About this property
SKY, HIKE, STARGAZE, FOREST BATH, SWIM BY STREAM IN THE SHAWANGUNK MOUNTAIN
Blessedly far from the everyday, LE HIDEAWAY SUBLIME lies nestled in the woody hills of the Shawangunk mountains. A secret oasis, with galore signs of human and nature histories, beckoning discovery. Built on a slight elevation, far from road, neighbors and traffic, LE HIDEAWAY SUBLIME promises instant immersion and a spiritual experience in green, silent nature, a majestic panorama, quaint cozy comfort, and plenty options for indoor and outdoor fun.
Here lies a soothing, yearlong CENTRALLY HEATED sanctuary. At the edge of a state park forest, the property is open, UNFENCED, bordered by giant, lush trees; a STREAM meanders along the park side (West). Pristine leafy evergreens, glistening waterfalls, rocks, boulders, historic stonewalls, sky-high treetops wield spectacular sunsets and dramatic moonlights. Your sleep is lulled by rushing water, frogs, birds, cicadas or singing bats.
Enjoy seasonal swims in a 15X30 ABOVE-GROUND HEATED POOL, with sunbathing, grilling, and chilling on the spacious pool deck, in the privacy of a tree wall of magnificent tall trees, lilac bushes and boulders.
You get an EXCLUSIVE RIGHT-OF-WAY to HIKE the nearby PARK TRAILS. No driving needed: simply cross our very own footbridge. Hike, bike or X-country SKY up the 2000-ft high mountain. The prize is a pristine glacier LAKE you can also drive to, through the MINNEWASKA STATE PARK. You could even find edible mushrooms.
LE HIDEAWAY SUBLIME cottage is a 1900th log-and-rock stand-alone structure, a sunny and spacious 1500 sft , 2-story house that was fully revamped and renovated. It sleeps FOUR adults, with: 7 rooms (including 2 bedrooms), 2 lounging areas (including living room with large L sofa), a dining area with 1 large glass-top table and chairs that seat 8 to 10, 2 separate study spaces with desk, 2 wood stoves, 4 patio glass- pane doors.
A vast, recently remodeled KITCHEN has cathedral ceilings, bow windows, granite countertops, high-end appliances, well appointed kitchenware, and a separate entrance onto giant bamboos, creating an inviting space for team cooking and eat-in.
A high-end WASHER/DRYER tower is niched in an alcove on the ground floor.
A BBQ GRILL (gas-powered), chimes, a large deck awning overseeing the pool, a hammock, tables, chairs, benches, and lounging chairs complete the contemplative journey. A sprawling lawn on the South side, tree-lined pathways and rocks on the Northern side, stone steps, lush bamboos, antique urns, a wrap-around rustic porch, a large deck surrounds the pool, a balcony overlooks waters and woods, and a garden cabana/artist studio, punctuate walks around the property.
Cathedral-ceilings, skylights, pinewood paneling, and oversized windows instill a peaceful, Scandinavian flair, complementing the owner’s collection from old-world heritage, distant travels, and visual artistry. Ethnic arts and textiles, vintage furniture, wood panels, exposed beams and bricks, and classic landscaping details, complete the scene for a cozy, romantic, world all its own.
PETS, OVERNIGHT GUESTS, AND PARTIES/EVENTS, MUST BE PRE-APPROVED.
CHILDREN ARE WELCOME BUT MUST BE WEAR PROPER ATTIRE, AND MUST BE ACCOMPANIED AT ALL TIMES TO PREVENT INDOOR AND OUTDOOR HAZARDS, POTENTIAL ENCOUNTERS WITH WILDLIFE AND NATURE, ON UNFENCED PROPERTY, DRIVEWAY, FOOTBRIDGE AND GARDEN SHEDS.
PETS - NO CATS - pets need to be house-trained and leashed outdoor. THE PROPERTY IS UNFENCED, NEXT TO A PARK. PETS CANNOT RUN FREE OUTDOOR. OCCASIONAL ENCOUNTERS WITH HIKERS, LEASHED PETS, WILDLIFE. PETS CAN RUN ON ENCLOSED PORCH AND POOL DECK. PARK AND TOWN RULES REQUIRE DOGS TO BE LEASHED.

About the host
Hosted by Sylvie C.

A New York City resident for over three decades, and a home base in Manhattan/Harlem for the last 26 years, the Owner was born and raised in France in the grit of Parisian suburbs. She retired from a thirty-year professional experience in international development. She now works as free-lance photographer. She lived and worked in sub-Saharan Africa for ten years. Upon return from an assignment in South-Eastern Africa, she missed the rain forest wilderness, energy and open skies. This Dream Place was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
