Family Activities-: Keeping the kids happy can make or break a vacation, but when visiting Otsego County, boredom is never a consideration. When the weather won't cooperate or the little ones have just plain run out of things to do, that's when it's time to venture out and discover the many attractions that can put smiles back on their faces. The Otsego County Sportsplex, where kids and grownups can swim in an Olympic-size pool or rent a pair of skates an take to the ice for 'wintertime' fun, even as the sidewalks are sizzling outside. Adjacent to the Sportsplex is the Energy Outlet, a quaint park filled with slides, swings and climbing equipment, all designed to delight and distract the kids from any thoughts of boredom. Throughout the park are structures embedded with information and etchings of the dinosaur age, and surrounding all the fun stuff is a paved walking track.
and more family activities...: At Call of the Wild, fun and learning go hand in hand, and it's almost a sure thing that kids want to go back again and again. After touring the outdoors, vistors can step outside the museum to ride on a go-kart or play a round of miniature golf. Checking out the wildlife museum is great fun, but to catch a glimpse of the real thing, a stop at the elk-viewing area at the end of Grandview Boulevard (just east across South Otsego Ave. from Wiscousin St) will afford you a close-up view of North Michigan wildlife. If you still have energy after all that, give some through to seeing a movie at Gaylord Cinema on M-32 West, which shows several different features daily.

The entire family had a great time. The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our vacation. The boat launch and dock were very convenient. It was also close enough to Gaylord for when we wanted to go into town
We had a great time staying at your cabin. Close proximity to hikes we did. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The fire pit area and privacy was awesome.
Mitch is a excellent host !! His property is 100%maintained and in a beautiful wooded lot over looking beautiful lake arrowhoot. The house outside and in is maintained and very clean. Thank you mitch for another wonderful stay. Julia
Very nice property. Convenient parking. Love the fire pit. Swimming area very nice. Through no fault of the owner we only had 1 warm and sunny day. Did some hiking at Jordan River. Visited Short’s Brewery in Bellaire. Went to Petoskey for the day.
Thank you very much. It was peaceful and relaxing. Very nice and clean. Check in was no contact and simple as was check out. Nice beds. And lots of supplies. Would do this again and actually plan to.
We enjoyed our stay at this property. Peaceful, relaxing and quiet. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Loved the spacious porch and the use of the Kayaks. We will definitely be back.
The property is beautiful- the views from the wrap around porch and the fire pit are outstanding. We loved having our senior dog with us. Kitchen was well stocked- adequate dishes and silverware for 7 adults and plenty of pots and pans. Ceiling fans in all the rooms and a washer and dryer were a bonus. Thank you for a wonderful week!
This was I believe our fourth trip to Mitch’s Place for our Summer family vacation and it is always wonderful! The home is on a large lot at the quieter end of the lake, with a large fire pit area, and a lovely wrap around porch with the best views!Mitch is always quick to respond with needs or questions. His home offers everything you could possibly want for a family vacation. We love the use of the dock and the kayaks.Looking to return again next Summer! Thank you Mitch!
This is the 6th time my family, friends and I have stayed at this property. LOVE IT!! If you are looking for peaceful with beautiful scenery, this is it.
Absolutely perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet outdoors.
We were so extremely happy with this property. It offered everything and more that we were hoping for, swimming, kayaking, hiking and bonfires! Our labs LOVED it too. We’ll be back! If we could we’d give it 10 out of 5 stars!!
Came back to see Lake Arrowhead After 40 years, had wonderful childhood memories here. It’s still a beautiful place. House was in great location, rained both days so didn’t do much outside.
Property is always well appointed and clean. We love the quiet, end-of-the-lane setting, as do our puppies. The fishing was really good this week, lots of bass and large pike in the area around the property. This is seven straight years for us and we will be back next year.
We enjoyed the time with our doggies chasing sticks, kayaking and swimming, and just sitting by the fire pit with our friends in the evening. Caught a four pound small mouth bass and a 5 pound large mouth bass as well spme nice panfish on the fly rod. This was 6 years in a row renting the home, and we have so many great memories. As usual, we had great neighbors in the owner's house next door. Always hard to say goodbye to the lake!
I highly recommend this house. It was clean, comfortable, and a short 10 min drive into Gaylord. The privacy of this property is what really stood out. It's at the end of the street with no neighbors on the left side, which is where the fire pit is located. Lots of split wood if you like to have fires at night. The lake is beautiful and clean. The owner, Mitch, was very responsive. Made a 45 minute trip up to Mackinaw city and took the ferry to the Island for a day. Was a great experience! Definitely rent bikes and ride the entire road around the island.

Great vacation
Overall I give this 5 stars, there are definitely more pros than cons. The water was high this year so there was no beach. And the dock could use some work, however we enjoyed swimming in the lake. I wish there was a place to sit and watch the grandson swim. The living room furniture was comfy, beds are adequate. Not like home but not too bad. The towels do need replacing as well as some of the frying pans. But none of this hurts the rating and we hope to rent again! Thank you Mitch. Ps also a shout out to the pontoon rental ppl. Since it was already rented for the week they came by and gave us a ride around the lake which is bigger than you think. 🏊♂️🎣🛶🛳💙
Plenty of room to hang out with our dogs by the beautiful lake, great fire pit for socializing, and convenient to large expanses of public lands and small towns for supplies. Everything we needed for a weeklong stay was on hand.
