Great little abode in fabulous location. Bathroom a little small, but manageable. Has everything you need for a relaxing, feel like a local, stay. Want to eat in, no problem, eat out, great little brassiere near by. Walking distance to everywhere and metro & tram a moment away. Charlotte is a wonderful host and we'd stay again without a moments hesitation!
I really loved staying along the canal, and getting to go behind one of the historic buildings was a great experience.
Charlotte is an excellent host too!
Beautiful garden, quiet flat behind a canal house, lively location with neighborhood cafes and easy walk anywhere. The apt has everything you need to make meals or store take-out. Highly recommend!
We loved our time at Charlotte's. This is truly a spectacular location in the city center, and yet so quiet and private at the garden house. Charlotte was kind and an absolutely lovely, open hearted hostess. Thank you for an authentic Dutch experience - Hartelijk bedankt!
Property is convenient to tram, metro, restaurants and museums, but is also off the street so it is very quiet. The studio is small, but had what we needed for a one week stay while exploring Amsterdam.
Staying in the garden cottage in the back garden of this beautiful 17th C canal house was exceptionally delightful and a highlight of our trip that we will fondly remember.
Our host could not have been more gracious, and we felt very fortunate to have stayed in this little paradise while we visited Amsterdam.
Lovely garden cottage in there middle of Amsterdam
We had a wonderful time in Charlotte's garden house which was beautifully decorated and made us feel at home away from home. We especially enjoyed the authentic atmosphere in the studio, the kitchen which had everything we needed and having breakfast looking out into the beautiful garden. Note that the bathroom is quite small, but the hot shower was great!
Charlotte was also very helpful when we needed any assistance. Highly recommended.
We were happy with this rustic little get-away. Charlotte is a gracious host. It is a good value, walkable to most sights and just a few doors from a boutique hotel. It takes three keys to enter the host's house, get out into the garden in back, and then enter the garden house. The garden is nice and offers a private place to enjoy some sun and wine. There are some tricky stairs in the house and to get to the lofted bed area, clearly a dutch thing because we saw them everywhere. The bathroom is tiny, with toilet, sink and shower in one cubicle. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again.
La casa del jardín es fantástica, tiene todo para una estancia tranquila, estás en el centro y Charlotte es una anfitriona muy amable. Totalmente recomendable, muchas gracias!!!!
Ruhige Oase mitten in Amsterdam.
We stayed in the garden house for the month of November. It was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. The location is amazing, the studio is cozy and quiet, and Charlotte was a wonderful host. It made for a perfect stay in Amsterdam, along with a great base for visiting other parts of the Netherlands. We can't wait to return!
A Bit Rough Around the Edges, but Perfect Location & Meets All Basic Needs
We loved our stay at Charlotte's garden house. It was a perfect location - within 15-25 minute walking distance of all major sites and right down the block from a major tram/train stop. It is located on a beautiful major canal and right behind an old canal house. The garden house meets all basic needs - it has a water heater, microwave, basic utensils, couch & double bed, dining table, and was comfortable for the two of us. Note: no hair dryer or basic shower essentials, like shampoo - so bring your own.
As others have mentioned, the bathroom is small (the shower is over the toilet and the space is very cramped). We encountered a few unexpected visitors (i.e. spiders, mosquitos, slug, garden cat) that made it feel more like camping than a luxurious stay. It was a bit complicated to use the 4 separate house keys to get in from the garden house through the canal house out to the street; some of the locks are finicky.
However - overall - we loved our stay and would do it again. Communication with Charlotte through the VRBO app was easy and seamless. Check-in and check-out was a breeze.
Just as described. A special place. Lovely garden. Quiet, close to everything but you feel like you are away in the country. Enjoyed climbing up to the loft bed!

Charlottes’ home was a beautiful garden oasis in a prime location of the city-I spent a month there while attending the university(as a 48yr old mature student). I’ll go on to rave about the space but like to provide not just the great info so the review is accurate. A heads up to anyone who may want to talk in the outdoor space, or your suite while the sometimes back neighbor is in residence. He(the neighbor) was so fussed-banging hard on my window with a broom one night and yelling the ‘walls were paper’ while one friend was by, and then yelling at our study group of 4 as we sat with computers open on the garden table at 5pm working on a project. He was aggressive saying he didn’t want to hear us, came back to say he ‘hates tourists’ and trying to insult by saying ‘we must be american’ (we weren’t). We put on soft Italian music and he came back for another round of harassment. He called to complain on us(I videotaped the volume for Charlotte’s reference) and unfortunately her way of dealing with this bully was to say I should have appeased him, even though she knows he’s unreasonable:( My study mates were totally intimidated and were whispering after the encounter). While there, I endured an extremely loud late night party from behind, and several loud outdoor gatherings(at reasonable hours)to the side yards-but you’re in close quarters and it was expected. It was unsettling to be a single woman near to such an aggressive neighbor.
That aside, the cottage, which you access through the owners front door, down her interior hallway, out her back door and across the garden to your suite-was charming and equipped with basic needs. The bed was comfy(after I took one of the 3 mattress’s off-was too soft), pillows were great. The huge windows that open to the outside provide amazing contact with the charming garden. My overall stay was excellent, the home could not be better situated to grocery, laundry, shops, eating-and the garden in a city was an absolute bonus.
If booking, beware of the snarly neighbor and otherwise enjoy!
The garden studio was great...Central location ,quiet, clean and cozy...Well equip mini-kitchen..tiny bathroom but functional and lots of hot water for showers..Complicated set of 4 keys to enter and exit..Beautiful, flower filled garden..
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay right on an Amsterdam canal. Very charming garden cottage studio. This stay gave us a wonderful feel for living in Amsterdam like a local. Charlotte was very helpful and we enjoyed our chances to chat. Beautiful spot to come back to relax after exploring the city!

Quiet and Comfortable
This studio is in an excellent location with coffee shops, groceries and public transportation right nearby. Amsterdam is certainly a pedestrian friendly city, but for convenience trams and a metro station are right nearby for longer excursions. Short walks to both the Bloemenmarkt and Albert Cuypstraat markets as well. The location is quiet and the garden house is very comfortable. Charlotte is a wonderful host.

Charming garden house
We loved our stay in the garden house. It is charmingly rustic and we were very comfortable, despite some glitches resulting from a newly- installed heat and hot water system that I am sure have been fixed. The view into the lovely garden from the almost floor to ceiling windows makes you feel like you are in Vermeer’s studio! Charlotte was a very thoughtful and solicitous host
