About this property
Simply Paradise. 8BR/10BA w/ large pool + volleyball. Perfect for large groups!
This beautiful guest home is located right on the beach; the clear, aqua, warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico are steps away. You can walk for miles on the white sandy beaches, catch fresh fish for dinner right from the shore or head out to explore the coast in one of our kayaks. In the summers, you can see the sun rise and set over the ocean. Close to Mayan ruins and cenotes. Perfect for families and groups of adults (please review guest capacities per room below).
About the Property
The property is configured similarly to a boutique hotel, with 8 separate bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom and mini split air conditioner. There is a kitchen with air conditioning; for additional cooking options, we offer a gas grill and griddle in the palapa and an exterior charcoal grill and gas burner cooking area. Instead of a traditional living room, there is a large beachfront palapa for dining, relaxing together or watching TV. The palapa features stacking sliding glass doors on three sides to open up the space to the ocean breezes; there are wall fans, a ceiling fan and portable fans for your added comfort.
Sleeping Rooms Configuration (8 bedrooms total):
=>There are 5 sleeping rooms on the first floor (capacity 2 persons per room):
Bedroom 1 offers a king-sized bed, ensuite bathroom with hot water shower, air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito curtains and standard cement roof. (This room is also wheelchair accessible; a shower seat is available upon request.)
Bedroom 2 offers a queen-sized bed ensuite bathroom with hot water shower, air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito curtains and standard cement roof.
Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5 each offer a queen-sized bed, ensuite bathroom with hot water shower, air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito beds and a palapa roof, the traditional beautiful, thatched roofs used by the Mayans for hundreds of years.
=>There are 3 sleeping rooms on the second floor:
Bedrooms 6 and 7 each offer 2 queen beds (capacity 4 per room), ensuite bathroom with hot water shower, mini refrigerator, air conditioning and ceiling fan.
Bedroom 8 is designed exclusively for children. This room features a bunk bed (1 double mattress on top and 2 individual mattresses below) and 1 queen sofa bed (ideal for an older child or nanny), with air conditioning, ensuite bathroom with hot water shower and smart TV.
All rooms have wifi access.
Please note: Air conditioners in the bedrooms are available daily from 6:00 pm in the evening until 10:00 am the next day. We kindly ask our guests to turn off the ACs when not in the rooms and to ensure that all windows and doors are closed when using the ACs. If you wish to use ACs outside of the standard hours to work or for guest who are relaxing in their rooms, a daily surcharge of $300 pesos per room may apply; please let us know in advance so we can coordinate extended AC availability for your comfort.
The Grounds
Guests have full access to the grounds, including the large pool, which features a water slide, jacuzzi (with both solar and gas heat), in-pool table and bar stools, and lounge area with chairs. Instead of a traditional living room, there is a beautiful palapa with stacking sliding glass doors, TV, bar, dining area, lounge space, gas griddle and grill for those fish you may wish to catch. The pool area includes an outdoor shower and men's and women's bathrooms for added convenience. Guests also enjoy use of the volleyball court, beach front sun beds and hammocks hung from the coconut trees, ocean front decks and use of the kayaks and paddle boards.
Secured parking is available for 5-7 cars.
There is direct beach access via a gate and steps at the front of the property.
Santa Clara is a peaceful fishing town with 30 families in residence year-round. The property is gated with cameras around the outside public grounds for added security and peace of mind.
Please note: your reservation is for a confirmed number of people. If additional people will be joining you for the day or overnight during your stay the $200 mxn day pass or $500 mxn overnight charge will apply.
Other things to note:
Property Upkeep and Maintenance:
Your hosts, Anne and Quincey, live in a house on the other side of the property as caretakers. We are here for immediate response to any questions or concerns but our guests have full privacy and need not ever see us. We will take care of pool cleaning, general maintenance, property upkeep and any repairs you may need, beach cleaning and daily trash removal.
Getting Around:
A car is helpful in Santa Clara if you plan to get out and explore all there is to see and do.
Dining:
There are several restaurants within walking distance here in Santa Clara and others in the two towns 10-15 minutes away by car serving fresh seafood for lunch and dinner. Restaurants in Santa Clara are usually open from noon to 6:00 pm while the nearby towns offer more options into the evening.
There is a local lady here in town, Dona Chalita, who prepares salbutes, panuchos, empanadas, ceviches with delivery to the property.
Cooking services can also be arranged; we have a mother-daughter team who prepare traditional Yucatecan dishes for our guests. Guests select from 1 to 3 meals daily and what they would like to eat.
Spending Money:
We suggest you plan to bring mexican pesos. Credit cards and foreign currencies are not typically accepted by service providers and shops in the smaller towns along the coast. (Note: the grocery stores such as Super Willys, Dunosusa, Bodega Aurrera, La Mexicana) and the gas stations in the nearby towns may accept credit cards, provided their wifi is working. There are ATMs in the nearby towns where you can withdraw pesos using international debit or credit cards.
Shopping:
We recommend shopping for groceries in Merida before you head out to the beach for the best selection and to purchase any specialty items or alcoholic beverages. The nearby towns do have mercados and little shops with fresh vegetables, fruit and meats and grocery stores so you can also pick up the basics locally but you will find the selection to be much better in Merida. There are now 2 beer stores in Santa Clara where you can purchase beer, sodas, bottled waters, chips etc.
Things to Do and See:
We will share our list of recommendations for things to see and do with you to help with your planning. We are also happy to organize tours with our recommended providers for you. Most of our providers speak both Spanish and English. Let us know how we can help make your vacation truly incredible!

