About this property

Mid-Century Modern Time Capsule Near Downtown!

This 1950s home is certainly more unique than most hotel rooms in Baker City. With only one owner in 71 years, the 2 bed, 1 bath vacation rental is filled with charm. All we added during the restoration phase is air conditioning, a few antique furniture gems, and mid-century modern decor for style, comfort, and a fun blast through the past. Everything else is original, including the hardwood floors which we found hidden underneath the carpet! They were quite literally, held in a time capsule!

This home is 2,334 sq ft including the basement, which is currently unfinished and houses the washer and dryer. The living room and dining area are in an open-concept type room, with the kitchen in the room over. The basement and one-car garage are accessible through the kitchen.

Both our green and blue, and blue and pink pastel, themed rooms have a queen bed and tons of classic, 1950s built-in storage. For those who need a dedicated workspace, the blue and pink room also has a beautiful, antique desk.

The yard is small but cozy; it has green grass, trees, and shrubs on a corner lot with a small deck through the sliding door. The deck has a lot of shade and can be seen from the sidewalk and neighborhood.

If you are traveling for work and looking at rental houses in Baker City, Oregon to stay at for longer periods of time, we are happy to accommodate you. This space is especially great for traveling nurses, lab technicians, and contractors.

You’ll have full private access to every part of the home, yard, and garage.

I live in town and am accessible throughout the day via the AirBNB message app or phone. I work every morning in Richland until midday, so I can personally offer support in the afternoons. In the event of a house-based emergency, however, I do have a local team that I can call on.

This is one of, if not the, best neighborhoods in Baker City. It is a peaceful, respectable residential neighborhood and has easy access to Main Street and the parks via the scenic Powder River green belt pathway. Enjoy a quiet, non-disruptive stay in a neighborhood where you get to assimilate into the culture of Baker City at its best.

With wide streets, this neighborhood is easy to navigate. The home is accessible from either 2nd Street or Grandview and offers a garage with a driveway and ample street parking on the curved corner lot.

If you are looking for lodging near downtown Baker City, this is it. Nestled in a quiet, residential neighborhood, The Time Capsule is only a few blocks from Barley Brown’s Taphouse and Restaurant, The Main Event Sports Bar, and much more. In addition to accommodations in Baker City, OR, we are happy to give local suggestions to enjoy your time in our little corner of eastern Oregon.

Much of the wood furniture in this mid-century modern home is authentic 1950s furniture in excellent condition. We ask that you please extend the same care and respect it has received over the past 60-70 years to keep it in such a condition. Keeping a 1950s housewife mindset is one of the best ways you can help us keep this vacation rental in tip-top shape!

A lovely house, perfect for resting after a long road trip. Absolutely no complaints. The host also allowed us in early and was very quick to respond with questions.

Hi there, I’m Tasheena. I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho and married during college. My husband and I lived a nomadic life for quite some time; moving around for school, work, and adventures while growing our family. We put down real roots, though, when we moved to Baker City, Oregon five years ago. Since then, we have fallen quite thoroughly in love with this charming and historic town. It is a perfect fit for a family of diverse interests. My husband spends his time in between ER shifts at the hospital, adventuring all over eastern Oregon; from hiking, trail running, swimming, mountain biking, and golfing, to snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing. Our kids love to explore the neighborhood and local community, from walks to the local ice cream shop, parks, and library, to family fun at the sports complex near the high school. I ranch, which means enjoying an endless supply of breathtaking sunrises in this rich portion of the PNW, and cultivating an ecosystem within it. I love my "office!" In my "spare time," I enjoy old movies, music, reading, yoga, and meditation. I am also hard at work cultivating an appreciation for fine whiskeys of every variety. I am relatively new to the world of short-term vacation rentals on the hosting side, but with a large family and many traveling friends, I have hosted my fair share of visitors. I absolutely love meeting new people and take great pride in creating a comfortable and thoughtful space that considers every small detail. Thanks for being here. I’m excited to meet you!

When you're ready, plenty of adventure awaits you and is only steps away.
