About the host

Host profile image
We are a family of three who call Hamilton, Montana home. Fenn moved here when he was just five years old, and Kathryn has called Montana home for over twenty years. This historic house, built in the 1900's, was our home for six years and holds a very special place in our hearts. It is the place where we brought our baby girl home and where we began our family.

We love Montana's outdoor lifestyle and spend as much time as possible exploring the Bitterroot Valley. We love traveling, mountain biking, experiencing new cultures, cooking together, and meaningful time with friends and family.

We chose to host because we love sharing both this home and the beauty of the Bitterroot Valley with others. This house has so much character, and we have taken great care to make it a comfortable, inviting place to stay. Our hope is that our guests feel at ease from the moment they arrive and truly enjoy their time in Hamilton, whether they are here to explore, relax, or reconnect with family and friends.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is one of the favorite parts of staying here. The entire area is filled with beautifully preserved historic homes, each with its own character. The house next door is especially unique and built entirely from river rock, and the home across the street is a stunning, flawless Craftsman from the early 1900's. Walking through the neighborhood feels like stepping back in time, while still being close to everything Hamilton has to offer.

From late spring through fall, there is always something happening nearby. Saturday morning farmers market begins in May and is an easy walk away. In June, Hamilton Daly Days, honoring founder Marcus Daly with live music and family-friendly activities. July brings Brewfest, featuring breweries from across Montana along with local food trucks. Later in the summer there is a Celtic festival, and throughout the year many other community events centered around families gathering together.

Fall brings Apple Days downtown, celebrating the Bitterroot Valley's apple orchards. During the Holidays, the downtown Christmas Tree lighting takes place the weekend after Thanksgiving and includes carriage rides, photos with Santa, food carts, s'mores, hot chocolate, and roasted chestnuts over an open fire. It is a charming, walkable neighborhood that truly reflects the heart of Hamilton and the Bitterroot Valley.

What makes this property unique

What makes this home stand out is the combination of its location, history, and the way it feels both inside and out. It is located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Hamilton, surrounded by historic homes and within easy walking distance of downtown, local events, and everyday conveniences.

The house has been thoughtfully cared for and retains much of its original character, from the hardwood floors and tall windows to the beautiful custom wood doors that open into a private back deck. Recent updates, including a newly renovated bathroom, new back deck and concrete countertops, add modern comfort while still fitting seamlessly with the home's historic feel.

The back deck is a favorite feature and offers a quiet, private space to enjoy morning coffee, dine outside, or unwind after a day exploring the Bitterroot Valley. Inside, the kitchen and living areas are designed for gathering, whether you are cooking together, relaxing by the wood stove during cooler months, or simply enjoying the natural light throughout the home. Overall, this is a place that feels welcoming, like a real home. It is a place where guests can slow down, settle in, and experience Hamilton in a way that feels authentic and local.