About the host
Hosted by Anne Large

While living in Redondo Beach, California, we began our search for a picturesque beach getaway, near enough to a large city for access to an international airport, superior medical facilities, shopping, dining and cultural activities but not overly developed or a tourist hub. We discovered Santa Clara, Yucatan, a peaceful fishing village with sandy streets and friendly locals located where the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean meet. There is something magical about Santa Clara....once you arrive you never want to leave. After some months commuting back and forth we relocated permanently. We love the beauty, peace and safety of Santa Clara, the friendly families who are our neighbors, the proximity to the city of Merida, to so many Mayan ruins, both famous and little known, and to dozens of cenotes.
We now live in a separate house on the other side of the property as caretakers and are available to our guests as needed for any questions or issues. We take care of pool maintenance, general property upkeep, beach cleaning and trash removal for our guests during their stay.
We look forward to welcoming you to our little corner of paradise!

Why they chose this property
We chose Santa Clara as it was a rare find....an undiscovered fishing town, not yet commercialized or affected by tourism. It is ideal for anyone looking to escape the hectic pace of city life and to spend time with family and/or friends in a safe, peaceful environment. For those who love water, we have the beautiful Gulf of Mexico in front of us and lagoons all around us. Flamingoes and egrets abound in the lagoons and you can often spot manta rays swimming below your kayak or paddle board on a clear calm morning.
What makes this property unique
In addition to being one of the only properties capable of welcoming large groups of 15-20 or more guests on the Yucatan's Costa Esmeralda, guest feedback reveals that the level of care and attention we offer to our guests is truly exceptional and unique. Our sole goal is to offer our guests the most incredible vacation, ensuring that all of their needs are taken care of and they are able to relax and spend time together. It makes us so happy to see our guests having a wonderful time!
"Anne is absolutely the very best host we’ve ever had over the years we’ve been traveling as a family. She is very attentive and communicative from months out before our stay 'til the final day. Her goal is to make sure everyone is happy and enjoys their beautiful place." (July 2024)
"Anne is the most wonderful host that you could possibly have.... She responded to every question And she is so kind and generous and easy to deal with that there weren't any issues. We loved it and her!" (March 2024)
"Wow! All I can say is: wow! We rent a lot with AirBnB, but this was, by far, our best experience ever. Our family had a wonderful time. Anne and Quincy could not have been better hosts and were very accommodating. They were super helpful and worked with us even as our plans changed at the last minute. We are already trying to figure out when we can go again!"
"Anne and Quincy made me have the most amazing stay ever. The level of detail and care they have for the property is admirable to say the least...They are just the most amazing and caring couple. You can feel their attentiveness and care for their guests. I have to say the place is even better than in the pictures and be guaranteed you will have the most amazing stay of all." (Jan 2024)
