IS THIS OASIS FOR YOU?
Do you love a comfortable bed? Each bedroom has a Tempur-pedic brand Cloud Supreme King-size bed. Bedding is high-quality. Four pillows are provided on each bed, with additional pillows to choose from. Choose your pillow fluffiness and firmness.

High-quality, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing furnishings—the same quality, brands, and styles that we enjoy in our own homes.

Flat screen TV in living room and each bedroom (3 total).

Do you like to gaze at a rare and beautiful view? All rooms have a San Francisco view except front bedroom. The front bedroom overlooks a lovely garden with fountain frequented by birds. This property has a view that scans – starting from the north, Mt. Tamalpais, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Port of Oakland, Oakland skyline, San Francisco Skyline, Alameda Island, the Bay and its estuaries; south are the western hills that separate the Bay from the Pacific. You are looking across at an amazing panorama, and everything near you is amidst trees and greenery (ergo, OAKland!)

Do you enjoy a fireplace on cool days? The living room has a beautiful Regency gas insert in front of the sofa, operated by wall-mounted remote control.

Don’t want to climb stairs to get to your rental? The Bay Area is a hilly area, therefore some rentals require climbing many step to access the rental. But not this rental! At this rental, although your magnificent view is elevated (2nd floor), you enter the rental from the street level. To enter “Oasis”, you walk from the street-side sidewalk, along a level walkway, up one small step to a stoop, then up a small step into the front door.

This is the main house with no noise over your head. Entry is from the street. The owners live downstairs which is “basement” level. We are quiet reclusive 70-ish folk who value our autonomy and quiet just as we respect yours. But at the same time, we are friendly and helpful. We take our responsibility as your hosts very seriously and will do all we can to make sure that you’re comfortable and have what you need.

Do you enjoying sitting on a large beautiful deck with comfortable furniture and awesome view of the San Francisco skyline and the famous bridges? The redwood deck is architecturally beautiful with each end shaped into a “Romeo and Juliet” curved balcony. One balcony connects to the master bedroom and has large outdoor Pottery Barn-with-rolled-arms wicker chairs. The other end connects to the kitchen and has a tall, large metal bistro dining table with 4 bar-height cushioned chairs from which to enjoy the view. A grill is on the deck (propane provided). The balconies are connected by a straight portion where there is additional seating.

Do you like to cook at home? The kitchen is fully furnished with cookware, utensils, place settings and basic condiments. Kitchen has: Wedgewood stove, microwave, Cuisinart drip maker with re-usable filter, toaster, and blender.
Can you live without an automatic dishwasher? As an interior design choice, we kept the vintage 1949 kitchen with the beautiful gas standing pilot Wedgewood stove. Our cabinets are original and of a depth that is slightly too narrow to accommodate a dishwasher.

Do you want a full-size clothes washer and dryer -- LG large capacity washer and dryer. with laundry detergent and softener provided.

Do you like to read? A small collection of books includes travel books (lots on Northern California), novels, and books related to philosophy, political science, and art. Take a day off and go on an intellectual exploration through an eclectic collection.

Do you enjoy the intimacy of overlooking a verdant garden? The expansive back deck overlooks a lush garden replete with – to name a few of the plants – a majestic poplar tree (condo to many squirrels and birds – and those Anna Humming birds put on quite a show!), calla lilies in the winter, a robust juniper tree with juniper berries, plum trees, apple tree, fig tree, bird of paradise, spider plants .

Are you allergic to dogs or cats? Animals are never allowed in the rental.

Parking is un-metered no-restrictions street parking that is generally plentiful. Guests are usually able to park in front of the rental.

Accessibility: The rental is appropriate for those who have the usual challenges that come with aging such as stiff joints and other mobility challenges that doesn’t require device-assistance, such as a walker or rollator. The rental’s interior is all on one level. The bath is a tub/shower combination with a 36” grab bar. An assist-bar is at the entry to the tub/shower. Please note that one has two small steps up to enter the rental, one step from the walkway to the stoop, the one step to enter through the front door. One must step down a small step to enter the outside deck. If you want any clarification about accessibility to learn if the rental will fit your requirements, please send an inquiry. The rental is not "Handicap Accessible".

The location’s near proximity to the 580 Freeway and the 880 Freeway gives you fast access to many local attractions and day trips to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Muir Woods, Route 1, Santa Cruz, Pacifica, Half Moon Bay etc.

You are only a 23 minute drive (if light traffic) from San Francisco, but you may prefer to take the scenic ferry that will deliver you all-too-quickly to the SF Ferry Building (and its many wonderful markets) or to Fisherman’s wharf.

More about the downstairs apartment: The owners live downstairs with a sweet Siamese cat, Cece. There is complete space separation between the units with no shared entrances. There is "quiet rock" between the floors to reduce noise transfer. The owners are rather reclusive but friendly, always available for any of the rental's needs.

Rental agreement required. Photo ID of each guest (may obscure ID#) required: must show photo, name, and date-of-birth.

I grew up in western NC. UCLA brought me to California, and I've lived in Oakland since 1987. I love Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area. My husband and I travel frequently and whenever possible we rent a vacation home rather than stay in a hotel. We value comfort and convenience and keep in mind our own expectations and preferences when furnishing and managing our rental. After a day of touring and sight seeing, we enjoy sitting on a beautiful deck enjoying each other and a glass of wine. We want to provide you with the best possible lodging experience to complement your enjoyment of this beautiful geography. We are huge fans of the Bay Area and enjoy its offerings of bountiful nature and urban delights as though we are constant tourists here. My husband was a frequent Bay Area visitor (from New England) when I met him through mutual friends 22 years ago. After I spent two cold north eastern winters with him, he came to his senses and moved to the temperate climate of the Bay Area. We married in 2005, and he has no regrets about relocating!

Why they chose this property

**Proximity to Bay Area/Napa tourist destinations.
**The decks with the "Romeo and Juliet" balconies provide a delightful place to "hang out", bird watch, enjoy the scenery . . .
**Wonderful home for families visiting nearby relatives. Great for Grandparents!
**Attentive host, Dee, who genuinely cares that you are cozy and comfortable. She uses every good and bad experience she's had in short term rentals to make this home 5 stars.
**Views! Our guests enjoy views of iconic features of the Bay Area: the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline, Mt. Tamalpais and more. During the night, it sparkles like a jewel from the living room, dining room, kitchen, and the entire back deck.
**You are 10 minutes from the Dr. Aurelia Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. The park contains the largest remaining natural stand of coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) found in the East Bay. The park is part of a historical belt of coast redwood extending south to Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Preserve and east to Moraga. Here there are many hiking trails. (Search for "best trails" in this park to get an idea.)
**Minutes from Chabot Space Center and the Oakland Zoo
**Easy access to the ferry terminal and free parking for trips to San Francisco
**An hour (sometimes only 38 minutes during certain times) to Half Moon Bay, a beautiful beach, and outdoor seating (or indoor) at Sam's Chowder House
**About 13 minutes from the City of Alameda with its small-town vibe and its many restaurants, bars, and shopping
