Welcome to the Stargazer Chalet! Our freshly renovated home is a super private, secluded 4 bedroom with a loft and a kids cave that sleeps 2-4, 3 bath 2200 sf house that backs to thousands of acres of national forest. It offers an over-sized 2 car garage with carport, 6 person private hot tub and expansive deck. The deck is perfect for stargazing as the Milky Way is always visible since there are no light sources nearby. The chalet is located 5 miles South from Purgatory resort. 4 wheel drive is mandatory in winter months of November - March as the house is up the hill from the highway, but driveway is paved and plowed continously on snowy days. Very fast Starlink internet 400+ mps. Owner managed and located 5 minutes away for any needs.

Hi, I’m Basil. I used to vacation to the Pagosa and Durango areas as a kid and always loved it here. Eventually my wife and I decided to buy a house here and then a year or so later decided to live here full time since we both could work remotely. We’re avid skiers, I mountain bike and ride my enduro motorcycle in the beautiful backcountry just steps away from our home. We have one son who is a great skier, musician and enjoys mountain biking. Our dog Rosie loves to join us on hikes. We love this area and never plan on leaving.
Why they chose this property
This is a magical property that we spent every weekend of 5 months lovingly remodeling and restoring. The views in every direction are incredible and at night you'll be amazed by how bright the stars are, the milky way is always visible. Stargazing from the hot tub is the most relaxing and wonderful experience. This is a very private and secluded property that backs to the national forest and is wonderful for entertaining large groups. The large front deck is perfect for gathering and taking in the views. Close to Purgatory Ski Resort, Glacier Club Golf, Electra Lake, Haviland Lake, hundreds of miles of backcountry hiking and jeep trails. We are 20 minutes from town and a great launch point to nearby beautiful towns such as Silverton, Ouray and Telluride. There is plenty of parking on the property, a two car garage, and a parking area for a toy hauler or camper. We're honored to share this property with everyone and share what the area has to offer. As seasoned hosts, we know how much planning and expense goes into a vacation and we're dedicated to making this one of the most memorable experiences you'll have.
What makes this property unique
The views are incredible. The house has been extensively remodeled, it is like a new construction inside. New paint, new furniture, mattresses, carpet, flooring, appliances, doors, fixtures, lighting, etc. Everything is new! Secluded and safely set back from the highway, plenty of room for the kids and dogs to safely play. Great for large groups and families.
