CHARMING 3BR/3BA FARMHOUSE~FAMILY FRIENDLY~QUIET COUNTRY SETTING~GREAT LOCATION!
Pleasant relaxing getaway in this charming historical farmhouse, circa 1876. Recently renovated and has been totally updated merging with rustic elegance and modern comforts. My favorite place is the large covered front porch. Nothing seems to welcome you more than a front porch with rocking chairs, inviting you and others to gather together, to relax and enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the early morning sunrise or a glass of sweet iced tea on a hot summer’s day. Step inside, and you’ll be captivated by the warm atmosphere created by the flow of natural light and a gas fireplace with the original brick surround. Spacious open floor plan and large kitchen. Screened in back porch.
Downstairs provides a King bedroom and bathroom, guest bathroom, a queen sofa sleeper, cozy seating with gas fireplace, modern kitchen with major appliances, small appliances, and basic supplies and essentials. Large dining area, and laundry area. Upstairs provides a queen bed with electric fireplace, kiddy playroom with checkers and other board games, a full bed, twin bunk beds, and adjoining bathroom.
Free Wifi, Cable (living room TV) Smart TV's, and detached game room.
Bed Linens and towels are provided. Starter items are provided that include toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, and conditioner.
Outdoor charcoal grill. Fire pit. Ample parking.
If you want to take a walk, we do have the gravel driveway plus, the paved road behind the farmhouse. It does have a bit of an incline, but it isn't too difficult to walk.(I only walk the short black top road, as the other roads do lead to private property). It could be a great work out to prepare you for some of the hiking trips you may be planning.
Just minutes away from all the attractions in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Olde Farmhouse Retreat is in the "Perfect Location!"

About the host
Hosted by Karen Henderson
Hello! We are Robert and Karen Henderson. Robert was born and raised in south Mississippi. I, Karen, am originally from central Louisiana. I moved to Mississippi as a young teenager. I often think of the song by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man," when I tell people the story of how we met. We are both retired and now have time to pursue traveling. Robert's hobbies include hunting, fishing, boating, carpentry and tinkering with vintage cars. My hobbies are sewing, crafting , interior/exterior decorating. When not traveling, we enjoy spending time with our precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Currently, our favorite vacation destination is the beautiful and peaceful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We visited the area on our honeymoon many years ago and it has captured our hearts for a lifetime. Robert and I frequently visit the GSMNP two or more times a year. I, will also join my girlfriends for a "girls trip" at least twice a year. Since we frequently visit the GSMNP, we decided to purchase a vacation home. During our search, we had hoped for a mountain view, however, the few cabins available were situated close together with very limited parking. Once we toured the farmhouse, we knew this was our "home away from home!" We knew it would be a long process to complete the restorations of this home. The goal was to keep as much of the historic charm as possible. Some of the existing structures were in good condition and could be preserved while other structures needed to be replaced. I believe we accomplished our goal, in addition to, giving life back to this farmhouse! We want to welcome all our guests and hope you will enjoy a cozy, peaceful and comfortable stay in your "Home away from Home!"
Why they chose this property
Olde Farmhouse Retreat is located in Sevierville, just outside the city limits of Pigeon Forge. It's far enough away from all the hustle and bustle, but less than 3 miles to all the attractions, entertainment, food, etc. It sits in a hollow (holler) on a small hill, surrounded by mountains. There is a trickling creek in front of the house. After a heavy rainfall, the water rushing in the creek creates a soothing, relaxing sound. The cabin is the only one in the area, however, there are a few locals that live quite a distance from the house, Sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch in the early mornings is my favorite past time. It's so peaceful and comforting to hear the symphony of birds chirping, to be entertained by mischievious squirrels. To get a quick glimpse of a tiny chipmunk stuffing its cheeks with food. Watching a deer as it gracefully moves across the lawn, always alert and poised, then quickly bound towards the woods. Although rare, a bear may be encountered. It is an amazing and exciting experience to witness such a beautiful animal. The bears are observed from a SAFE distance without causing disturbance and respecting their needs for space. The barn, adjacent from the farmhouse was built in the early 1920's by the Sharp family. Today, it is still funtional and is well maintained by the previous owners. They have goats and donkeys on the property where the barn is located. The animals can be quite entertaining and comical to watch. The Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful during all four seasons, however, Fall is my favorite. The leaves on the trees dramatically change to vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges, creating a colorful landscape. The temperatures began to become cooler and crisps bringing about feelings of coziness and renewed purpose.
What makes this property unique
Olde Farmhouse Retreat is a piece of history. Built in 1876, it still has charm and character as it did all those years ago. A semi- secluded, peaceful area. Although it is located in Sevier County, it is just under 3 miles from Pigeon Forge. For those people who do not like steep roads and want less driving time, this is the place for you.
