Island Escape - Spacious 4 BR House with Car included!
Long Island is a tranquil 400 year old fishing community known for its beautiful white sandy beaches and rocky coast. - A wonderful escape from the rest of the world. Our island house is a spacious 15 year old, 3 story year-round house with bedrooms and baths on the 1st and 2nd floors and the main living area on the 3rd floor. My 4 year old grandson described it as The Upside Down house which is now what many islanders call it! Previous renters have said it is the perfect place for a family vacation. The 3rd floor has an open floor plan with lots of room for everyone,… in the long galley kitchen, or by kids corner (Check under the counter for Legos!), in the living room and dining area, or on the deck. The four bedrooms on the first and 2nd floors and the wrap-around first floor farmers porch provide private spaces when you want a little peace and quiet. Each bedroom has a dvd player and a tv. We have a video library and the house does have wifi, but there is no tv channel reception. There is one smart tv with Amazon Prime in the living room. You’ll find bikes, beach chairs, and outdoor toys in the attached garage and tool shed and board games, cards, and lots of books throughout the house. If you start a book and don’t have time to finish it, you are welcome to take it with you! Our water supply is from a deep artesian well. The water is processed by a high-end water system that filters out the high mineral content that is commonly found on the island. So our water is drinkable, safe for kids, and good tasting, which is often not the case at other houses on the island. However we are on a small island, surrounded by salt water with only one source of fresh water. So please follow water conservation strategies. Thanks! The Boat House is a small grocery store with quality goods but limited selection. (Guests usually buy the bulk of their groceries on the mainland and freight them over on the ferry. ) Long also has a sandwich/pizza/ice cream shop with a large deck, as well as a gift shop, and a library with wifi. Pop into the historical society or into the new Community Center and ask about children’s activities . Or schedule your vacation so that you catch the 4th of July parade or the Lobster Boat Races!

We had a fantastic week on Long Island. The house was just perfect for my family and Stephanie was a wonderful host. We have already penciled in a stay for next year!
We stayed a week at the house and it was clean, comfortable and spacious.
Everything was well stocked with all the island necessities.
Stephanie was very easy to communicate with and always responded quickly.

Thank you Sam. It was a pleasure to host you. Hope you make it back to the island again another time!
Open living space is wonderful and the bedrooms provided private space as did the wrap around porch. Stephanie has everything you can possibly need from beach chairs to kabab skewers. The island is a special place and we hope to come back!
Stephanie’s home is spacious, clean, bright, and warm and perfectly suited for a family or friend group who want to vacation on awesome Long Island. The house is perfectly equipped with bikes, beach toys and chairs, linens, a full kitchen, and most other items you’d expect to find at home. Stephanie was responsive and accommodating and we loved our stay at her home. Five stars!

So glad you had such a nice week! Thanks for being wonderful guests and leaving the
house in such great shape. I would highly recommend renting to you. Hope to see you back on the island someday Marissa!
I have a rich history with Long Island: from earliest memory our Crowley family spent Dad’s 1 or 2 week summer vacation on the ‘Island’ where great uncle Father Tom Dunnagun built a small camp with no running water or electricity...rich memories of so many folks and fun!
I worked at Clark’s Store last 2 years at UofM, Orono . So much more
We live in Michigan: our 2 Grands love LI as much as I have ever.
Great visit for us all! Perfect place: 4 bedrooms, enough baths and every amenity except a dishwasher. Not hard to get past that one....grateful!

Wonderfully equipped island home with plenty of space for enjoying Long Island…..even in the rain! There with a swarm of grandchildren who really loved the games, toys, videos, yard and most especially biking all over the island. Stephanie was beyond helpful and flexible. Hope to go again!
We really enjoyed our time in Long Island, the house had plenty of room and everything we needed! The bathrooms are especially nice . It was great to have the bikes to use and the car when needed! The owners could not have been more previous! Thanks

Perfect Rental for our annual fishing trip
We rented this wonderful house for our annual fishing trip. We had 6 people and we had plenty of room and the owner was so helpful when we first got there. The house is on a very peaceful island with some of the most friendly people you will ever meet. There is a restaurant and a convenience store on the island and most importantly you can buy fresh lobster from some of the local fishermen, if you are there in the summer time. The owner also had several bikes that we could use to tour the island, and you will find a small private white sand beach on one end of the island. The city of Portland is only 20 minutes or so from the island if you take a water taxi, or about 40+ minutes if you take the ferry. This is a great place to take your family or friends for a peaceful vacation. I would recommend it to anyone! Thank you Stephanie!

Great Place for A Family Get Away!
If you are looking to escape with family but still want to be able to sneak into a city during the day, this is the place. I rented this house for a long weekend to surprise the wife and her family with a relaxing birthday long weekend. The house was beautiful and the layout, perfect. It slept four couples very comfortably and the open air kitchen/ living room, with a porch off the side is fantastic. We walked the local beaches and Portland in the AM, and grilled fresh seafood in the evenings, and . The owners were very accommodating, and helped to make sure that the weekend was great. We are looking to see if our schedules will allow for a return in the Summer time.

Beautiful spot
We were looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway with our family on Long Island, and this fit the bill. The house was clean and well-appointed. The owners were friendly and helpful. We never left the island because we were so comfortable in the house and on our many walks. I would love to return and would recommend this rental to anyone. I only wish we'd booked more time there.

About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Morris
My brother Rob and I were born and brought up in Portland Maine with our 8 other siblings. He is the youngest and I am the oldest. Our mom occasionally and secretly would escape the insanity of a household of 10 kids, all under the age of 13, to hop on the ferry and head with her darning and a book to the beautiful beaches of Long Island. Years later, after spending much time on the island ourselves, Rob and I built our island house there. It was then I discovered my mother had published her story in a book about special places in Maine and my brother and I got a mention!
Why they chose this property
Our family had been coming to Long Island for summer vacations for over 20 years. It had been a long-time dream to own a place on the island that we could come to year-round and now we do!
What makes this property unique
What makes me in love with this house? I like how the main living quarters are on the third floor - it's like being up in the trees with the birds. Some months you can see the ocean from there. Also, lunch on the deck, coffee on the farmers porch, snuggled up on a fall night reading a book in front of the fire. At night hearing the surf and the bells on the buoys. And always breathing in that fresh ocean air.
