Riverside Cabin

Get away and recuperate! Nestled in the trees high above the water, the Overlook Cabin offers a peaceful, comfortable, and intimate experience of the Ohio River, with a large riverfront window, 8x12ft deck, & jacuzzi bathtub. The 12x40ft space has a queen bed, two twins, and a couch, and would be great for families, hunters, or couples. Dogs/cats welcome. Cabins are stocked with complimentary locally-sourced coffee. There is a large outdoor area for kids to play or for a picnic or campfire, a gas grill, climbing dome, and a path directly down to the river for hiking or fishing. Lots of hiking/hunting in the area, about four miles from a boat launch (KH Butler), and 10-15-minutes from a cute little town. Free parking on site. Free wifi. Smart TV & DVD player available. Owners live onsite should any issues arise.

We had a fine time staying in your Cedar Cabin! All the amenities were as promised, no shortages and some in excess! Everything worked exactly as it should. The view from the deck on the back of the cabin was quite enjoyable; watching the riverboats and barges cruise up and down the Ohio River was fascinating (our dog enjoyed being out there too : ) ! You and Gina were wonderful, and oh the breakfasts Gina made were delicious. My Wife and i would come back for those if for nothing else. I also recommend the City of Gallipolis and surrounding area; if you're looking to get away from the bustle of the big cities this is a great place to do so, many interesting attractions and don't miss dinner at the Tuscany Italian Restaurant, very good fare. We absolutely recommend a stay at your wonderful gem of a getaway. Blessings on you and yours, Marc and Susan.

A wonderful in the middle of nowhere kind of place. And wonderful Jacuzzi style tub!We also forgot our mothman shirts at the property and they are working to mail them to us. Wonderful hosts.

Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was very clean and quaint. Breakfast brought to our door in the morning was a nice touch. We went to visit the Mothman Museum which was beautiful easy 30 minute drive. It was exactly what we were looking for at a great price. Communication was great as soon as I made the reservation. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to stay. There is an "industrial" area right across the river which gave off a constant hum but, it didn't really bother me much. And the patio on the back overlooking the Ohio river was the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and have a morning coffee.
The porch was spotless. Not a cobweb or bird poop to be found.

Suoer friendly host and staff! A very comfortable and unique cabin overlooking the Ohio River where we watched the barges pushing their loads. The homecooked breakfast delivered to the cabin in the morning was a nice perk. And we appreciated finding that welcomed our pets.

Comfy cabin

Former city-folk, Rebecca & Chris moved to the area from LA in 2016 to homestead off-grid, with the goal of living as freely and self-sustaining as possible. Serious health issues forced them to leave the property after three years, at which point they bought a local convenience store/diner that they overhauled to specialize in homemade, locally-sourced food. Unfortunately, the restaurant needed to close to the general public in 2023 due to the economy. In addition to the cabins, Rebecca and Chris also work as educators and artists. They now have a six-year-old daughter, Cypher, and a new baby boy, Reason, and are increasingly grateful every day for their lives out here on the water.

Why they chose this property

Light, water, space, and the river! So much nature - lots of trees and hills. The cabin is one large open floorplan, with the exception of the full bathroom. A deck overlooks the water. The main cabin room has a vaulted ceiling with a large window overlooking the beach and the water, which makes the rustic yet modern space feel open and full of light. Outside there is direct access via a path down to the beach & water, for fishing and hiking, as well as a large open grassy & landscaped space overlooking the river, with a fire pit, swing set, gas grill, and flagstone areas with tables. The property also borders a deep creek, with lots of trees. The cabins & yard are separated from the road by the restaurant (no longer open to the public) and the owner's house. Free Parking. Free wifi. Smart TV & DVD player. The room is heated/cooled primarily with a mini split unit. Guests can access the river, beach, and yard at their leisure. There is also a landing spot for boats about four miles south (KH Butler, managed by the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources) and a cute little town about a 10-15-minute drive north. Two parking spaces available per cabin, with more potentially available upon request. We live in a very rural area, so there are a variety of dwellings and lots of patches of woods around.
