We had an incredible stay at the Sand Bay Lodge! The cabin-style rooms were cozy and comfortable, with stunning views of Lake Michigan. The lodge's location was ideal for exploring Sturgeon Bay and the rest of Door County. 5 stars!
The Kitchen was outfitted with an amazing amount of utensils, pots, pans, skillets, flat ware, towels, cloths and spices, toaster and so on. Enough table space. check in went smoothly and the house was in order and very clean and neat.
very good kitchen and living room. our family had fun in the game room. 2 of the beds not real comfortable and one sleeping area somewhat cramped and not real private.
We had a group of 12 adults and 5 children and had plenty of room. Loved the big dining table as we were able to enjoy a meal together as a family. Kitchen was well stocked and my sister-in-law loved the oversized refrigerator. Also enjoyed the deck outside with the great view of the lake and the fire pit. Only downside was that the direct access to the lake was boarded off. However, there was still access next door.
The lodge was absolutely perfect for our family! We had 4 generations, a total of 19 people, and it accommodated us well. Plenty of sleeping arrangements and bathrooms. The two 1st floor bathrooms were perfect for our parents (in their 80's) so they wouldn't have to climb stairs. Commercial size fridge was great for bringing enough food to feed the large crowd for 4 days, and lots of seating at the table to share meals together. The teens and young adults loved the canoes and the sports equipment. Everybody enjoyed the firepit, and we even got to see the Northern Lights while having a camp fire! Special thanks to Dan for checking in and taking good care of us, and even brought over fishing poles for the boys to fish from the dock. Great place!
Lots of space: large, well-equipped kitchen, dining table that comfortably fit 16 of us. No washer or dryer. Only significant negative is that most of the beds are NOT comfortable.
Excellent location at lake's edge, with plenty of rooms, beds, and different kinds of spaces for family members to interact, play, rest. Big kitchen area with lots of refrigerator space, tables, chairs. Dan responded quickly and helpfully to any questions.
For our multi-generational group of 23 - from 2 to 77 -- we also rented the excellent North View house next door to the Main Lodge, which allowed for more quiet get-away and sleeping time.
Took my family up to celebrate the new year and the "Lodge" did not disappoint. Plenty of room for everyone to gather or relax. Shuffle board and Foosball were a big hit. Would definitely recommend!
Rustic decor with good beds and bedding, 4 baths, 7 beds some with Queen and bunks. Kitchen was awesome and spacious. Lots of room for multiple cooks. Nice deck and fire pit but deck over water needed repair. Bicycles could use some up dating too. Flat tires, sagging kick stands. Ac worked great down stairs but up stairs was hot. Didn’t use the game room as the weather was too good to be inside but if we had a rainy day, plenty of indoor fun. The only complaint Is
A little too close to noisy neighbors..and we had to cross their yard (and party) to get to the water access.
Our family of 20 stayed at Sandbay Lodge for a week over the July 4th holiday. The house had plenty of space for cooking, dining and relaxing. Home was extremely clean but a bit dated in decor. WiFi was okay for texting but unable to stream videos/photos and take any conference calls. (Rural setting and not the owners fault.) We had a few minor hiccups that the owners took care of right away. Thanks for a great stay!
We stayed during memorial weekend and it was one of the perfect weekend.Loved the stay here

Great property for large families
There are many things that are great about this property; it is the perfect home for large extended families and the kitchen is supplied with everything you could possibly need-crock pots, all sizes of pots and pans, leftover plastic food containers, sippy cups for the little ones ect. The beds were ok from a comfort stand point and the sheets could be updated, but I do realize this is a rental property. Also the furniture was quite outdated, but we spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the amazing views. (some of the patio furniture needs to be repaired or replaced also)
There was a couple of disappointing features as well; mostly because there is no longer a beach on this property. In fact the water level is so high we were unable to use the best deck on the property that was at the water's edge. We realize the owner has no control over this, but feel that this should have been disclosed to us. There is also one picture on the website that should be deleted as it shows a long stretch of sand that is supposedly viewable from the property and we could not see sand unless we were out on pier straining our eyes.
We were extremely happy with our stay at Sand Bay Lodge. The kitchen & bathrooms were up-to-date and very nice. The kitchen was huge and had all of the utensils that we needed. It was hot the first couple of days of our stay so the upstairs did not cool as well as the downstairs. Once the evenings cooled down it was very pleasant. The owners were very friendly and easy to work with.
gorgeous getaway location, plenty of room and the views are excellent!

Beautiful House on a Beautiful Lake, but Customer Service was Sub-Par
When my group of 25 teenagers and 5 adults arrived at the property, we were amazed by the beauty of the property. It has the lake in its backyard, with a large fire pit, dock, large back deck, and a grand interior. Aside from the beauty of the property, the rooms were well-furnished and held all of us with ample space.
It was obvious it was an attractive property. But there were some cons as well. There were SO MANY bay flies on this property - you could hardly walk outside without swarms of them. The house is also filled with taxidermy, so if you're squeamish I wouldn't suggest this property. We had a vegan on our trip, and she was very disturbed by all the stuffed animals.
Also, before our trip it was a little difficult to contact the owner. Granted, there is virtually no service on the property, so our messages may not have gone through. If you are someone who needs to be attached to their phone while you are here, this may not be the property for you.
In conclusion, my group had an amazing time. The game room in the basement was a blast, we used the fire pit every night, and we would go back later in the summer so that it's warmer. If you are freaked out by bugs, taxidermy, and no service, search elsewhere. The neighbors are nice, the owner is very accommodating, and the property is stunning.

Exceptional Stay & Exceptional Acommodating Owners! First Rate!
We can't say enough of our stay here and how extremely fortunate we feel to have come across such gracious hosts! My wife & I actually stayed at the Bayview Cottage (next door) and were treated to all the amenities you could ask for and more. This is a cozy get away that provides beautiful sunsets, great fishing, great walks and minutes from downtown Sturgeon Bay. The whole place is inviting, beds are comfy and we both were so relaxed here and we're sure anyone staying here will love it!
