About this property

Back to School Lake Getaway

Looking for a quiet place to slow down, reconnect, and make some memories?
Tucked along a small private lake, this cozy country cabin on 6 acres gives you room to settle in and recharge.

Spend the morning sipping coffee near the water, take one of the canoes out, fish with one of the provided poles, relax in the hammock, and end the evening in the hot tub or around a waterside fire. Here, lots of modern comforts don't come at the expense of rare privacy and a truly beautiful spot.

The space:

The cabin is a two bedroom, one bathroom home with an open floor plan and large windows overlooking the water.

Built up on large stilts much like a beach house, the cabin has covered parking underneath, making it easy to unload before heading up the short flight of stairs.
At the top, a spacious covered porch looks out across the lake and offers one of the best places at the property to sit with your morning coffee, enjoy a meal, or simply watch the water.

Inside, you will find a cabin that feels genuinely homemade rather than mass produced...because it is. Its character has been built over time as a family property, with a mix of country charm, vintage touches, and thoughtful modern comforts.
The full kitchen includes an electric reproduction stove along with cookware, dishes, and the basics you need to prepare meals during your stay.

The living area offers comfortable seating, large picture windows for the lake views, and a relaxed place to curl up for a movie after spending the day outside.
The front bedroom includes a comfortable king bed, with charging stations in the nightstands and convenient mounted reading lights. The back bedroom includes both a full bed and a twin. Beds are made with 100 percent cotton sheets for a comfortable night's sleep.

If booking for 6, linens will be provided for the couch and can be pre-made for sleeping if you wish. A small fee is added to your stay to cover the setup and laundry.

Families traveling with young children will also find a pack and play and high chair available.

Enjoy the lake:

Without a doubt, our little lake is one of the best parts of staying here.
Guests are welcome to swim and fish on the property. The lake is home to sunfish, largemouth bass, and catfish, and fishing poles are provided so you can try your luck without bringing your own.

Two canoes are also available for guest use, giving you an easy way to explore the lake from the water.

The property includes shoreline access on two sides of the lake, along with a private dock and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.

Wildlife is a regular part of the experience here. Depending on the season, you may spot ducks, Canada geese, osprey, hawks, turtles, frogs, and occasionally even a bald eagle. Be prepared to hear plenty of frogs.

When you are ready to relax, stretch out in the hammock, soak in the hot tub, or gather around the waterside fire pit. Firewood is provided.

A peaceful setting that is still close to things to do:

The cabin feels tucked away, but you can still reach several of the area's attractions without spending your vacation in the car.

Historic Petersburg, Pamplin Historical Park and Museum, and Dinwiddie Motorsports Park are all nearby, and Richmond is less than an hour away. And, for your day-to-day needs, the grocery store only takes a 5-minute drive.

All things considered, the cabin is an easy home base if you want to explore Central Virginia while still coming back to the quiet of the lake at the end of the day.
Before you arrive

Because of the cabin's secluded location, GPS does not provide the correct route all the way to the property.

After booking, you will receive detailed directions to the cabin. Please follow those directions rather than navigating directly to the cabin address with GPS.

Early check in and late check out may also be available for an additional fee, depending on the booking schedule.

Other things to note:

Occasional shooting may be heard from neighboring rural properties or elsewhere in the surrounding area.

Swimming, canoeing, fishing, and other water activities are permitted, but guests participate at their own risk.

Per local regulations, campfires cannot be started before 4 PM between February 15 and April 30.
