This townhouse was a perfect setup for my family and I. The location was exceptional. The host was easy to communicate with and extremely responsive. When we return to Banner Elk, I will be checking in to see if this place is available for us to stay in again.
Dana was very clear with any instructions for the townhome. Very easy to access and it was a great location for walking either to Lees McRae or into town. It was so nice seeing the bathrooms stocked and she even left some welcome snacks. We enjoyed our stay.
Host was great, the townhome was clean, and it had everything we needed. The furnishings were a bit sparse (No dresser in bedroom), but it didn’t pose a problem for us.

Confortable house, all equipped and great localization to reach different mountains and places.
Great rental property. Excellent location which was close enough to walk to downtown Banner Elk. Bunk beds are not particularly comfortable, though, and the Jacuzzi wasn't clean.
Very welcoming and inviting. Lots of room and places to sleep. Great location, very close to downtown food and shops. Like all homes, there are things that are good to know about how things work, but the host will let you know about things like the reversed hot and cold water in the master bath shower.
We were amazed at how large the property is. The snacks and games provided were greatly appreciated! The location is terrific if you want to walk anywhere in the town of Banner Elk.
We loved our stay, the home was clean and had plenty towels and supplies. The owner was very responsive with questions and check in/out instructions. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and close drive to the ski resorts. We will definitely stay again soon.

The HVAC system was broken and we had no air conditioning for the entire weekend. The host did send a service person but he said that the system was completely frozen and it would take three days for it to thaw. At our request, the host did send some floor fans, but the place was stuffy and uncomfortable when we were getting dressed for a black tie wedding weekend. There was a brand new portable air conditioning unit in the master bedroom but there were no instructions and we did not know that the window had to be open in order for it to work correctly, so I first night was miserably hot with that portable unit blowing hot air into the bedroom. The next day, the host shared the instructions, which definitely helped make the bedroom cooler but it made so much noise cutting on and off during the night, that it was terrible sleeping. The downstairs got hot in the afternoon and the living room ceiling fan was not operating.Overall, this place is a great location and is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed walking to restaurants. But it needs some major updating, including replacing a 20 year old HVAC system (according to the HVAC service man), replace old mini window blinds that let a lot of early morning light in, replace the wall to wall upstairs carpet and add some pictures or art for color. There is nothing hanging in most rooms. The outside patio, rails and garage were very dirty.

As of July 8th 2026 we have had an entire new Heating and Air Conditioning System installed. As soon as this guest reached out and said the air-conditioning wasn’t working properly, I sent a technician over. I would like to point out that over the course of their three day stay the high temperature in Banner Elk was 74°. I can provide a screenshot from 2:09 PM where we are exchanging texts and I told her that it is 53° outside, and I recommended opening the windows. She agreed to open the windows. The technician did say the system was frozen, and I had someone go to Lowe’s and buy 2 box fans and deliver them to try to help the situation. The brand new portable air-conditioning unit is there in case of emergencies and there is a tube leading out to the window. I just assumed they would know to open the window to let the warmer air out. When she told me it was blowing warmer air only, I realized they probably did not have the window open. I did tell them to open the window and then it started cooling immediately. In regards to there not being enough art on the walls, dirt in the garage, or dirty railings outside- I have never heard of these complaints before, so I will look into them. I am sorry they weren’t completely pleased with their stay; however, as a host, I felt like I did everything in my power once I knew there was a problem. A two star rating is harsh, and I believe this is simply because the air conditioning couldn’t be fixed immediately. Luckily it wasn’t hot outside to begin with, and we have remedied the situation by replacing the entire system.
The location was great to walk into town to the shops and restaurants! Dana was quick to respond to any questions we had! The place was clean and had everything we needed for a great stay!
