About this property
Westworld, Gateway
Escape to another world & another time. A world where the days move slower & the beauty of nature isn't a far off daydream. A world of the past. Escape to Westworld. If you're wondering why our soaring vistas look familiar, it's because scenes from the award winning HBO series, Westworld, were filmed right here in Gateway! Now you can experience it from our 50s western inspired home! Waiting out your backdoor are views of rising red cliffs, a fire-pit like no other & adventure at every turn.
Our home is a charming 50s western getaway, with two cozy bedrooms & 2 newly remodeled bathrooms. Additionally our living room offers two large sofas, and a basement with additional sofa seating. There is a front and back porch waiting for you to kick back and settle into a slower pace during your getaway, but the real draw waits in the back yard. Our fire-pit area is made with local stone from a mine just up canyon, and the you will be treated to the best views of the red rising cliffs of The Palisade mountain in the entire valley.
In the backyard are peach, apricot and apple trees that produce sought after fruit in the town of Gateway. If you are there while the trees are in fruit, you are more than welcome to help yourself!
Experience the magic of Gateway Canyons Resort without the price tag! This 5 star resort built by the owner of the Discovery Channel offers a world class restaurant, bar & spa- all available to the public! You can book spa treatments, or just pop across the street for a bite & drink. They also have some of the most jaw dropping trail systems just behind the resort for hikers and mountain bikers alike, all available for public use. You'll also find the Gateway Canyons Auto Museum, which houses the privately-owned Hendricks Collection. Or if you want to head out and explore the wild, Gateway is surrounded by some of the greatest outdoor beauty & adventure in the entire country! The Dolores river runs a short distance from the house, where you can follow it through winding canyons for endless views and public land to explore. You can also head up John Brown canyon which connects over to Moab via a mountain pass filled with Piñon Pines and views of the surrounding mountains.

About the host
Hosted by Joey Coleman

I'm a Colorado native that has lived all over the world with my amazing wife. Over the years we've been lucky to stay at some incredible properties in every corner of the globe, & in doing so we've learned what are the most important factors to a truly unique stay. When we moved home to the mountains we brought the lessons we learned with us, & we now love creating those experiences for others!
It's important that all of our properties are not only held to the standards we'd expect from somewhere we would want to stay (cleanliness, ease of use, comfort), but also that they leave you with a unique experience of the region we are lucky to call home. We love our little pieces of paradise, & it's our goal that you leave feeling the same way!
Feel free to reach out with any questions- I'm happy to help!

Why they chose this property
Gateway is a true Colorado hidden gem waiting to be explored by those going off the beaten path. But to make things better, there is a world class resort, Gateway Canyons Resort, just down the road built by the creator of the Discovery Channel, and the restaurant/bar, spa and adventure center is open to the public! It's a way to experience the resort at a fraction the price! Our views from our backyard and one of a kind fire pit are truly breath taking, and we've built an experience to remove you from the chaos of the modern world, and provided you with a chance to slow down, unwind, and soak up the beauty of the area.
The Unaweep Canyon is one of the most beautiful drives in Colorado, and you'll drive right through it to get to our home! All around the house are rising red cliffs that will transport you to the old west, all while having the modern comforts of a newly renovated home, complete with wifi, a tv set for movie nights with roku and so much more! You can also make the drive up John Brown canyon, just a couple minutes up the road, which connects all the way to Moab, UT! Adventure is waiting at every turn for those seeking it, or if you're just looking to unwind, our home is the perfect place to kick back and relax!
