lazy 8 was constructed in the mid 1800’s and was a 3-story hunting camp including an exposed stone laid basement. It was purposefully located beside an artesian well that supplied water to the basement and is still a water source on the property today.
In 1973 the structure was remodeled as a farmhouse, renovating the core and adding wings onto both sides.
Although grand with all its rooms, the Lazy 8 is quaint with its use of space. You may find the occasional lower ceiling, narrow doorway, or steeper than usual steps. Characteristics common in traditional farmhouses.
The Lazy 8 was completely renovated from 2022 to 2023, to accommodate up to 14 people with its 6 themed bedrooms accompanied by 4 bathrooms that span the mid and upper levels of the 3-story farmhouse.
The quaint kitchen has the necessary accommodations to prepare family meals, including an electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, double ovens, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and fully supplied kitchen cabinets.
The dining room can accommodate your family of 10 with overflow setting for 6 in the breakfast nook.
You’ll enjoy the peace and quiet as you relax in the sunroom overlooking the horses in the pasture with the rolling countryside as a backdrop.
The lower level has an entertainment area with a bar, poker table and living room space for movie night. The adjacent game room includes foosball, ping pong, a multicade and other games.
Outdoor living spaces include a front porch, rear porch, and campfire area. We encourage you to explore the acres of property where you will find a cold cellar, wishing well and some farm animals to talk to. You can also enjoy the beauty of the barn and rolling pastures but there is not admittance to them.
Other accommodations include an entrance lobby, laundry room, office, and garage space used to store additional outdoor seating, yard games, BBQ grill, trash/recycling containers and other accommodations. A whole house, on demand backup generator, Roku TVs (including local programming), central air and Starlink internet also included.

Gorgeous and clean home for our family to celebrate college graduation. Perfect space to relax and spend time with family. Amazing hosts, thank you for all of the small details and time you out into our stay.
We felt right at home and the home was so well stocked with everything we needed. Everything was spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed coffee on the sun porch watching the horses!
This property is absolutely gorgeous. The house is beyond our expectations with the space, game room, and sun porch. We spent most of our time on the sun porch watching the horses. Would definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful family reunion!!!
Loved the house - especially the lower level game room! We enjoyed the horses, donkeys and chickens. And the fresh eggs in the fridge when we arrived.
Highly recommend the Lazy 8.
Our family rented this house for a week as we had multiple birthdays to celebrate. Everyone loved the house! Very spacious, comfortable and with unique design. It’s the first time I stayed in a house that has its own farm. This adds some magical and peaceful vibes.
The host was super responsive.
Would definetely stay again!
This is a beautiful property. We had an extended family get-together for Thanksgiving. All 11 people (3 to 102) were able to relax and enjoy visiting. The kids loved the farm animals and the game room in the basement. We will probably be back next Thanksgiving.
This house and property are beyond a 10! From the huge dining table that fit all nine of us with room to spare, to the relaxing sun porch overlooking the barn and animals, this home is perfect for a large group. Travis and his family went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. I would definitely recommend The Lazy 8!
Celebrated my daughter’s College graduation. Had family come from NJ, CT, and OH. The house was beautiful and accommodated all of us. The welcome baskets in each room was such a nice gesture and fresh eggs left for us. Horses and donkeys what more could you ask for. Will recommend and definitely stay again.
Our family (10 adults) had an awesome stay at the Lazy 8. The home accommodated all of us with no issues. The place creates the perfect vibe to just relax and /or have some fun. We stayed here to attend son’s graduation at PSU, which was 1 hour away. Well worth staying here and making the drive. Avoided the chaos of State College. Thanks Travis and Tammy for having such a great place for people to relax and bond
We had a large group ranging in ages from 6 to early 50s stay for the Memorial Day weekend. We were up for a memorial service and a family reunion over the weekend in nearby Mifflintown. The Lazy 8 was the perfect place to host our group. While we were there, the kids kept themselves entertained by the farm animals in the morning or in the basement in the evenings while the adults enjoyed their morning coffee and evenings catching up on the sun porch taking in the beautiful property. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking.
We rented the house for Penn State's graduation and to host out-of-town family and friends. Plenty of room inside and out for all our friends and family. The game room was a hit and so was the sun porch and the back patio. Corn hole boards and plenty of camp chairs made for a great afternoon. There is also a great fire pit with plenty of wood. The double-oven in the kitchen was handy for warming the catering we brought in. One more, though, that not all the bedrooms have a closet or wardrobe for hanging garments. There is closet space enough if you share.
I could only give 5 stars but I’d have given it a 10! The hosts were beyond gracious and kind. The house cannot be described. We all want to live there. It was the best family vacation ever. I was checking return dates before we left. We gained a new vacation spot and new family members. This block isn’t big enough to describe how we fell in love with the hosts and the house! All the kids have messaged how wonderful it all was and how they miss it already.
The Lazy 8 is a perfect large group getaway for the family that wants to do nothing and disconnect to connect. The well supplied kitchen gives you all the utensils and pans you need and the double oven and 2 fridges makes meal time so easy and the large table gave plenty of room for large holiday meals and plenty of elbow space for 12. The game room gave plenty of choices from the arcade machine with 60 throw back games to the spacious game table that easily seated 8 for card and board games. Travis was a great host with nice little surprises left in each room and wonderful communication. While I know they were on property every day for the animals never really saw them coming or going.
